Chapter 14 Ancient Ruins

The next morning we were all curious as to what the guild decided on. Since we didn't include ourselves in the voting process we didn't know what to expect. After everybody was awake Jin and I kissed Satoshi and then teleported to the guildhall. We were welcomed by the entire guild with open arms. I asked if they were able to come to a decision or not. They told us that they couldn't decide on just one person to run the guild. Assuming we would have to have a tie-breaker somehow we were quickly told that wouldn't be necessary. The guild's decision was for Jin and I to run the guild together. We asked why they chose us. Their answer was because we showed that the safety of the guild members was more important to us than anything. The members who we had fought with knew we wouldn't deliberately put them in harm's way. Once their decision was finalized we all celebrated with a huge feast. The only problem was their favorite cook wasn't there with us.

They all enjoyed Satoshi's cooking since it was better than any of theirs. I told them that I would head home and ask him to come back to the guildhall with me. When I got home I explained to Satoshi the guild's decision and their request. He had a look of joy on his face and happily agreed to be the guild's cook. We both headed back and everybody was excited that Satoshi had agreed. I had expressed that there wouldn't be a guild mission anytime soon since I wanted the members to mourn the loss of their teammates and be able to relax before we decided on a mission. However, we did express to them that they should keep training on their own to hone their skills. We didn't want to see any of them dying and we expressed that we wanted to see everybody make it back to the real world.

The guild member's suggested that we erect memorials for our fallen teammates where we fought the captain. It was secluded and they would be able to pay their respects when they were ready too. I agreed that it was a nice sentiment and a good way to honor their memory. As Jin and I observed how everybody acted around each other we could tell they were a tight-knit family. As the two strongest members of the guild, it was our job to keep them all safe. I knew that we would need to find a new place to train now and personally I was thinking somewhere next to the ocean. I brought up my idea to Jin and he was in favor of it. We let the guild know that we would be leaving for the day and that in a few days we would decide on a quest together and also new roles within the guild. Not everybody likes fighting or they are tired of it so we want them to be able to do something they are comfortable with.

We searched for a location near the ocean that was secluded enough and away from innocent players. Off in the distance, across the ocean, there was a good size island that looked like it would be perfect. It looked like the only way to get there was either by boat or with wings. We didn't see any boats nearby and to our knowledge, we were the only players with wings. We flew over to the island and upon arriving we saw there were ancient ruins deep within the center of the island. Curious as to what they were off we decided to investigate a little. There weren't too many enemies around right now but they could spawn at any time. Not knowing what their level would be we didn't want to stick around too long until we had time to prepare. We briefly looked around the perimeter of the ruins and there wasn't much that the outside could tell us. We decided to call it a night and return tomorrow to explore the inside. We teleported back to the house where Satoshi was patiently waiting for our return. He told us how the guild was trying their best to have a good time today but he could tell they were sad. I told him that they will be sad for a while. It's hard moving on from something like that.

I changed the subject to brighten up the mood by explaining to Satoshi how Jin and I found an island off the coast that we might be able to train on. I also told him how there is some sort of ancient ruins there and that we are going back tomorrow to check out the inside of them. Satoshi was happy for us that we possibly found a new place to train. I started getting hungry and told Satoshi that I would cook tonight and to go take a relaxing bath while he waited.
