  "Sir, are you okay?" Thomilson asked as we loaded up the horses for our journey. "You don’t look so good."

  Was I okay? No, I wasn’t. I had been up most of the night fighting off the demon that wanted to escape and driving myself mad thinking about what Eli and Moyra could possibly be up to. However, I wasn’t about to admit that to my beta.

  "I’m fine." I responded. "Is this the last bit of luggage?"

  I didn’t have any interest in wasting time preparing. Things in the north were quickly going downhill, and the sooner we got to my troops, the better.

  "It is." Thomilson confirmed with a frown. "But doesn’t it seem like a little too little?"

  "We don’t need much." I sighed, placing my hands on my hips. "Our warriors should have plenty of rations. After all, I don’t plan on dragging out this damn war much longer. "
