17 Chapter 17 - The Demon Awakens I

After hearing his name Fang Yuan walked out.

At that moment, the surroundings went quiet. Everyone's eyes were on him.

Under their watchful eyes, he crossed the river and reached the opposite bank.

Once he reached the opposite bank, he could feel the layer of pressure caused due to the rich primeval qi in the surroundings.

Soon the little lights – Hope Gu – made their way up from the flowers below his feet and enveloped his entire body before entering it.

"The number of Hope Gu is lesser than expected." Many elders watching Fang Yuan in the dark thought this as they saw the light. The clan head frowned as well. This was not the sign of an A-grade talent!

While the clan head and elders were frowning and watching Fang Yuan.

Fang Yuan's head was filled with confusion and he was absentmindedly walking ahead. Because as soon as Hope Gu started entering his body and gathered into his abdomen and collected into a group, three inches under his navel, he heard a voice in his head.

It was an extremely seductive female voice, the type that turned his bones soft and would normally cause his legs to turn to jelly. But what it said stunned Fang Yuan.

'Gu System activated. Binding in progress, please wait a moment…'

'Binding successful…'

'Initializing Gu System… 1%... 10%... 30%... 50%... 70%... 90%... 100%...'

'Initialisation complete… Starting Gu System…'

Fang Yuan was stunned. Soon before his vision, a transparent screen appeared; on it, a few words were written.

Fang Yuan immediately snapped out of his daze and subconsciously asked in his head 'Can anyone detect you, system?'

'No one except you can feel my existence and interact with me host.' The seductive voice immediately replied.

'Even so, if you can hide then do it.' Fang Yuan said to the system.

'Even if the system says that no one can detect it, I won't lose anything by being cautious. Especially now since I don't know anything at all about the system and have just awakened as a Gu Master and don't have any means to protect myself.' Fang Yuan thought.

'As you say host. By the way, your awakening ceremony has finished host.' Fang Yuan heard the system reply while giggling. Listening to that seductive voice Fang Yuan's almost lost himself in it.

He quickly snapped out.

After taking another step forward he heard a bang in between his two kidneys the ball of light made of Hope Gu had reached its limit exploded.

This burst of energy only happened inside his body; outsiders cannot see it. Only Fang Yuan alone could feel at that moment, an earth-shaking reaction happened in his body. Instantly the fine hairs on his body stood up, his pores shut tight, his mind stretched to a tense limit. Soon after, his mind went blank, his entire body becoming soft as if he fell into some clouds. His heart relaxed, his fine hairs flattening, and his pores re-opened again.

In a short, while his entire body was perspiring.

This entire process felt long, but it happened in a short time. The feeling went away as fast as it came.

Fang Yuan blanked out for a short moment before coming back to his senses. He focused his attention on his body and found that below his navel and in between his two kidneys, an aperture had formed out of thin air.

This thin membrane of light supported the aperture so it would not collapse, and inside the aperture was naturally the Primeval Sea. The seawaters were smooth like a mirror, showing a greenish-blue color, yet the water was dense and brought about a copper luster. Only Rank one Gu Masters can form this green coppery primeval essence, known as the green copper sea.

When Fang Yuan checked his aperture, he was shocked.

What was going on wasn't he supposed to have only 44% of primeval essence? How did it turn out to be 59%?

Only that could explain the current changes.

"You can't go any further?" He heard the shout of the academy elder behind him and in response turned around and walked back.

While walking back he heard the voices of the teenagers.

"What? Fang Yuan walked only 29 steps?" (Boy A)

"So, he was just a C grade talent? (Boy B)

'So, I walked 29 steps huh?' Fang Yuan thought. He did not count his steps as his attention was drawn by the Gu System at that time.

As he got closer to the crowd, he could see the heavy expression of the academy elder. He could also imagine the expressions of the elders and clan leader who were watching from the shadows.

The youths all had different mixed expressions – amazement, shock, sneering, and some taking pleasure at this unfortunate event, some indifferent.

The academy elder took a deep breath and called out, "Next, Gu Yue Fang Zheng!"

Only after calling out his name twice did the idiot come forward, but even then, he tripped and tumbled into the river, giving the surrounding people a good laugh.

Exasperated Fang Yuan gave the idiot a hand and pulled him out of the water.

"Go on." He simply said to the idiot and went to stand alone in a corner.

Fang Zheng looked at Fang Yuan who was completely calm and not affected after realizing that he was only a C grade talent at all. Not only was he calm he even appeared to be smiling? With such thoughts, Fang Zheng went to complete his awakening ceremony.
