Chapter 19 The King of Demons

As the fight starts to break out the King of Demons summons more allies to fight with him. So before we can even fight him we had to eliminate all of his minions. I used my Reaper's Slash to clear a pathway to the King. As fast as we could clear the enemies they would just be summoned again. This time Jin and I combined our Reaper's and Angelic Slash and because of the combined power the enemies didn't reappear right away. The fight was going easier than we expected which started to worry us. We decided to use Jin's Spear of Calamity on the King so we didn't have to get close to him. As the sky opened up with a bright light we had a glimmer of hope that this fight would end quickly. As the spear came crashing down the King raised his hand, caught the spear, and tossed it aside like a toothpick.

"You think that little thing would be able to stop me?"

We pulled back to discuss our options on what to do. If he could catch the spear and just toss it aside that means he may be able to stop our other skill as well. We tried flanking him from both sides hoping one of us could land a hit on him. I went in, swung my scythe, and to no surprise, he grabbed it by the blade and swung me right into Jin knocking us both back. I whispered to Jin that I was going to attack again and deliberately miss then he would come in behind me for a real attack. Jin was hesitant about my plan working but without any ideas of his own, he went along with it. I rushed at the King swinging my scythe once again but this time I overshot on purpose hoping he would take the opportunity to try and attack me so Jin could land a hit on him. My plan had worked and the King turned and went after me leaving him open and Jin was able to land his Angelic Slash. Even though his attack connected with him by no means was this fight over though.

"You think that pathetic attack was going to stop me?"

Jin's attack left a massive slash mark running down the King's back but it seemed like the King was barely wounded and that didn't stop him unleashing Hell Fire on us. As we try and dodge all the attacks the King takes the offensive and tries hitting us mid-air. We manage to dodge his strike but know that we can't draw this fight on much longer. We knew what we had to use but would be able to harness enough of our power to kill him? It was the only chance we had though. Jin and I started gathering as much of our power as we could muster and launched the biggest World of Ruin than ever before. The King reached out his hands trying to block our energy orb. We decided that for the extra measure we would also send another Spear of Calamity but this time we sent it through the energy orb piercing him to the ground while the orb struck afterward. The spear's power caused a reaction that increased the orb's power ten-fold.

When the dust cleared and the light dimmed we could see that there was nothing left of anything as far as the eye could see. We began searching around for signs of the guild members and Satoshi when we came across the partial remains of a castle. I looked at Jin and asked if he thinks this belonged to the King. He nods and says yes assuming we didn't destroy any other structures just now. We went inside and we saw Satoshi and the guild locked up in cages. I broke the cages open and stopped to look around. I saw the circular outline of our last attack and if we had been any closer towards this castle then everybody here would have also been killed.

We escorted everybody back to the portal and finally, the nightmare they went through was over. We made sure to patch up anybody that needed it but lucky for us nobody was close to dying. We walked up to Satoshi, gave him a hug and kiss, and said we will see him when he got home. We then left and headed home ourselves. When we got home we thought long and hard about what happened and the other possible outcome. Yes, we won against the King of Demons but we almost killed everybody in the process. We both never imagined that when we started this game we would have gained such tremendous powers but also be responsible for the lives of the people we love and the friends that we've made.

Our bodies were taking longer and longer to change back every time we used our demonic and angelic forms. When we finally looked normal again Satoshi was just getting home. He immediately hugged us both thanking us for saving everybody. I said to him that I was cooking dinner tonight to give him a break after when he went through. When we were all done eating we all headed to the bath to clean up and try to relax. We wanted to forget the thought that we were almost responsible for the deaths of others. Afterward, we all headed to bed, and Jin and I wrapped our arms around Satoshi holding him tight.

The next morning we woke up and had an update to our quest log. It had been a while since the last main quest we did so we were wondering what it was. 'Attention player- You've come along way and if you're seeing this I congratulate you. Are you ready for the final quest? Are you ready to face Death itself?' I looked over to Jin who had just finished reading the message and said what do you think it means face Death itself? His only thought was that we had to die to finally escape this game. I replied saying how that doesn't make any sense because if we die in the game we would also die in real life. That's what we were told on day one.
