49 A Friendly Visit

Kelvin entered the student infirmary room, and just like the female medical staff said, Carl and the others was there.

Carl, Ray, and Nathan were seated together on one of the beds, playing a game of cards. While Nao was seated separately, reading a certain book.

“Hey, what’s up guys” Kelvin said, as he approached them.

Hearing Kelvin’s voice, they all looked up

“Look at who decided to show up. How have you been bro?” Carl asked.

“I’m alright; this couple of days has been really boring though.” Kelvin replied.

“So, I heard that you guys will be discharged soon.”

“Yeah, we’ll be discharged tomorrow. The healers said they needed to run a couple more test to make sure we’re fully good.” Nathan said.

“I guess we were all pretty roughed up during the trials.” Ray added.

“Yeah, anyway I’m glad that you guys are alright.” Kelvin said.

‘Should I ask them about the trials? I doubt they’ll remember anything, but just in case…’

“Hey, do you guys remember anything about your trials?” Kelvin asked.

“Nope” Carl replied.

“Same here; I don’t really remember the details.” Nathan added.

“You asked before, but my answer is still no.” Ray said.

Nao looked away from her book, and glanced at Kelvin for a few seconds.

“No, I also have hazy memories about it; but what about you Ken? Why do you ask? Do you remember anything?” Nao asked.

‘I can tell Carl about the mysterious men, but should I really tell the others? Kelvin thought, while looking at his friends.

After thinking for a while, Kelvin sighed and said,

“I do remember a few things. But just like you said, they’re really blurry.”

“Well, who cares the good thing is that we are all safe.” Ray said.

“Yeah, and I can’t wait to get out of here.” Carl added.

“Well, majority of the students are healed, so we’ll be resuming our classes soon.” Kelvin said.

After that, they all talked, and laughed till high noon. Kelvin even joined Carl, Ray and Nathan in their card game. But after playing for a while, he decided to head back.

“I think I’ll be going guys. I’ll see you all tomorrow.” Kelvin said, while walking towards the door.

“See you later Ken.” Ray said.

“Yeah, we’ll see you later.” Nathan added.

“Ken, wait. I’ll see you out.” Carl said, following Kelvin.

The both of them walked through the school infirmary halls, and after walking for a while, Carl said,

“Kelvin, what’s wrong? Back there, you were acting as if everything was okay, but we’ve been friends since we were Kids; so I can see right through your act. Do you actually remember something from your trial?”

Kelvin stopped walking and replied,

“I wish it was just that. But this time it’s something different.”

“What is it? Is it the demon?” Carl asked.

“Yeah, the demon concealing bracelet is broken; so, the demon has been acting up recently. I even spoke with George about it this morning.” Kelvin replied, while showing the bracelet to Carl.

“Ugh, this is freaking messed up… So what did George say? Will he be sending another demon concealing bracelet?” Carl asked.

“I’m not sure yet. He said he will look into it. Well, for the time being, he said I should make use of this.” Kelvin replied, while bringing out the small pouch of black salt from his pocket, and handing it over to Carl.

Carl opened up the pouch, and looked into it.

“Hmmm, black salt; I’ve heard about it once. So how effective is it?”

“I don’t know yet. But I’ll find out soon enough.” Kelvin replied.

Carl let out a sigh, before saying,

“Okay, don’t let this entire thing get you down. Just let me know if anything goes wrong. We’ll talk more about this later.”

“Yeah, no problem” Kelvin replied.

After their quick conversation, they both bid each other farewell, and with that, they went their separate ways. Carl went back to the student infirmary room, while Kelvin was headed back to the male dorms.

As Kelvin walked back towards the male dormitory, he pondered deeply about a lot of things.

‘Recently, a lot of things have been going on in my young teenage life. I’ve been experiencing a lot of crazy shit; firstly the masked men from the trials, then this stupid demon. Ugh, and I still have to deliver some weird item to some merchant gramps.’

“Should I just tell Uncle Ruckus that I won’t be able to pull it off?” Kelvin asked himself.

“But I really love that whip-sword though; wait, I shouldn’t think too much about this. Just like Carl said, I’m not supposed to let this demon stuff get to me. I’ll have to push through with the delivery mission.”

“That being said, I still have to prepare a lot for the mission.” Kelvin said, as he rushed into the male dorms.

Entering his dorm room, Kelvin began to prepare intensively. He started by sorting out a possible escape route, and then he also selected a thick black clothing, which consisted of a black hooded sweater and trouser, to conceal him in darkness.

Kelvin also came up with an emergency excuse back-up plan just in case he gets caught.

“Now all I need is a good facial disguise.” Kelvin said to himself.

As Kelvin was thinking of the best possible mask to use, an idea clicked in.

“Wait a minute; I already have the best facial mask that one can think of.” Kelvin said, while rushing into the bathroom.

He stood in front of his closed off mirror and thought,

‘Ugh, I almost forgot about my issue with mirrors. What if the demon shows up again?’

“Well this is more important; and it’s not like the demon can harm me through the mirror any way.” Kelvin said, as he pulled out the piece of cloth he used in covering up the mirror.

“Now let’s see; which facial features should I use?"
