Descent of the Apocalypse

*cough* *cough* -Quick author insert- The cover was done by the great and amazing Turtleboii, if you are into romance/comedy do check her novel out {Love For Hire} now onto the synopsis There were a dozen figures kneeled in front of a golden throne. Their faces were all hidden inside hoods that were attached to beautiful robes made of purple silk. The man who knelt closest to the throne rose his head slightly, as his deep voice echoed throughout the room. "Father, it is time. Everything is ready." "Good. Now, send the announcer, and start the system." A voice that could only be described as archaic replied to the man. "Let us see who will be the victor; let the entertainment begin!" In the middle of the room, a condensed ball of magic that started as small as a speck grew large in no time. After a brief flash of blinding light, an exquisite tome appeared. It floated upward and opened itself to a blank page. As if right on cue, a flying pen came rushing to its side and placed itself above the hovering book. It wrote: 'One must be able to laugh at death to become immortal.' The scritches finally came to a stop. The pen moved towards a corner of a book and scribbled a name down. Golden lights enveloped both items and disappeared thereafter. At the time, there was a young man who laid atop a hill. He was sleeping peacefully until blinding light shone on his face and jolted him awake from his slumber

Walking to the doors he starts reading the descriptions from left to right,

[Hunt and kill ten goblins random level 2-5 and one random Adept Goblin at level 1] [Very Hard] [Reward: One Random Basic Skill, one trash attack skill and one trash buff skills +1 to every stat] [Area: Small Dungeon Forest]

"... Hey, book how bad is the disparity between levels?" Sebastian asks with a frown.

"pretty bad, 1-2 is like a person that doesn't exercise and a person that exercises seriously for two hours every day in a gym, but it gets worse the bigger it is." The book says with a patient attitude.

"And what level am I?" Sebastian looks at the book "Zero" it answers in a monotone voice.

"How come! I killed that cat, didn't I?" He says with a sad face "You can't level up here"

"Why not!" Says Sebastian on the verge of tears "You'll get to know later, and don't act like a baby man up or just go die in a gutter" The book scoffs at him

Ignoring what the book says Sebastian asks hopefully. "Can, I get traps like bear traps?" but, the book mercilessly shuts down his idea "No, I am not giving you traps"

"Haaa, can I get a big backpack, some rope, an army knife, a machete, and a spear also some kind of armor." Sebastian lists of some things of the top of his head.

"Everything but the armor is fine," the book says as everything he asked for appears in front of him of course without the armor.

"Can I get a ghillie suit or at least some camo clothes also a bow and about 20 arrows with a quiver." Sebastian decides on a few other things the bow is a basic short bow.

"You can't have a Ghillie suit but Green Camo Clothes are fine and a bow and arrows are also fine." The things appear once again. "Just tell me one thing genius can you carry all of this?"

Sebastian looks at the book squinting "Fine, I guess I don't need the machete and spear but make the knife slightly bigger."

"Alright, that's better now tell me why do you need a backpack just for rope? and how will you carry the quiver and bow with a backpack on you?"

*Inhale* *Exhale* "I don't need the backpack, get rid of it." He says as calmly as he can as the book scoffs at him again.

"Give me a shovel and some spikes," Sebastian says "Alright, here is a belt to hold your knife genius" The book mocs him.

Sebastian takes the 20-foot rope ties up the spikes together with the shovel and puts his belt on and inserts the knife as well as putting the quiver on his back as well as the bow across his shoulder.

*Inhale* *Exhale*

As he takes a deep breath he remembers something "Oh I forgot what is an Adept Goblin?" The book once again scoffs at him "It's an evolved Goblin that is smarter and stronger and also has a basic skill they also tend to be in charge of other goblins"

Sebastian frowns and says "Ugh, and how strong are trash skills and how stong is a basic skill?" The book stays quiet for a second before it starts talking "There is a big variety of skills but I'll explain it in percentage a trash skill would be 1-5 and then +1 percent every level so the limit would be 10 percent, while a basic skill goes from 11-20%, of course, it doesn't have to be percentage-based, but the rest I'll leave to you to find out"

"Also what do you mean by evolved?"

"It means a goblin reached max level and evolved to a higher form also a level 5 goblin is slightly weaker than a level 1 Adept Goblin"

".... Well, I decided, I am going in the hardest difficulty one." He says solemnly as he steps in front of the door. "And may I ask why?" The book asks with interest.

"The challenges will get harder and harder and if I do survive I would like to be able to protect myself self, Oh can I get poison?" The book silently stands there making Sebastian feel uncomfortable "Fine since you are going in the hardest one you can have paralyzing poison but not any more than this."

A jar filled with a gooey yellow liquid appears in front of Sebastian "This is all you get though not a drop more!" The book says with its cute childish voice, though Sebastian finds it creepy at how serious the voice turns as if you are talking to a child that suddenly becomes a grown man.

"Well thank you very much," Sebastian says as he opens the door that leads down a small hallway that has a weird white oval-shaped opening to what seems like a forest.

The book behind Sebastian speaks "That is a portal just walk through it and you'll find your self on the other side"

While walking down the corridor Sebastian asks "Say can I see my status somehow? like my stats and skills?" The book answers "No not yet only when you successfully finish the inheritance."

"Ohh, alright then I guess." Sebastian soon enters the portal it wasn't anything special it didn't feel any different than just walking through an opening.

The portal behind him closed as soon as the book flew through. "Well good luck just think of me if you want something and I'll come to give it to you as long as it's nothing much."

"Alright thanks for the help I guess, now to find those shitty goblins," Sebastian says as he stealthily enters the forest keeping to the bushes and staying away from clearing looking for goblins"

"Thank god I have the higher strength otherwise I doubt I could carry all of this." Sebastian thinks to himself as he is ^hunting^.

After a good 20 minutes, his first two goblins are spotted, "Hoo thank god it's only two" Slowly and silently putting down the spikes and shovel he takes off his bows knocks an arrow and aims "Also thank god I did archery for 3 months" he slowly closes in on the 2 small goblins.

They were currently arguing over a rabbit they hunted it seems, they weren't as ugly as they were described but they still looked like tiny, green humans with a pointy nose and pointy ears, they had mostly human-like teeth except the four sharp fangs.

They had long hair on their heads that seemed to be crudely cut with a weapon both had brown hair, one had blueish eyes the other had green eyes, they had some pelt covering their bodies and each had a rusty dagger.

Taking aim Sebastian gets in a stance as he aims for a clear instant kill shot. A few seconds after the sound of the arrow firing and flying sounds out as the arrow flies towards the head of the blue-eyed goblin.
