Draft Chap 2

-Four Years Later-

Cole woke up in a cold sweat, panting and gasping for air. He looked over to see Amy lying down in the bed next to him.

"Ugh… what time is it?"

Cole got up from his bed and walked over to the window. He opened the curtains and saw that the sun was just about to start rising, with its edge just barely peeking over the horizon.

Cole walked over to the pile of bags in the corner of the room and took out a set of clothing. He walked into the bathroom and got dressed. As soon as he walked out of the bathroom he went to the window to open the shades.

"Rise and shine, pretty girl. We've gotta get going soon.

"Just a few more minutes… Too tired…" Yawned Amy as she adjusted her body so that she was facing away from the window.

"Amy, get up. They've probably tracked our location by now. If you want to sleep in, maybe you shouldn't have followed me on that day four years ago."

"You know I couldn't do that. Not with kai's sacrifice and my feelings for you..." Mumbled Amy as she turned her body so that she was now facing the ceiling.

"What was that?"

"Nothing… So, where are we headed today?"

"Didn't I tell you last night? We're going to the Burning Forest to see if the phoenixes will grant us protection."

"But that's so far away…"

"Yeah, and that's why we're leaving at the crack of dawn. So get up and get ready to go."

"Fine. I'll be ready in a minute. Can you leave the room while I'm getting dressed though?"

Cole walked over to the door, and before leaving, grabbed a greatsword that was lying against a wall. He then slung it over his shoulder and left the room, making sure to close the door behind him.

While waiting for Amy to get ready, Cole thought back to the dream he had last night.

It's the first time in a while that I've had that dream… And whenever I have it, bad things are always to follow.

The door opened, revealing Amy, who was now wearing a set of casual clothing.

"How do I look?" Asked Amy shyly.

Cole looked over to her and stared for a bit too long.

"Why are you staring at me for such a long time?" Asked Amy nervously.

Cole quickly looked away.

"You look… good." He said with a blush.

"Thanks, Cole!" Said Amy with a jump in her voice.

"We should probably get moving now."

"Alright, Cole. How far do we have to travel?"

"If I tell you that then you'll be asking how far away we are for the entire journey. Just know that when we're a quarter of the way there, we will be in a city."

"Okay."

"Quickly! They're here!" Yelled a manly voice from outside.

"Same old, same old." Muttered Cole.

Cole and Amy walked down a flight of stairs to the lobby of the inn they had stayed in.

"Cole Diadem! You are hereby under arrest and are to be taken under the custody of the Constella Royal Mage Association." Announced a knight wearing a suit of steel armor. His body could not be seen, but it was clear that he was massive.

"Thanks for letting us stay. Here, have a tip too." Said Cole to the bewildered innkeeper as he handed her a watt of money.

"That is, presuming you can even capture him." Said Amy to the knight.

"Princess Amy, your parents demand your return as well."

"So, you want to capture me. And I'm supposed to just let you? I don't want to be experimented on again. And I bet she doesn't want to go back either."

"Cole, I'm warning you. Please do not resist arrest or we will have to be forceful."

"Sucks to fucking suck, my guy!" Yelled Cole as he picked Amy up and disappeared behind the knight.

"Put me down!" Yelled Amy as she struggled to get free.

"Also, Mr. Knight. Please tell Kai that Amy is alright."

The knight looked behind him, but it was too late. Cole had already left.

"Damn him! That son of a bitch is ruining my chances of promotion!"

"Sir Aleph! Our mages have been unable to sense his presence! We fear he has already left our detection range."

"Fuck. Tell the rest of the unit to move out! We are to head back to the capital at once!"

"Yes Sir!"

As Aleph and the unit moved out of town, Cole came out of an alleyway with Amy in his arms.

"Cole, you've got to tell me when you're gonna transform." Amy complained.

"Oh, just shut up and get a move on."

As Cole and Amy walked the opposite way that the knights had out of town, they saw a desert approaching them. Unbeknownst to both Amy and Cole, this would eventually be one of their final resting points in life. But not for another few decades, maybe even hundreds of years.

But there was one person who knew.

A young female with shiny red hair awoke in a deep cavern with a waterfall giving her privacy from the rest of the world.

She was silent, but her eyes started to glow, and a six-pronged star-like pattern appeared on them.

She started to speak in an ethereal voice that reverberated around the cavern, echoing for what seemed like ages.

"The apocalypse is coming,

The apocalypse is near,

If you see the dragon running,

Then be sure not to fear.

From those who've been forgotten,

And all those who have changed,

Thou heart shalt not turn rotten,

If you don't go deranged."
