1 Chapter 1
In a tall fashionable building, a middle-aged man fired a woman in her mid-twenties.
"You are fired. Get lost, you are not worthy to work in our company."
The woman's name is Anne. She worked in an international company with high expectations. She knew she could not fulfill her job. Now her she was, fired.
Earlier the day, she got a letter of eviction as she had not paid her rent. She was in hope that she would pay the rent after getting her salary. She wanted to go to her hometown. She missed her father as she didn't have time to visit them on holiday.
Her mother had died when she was 10 years old. She always hoped that she would see her mother even her spirit. After her mother died, she can see her spirit but never saw her mother's spirit. Anne had seen things that could not be seen by others. This made her life living hell. She didn't have any friends and stuck with her books all day. Her friends were the small spirits of cats and dogs.
Anne and her father used to live big house with many rooms. She asked her father.
" These rooms are not empty. When you grow up. I'll tell you about them."
Her father would say that every time she asked her father. But Anne can feel that there was something far more dark and evil than the spirits of cats and dogs. She could feel the cold breeze that blew over her spine. Anne didn't feel scared but had a comforting presence that eased her mind and soul.
Now that she thinks about that she wants to go back home and ask her father. Anne packed her clothes and bag to leave for her home the very night. As she went out of her home she saw Kuro, the spirit of a male black cat in front of her door. The cat was nuzzling her, as usual, the cat stayed with her for the last 6 months.
" I cannot stay with her anymore. I will go to my hometown. I wish I can take you there".
The cat meowed and spoke, " I will go with you take me with you".
Anne felt helpless but what she can do. If she didn't take he would follow her to her home. So she decides to take him to her hometown.
She always felt very lonely in her home. She doesn't know what her father works at, she always thought that her father had an easy job as he had plenty of money to spend. As she was about all these she reached the steps of home along with Kuro.
She felt like she had returned to her childhood, running around her playing with butterflies. The house looked very peaceful and silent in the rays of the full moon. It felt like she had returned to the night when her mother died while sleeping. She knocked at the door and waited for her father to open the door.
" I am home da. where are you? open the door".
A white mist opened the door. She felt that it was welcoming her. She entered and white mist vanished as switches on the light.
She saw her father, laying in bed white as chalk.
" Had Shiro opened the door for me?".
He asks me. I am shocked. I thought that I only can see spirits but my father can see them. I had doubts that my father can see them but it clears my doubt now. I have seen him dazing in broad daylight and whispering sometimes.
"Why didn't you say that you can see them. I didn't have to feel scared alone after the death of ma".
I started to cry that I alone have to endure the feeling of seeing the unknown and no one believing me. It hurts when I remember the harsh words of my friends.
He pats me in my head says, " I don't have much time to live you have taken over my business, and be polite to the tenants".
I ask him, " What are you saying? I only got home and you speak of leaving and who are the tenants?".
"You will know after my death, so have patience. You will meet him".
As he completed the sentence he breathed his last breath and his soul left in the very front of my eyes.
Outside the door of the room, I hear the creaking noise of the floorboard. I started to shiver as there was a cold presence in the back. I turned my head.
I saw him.
