Chapter 15

“I have a proposal to make.”, Lello said seriously while looking straightly on her eyes.

“What do you mean proposal?”, she frowned and asked him.

“Stay with Nally while I am still on my residency.”

“Please explain it further. Why would you want me to stay with Nally?”, she asked confusedly.

“You see, Nally’s blind and I am currently unable to take care of her because of my residency, because of what happened to her, I think it would be better if Nally will be with someone who can take care of her and protect her at the same time.”

“Why me?”

“Granny said that you are currently looking for a job, and you are only working at the coffee shop for the meantime.”

“Yes, that’s true.”

“I am giving you a job. You will have the salary that you wanted. You will also have to stay in our house so you would not be needing to pay for your rent and food. All you have to do is be with Nally.”, he explained.

“But what make’s you think that I can do that?”

“You saved Nally so I know you can protect her well. Nally does not really needed to be taken care of, she can do lots of things by herself, so you really do not need to have special training to accompany her. And Nally likes you a lot.”

“You want me to be her nanny and bodyguard at the same time?”

“You don’t need to answer immediately, you may think it over.”

Ziah remained silent and thought about it for a while then decided to give him her answer.

“Ok, I’ll do it.” Lello smiled and stood up to leave.

“You do not want to be in the hospital so you can start taking care of her once she gets discharge. But you need to go to the hospital tomorrow night so we can run you a scan.”, Lello said. Ziah nodded in response.

“I’ll be leaving now, see you tomorrow.”, then he turned and walked out of the door.

“Neil!”, Neil stopped walking and turn his head to looked at the person who called her.

“Shayra! It’s nice to see you again.”, Neil smiled.

“Yes, it has been a long time since we last seen each other. How are you?”

“I am doing good, why are you here at the hospital? Are you sick?”

“No, I am not. I just went to see you.”, she smiled at him and link her arms to his arms. “Do you want to have lunch with me?”, she asked.

“Are you kidding me? You mean to say you went all the way here just to invite me for lunch? What? Do you miss me that much?”, Neil chuckled and asked her playfully.

“Yes! Can’t I do that?”, Shayra pouted and glared at him.

“Look at you, pretending to be cute.” Neil pinch both of her cheeks until it turns red.

“Gosh! Stop that it hurts! Are you trying to get my cheeks off me?!”, Shayra struggled and removed his hands on her face. Neil laughed out loud and patted her head.

“You’re really cute when you pout like that. Come on, let’s have lunch.”

“Ok, your treat.”, Shayra smiled at him and link back her arms at him.

“What? I thought you invited me. Why is it my treat?”, Neil protested.

“Because you pinched me so hard, so you need to treat me to lunch so that I’ll forgive you, ok?”, she smiled at him brightly. Neil sighed and conceded. He would never win with this girl anyway.

“Ok, ok, no need to drag me.”, he said shaking his head.

Shayra and Neil are childhood friends. Their families are friends and neighbors, so they grew up together. Neil treats Shayra as her little sister. She’s kind and bubbly, she makes all the places lively and gives happiness to everyone. Neil always takes care of Shayra wherever they went. He even broke up with his girlfriends when they don’t get along with Shayra. Most of the times, his ex-girlfriends are getting jealous of their friendship and always tried to cause a rift between the two of them and they sometimes asked him to choose between them and Shayra.

“Hmmm. The foods here taste good. No wonder you almost never come home.” Shayra said while munching over her food.

“Eat slowly, you’ll choke yourself.” Neil said and wipe the sauce on the corner of Shayra’s lips.

“I am not eating to fast. You are the one who’s not eating at all. If you don’t eat now, I’ll eat your food after I am done with mine.”, Shayra said jokingly.

“You are really a glutton, why would you eat my food? How can it be lunch together if you will be the only one who gets to eat?”, Neil said teasing her.

“Well, you know that I have a big appetite.”, Shayra said proudly and Neil laughed at her.

“Ahm, Neil can I asked you something?”, Shayra said after a while.

“Sure, you are already asking anyway.”, Neil said while eating his food slowly.

“You’re mean.” Shayra scowled and Neil chuckled at her.

“Do you know where Lello is doing his residency?”, she asked.

“I knew it!”, Neil said laughing slightly.

“You knew what?”, Shayra asked, confused.

“You really did not miss me, don’t you? You just came here to fish some information about my best friend.”, Neil said accusing her.

“What?! Of course not! I really did miss you, but since I am already here, I decided to fish information from you as well.” Shayra laughed out loud.

“Look at you not even denying!” Neil said with shocked on his face.

“You already knew so why bother to deny it?”, Shayra answered matter of factly.

“Well, I am sorry to say but I won’t tell you anything miss.”, Neil said smiling smugly.

“What? Why?”, she’s perplexed at his answer.

“I am not betraying my best friend.”, Neil said playfully. He looked at her face and was not able to restrain his laughter anymore. Shayra was startled at his laugh before she realized that he is playing with her.

“You! You’re teasing me!”, Shayra said.

“You should have seen your face, you really make funny faces you know that.”, Neil said while laughing heartily. “Ok, I will tell you where he is doing his residency but promise me that you are not going to bother him."

“And why would you think that I will bother him?”

“Well, you know, everybody knew that you are head over heels with him. I am afraid that you’ll jump at him and crush his bones with your monster hug.”

“Monster hug! You’re really annoying!”, she stood up and went beside Neil then she suddenly locked her arms around his neck and playfully choked him as he laughs. Other customers are silently laughing while watching the two bickering with one another. There is a very bright vibe with the two, given that they both have bubbly personalities.
