At the periphery of the eastern part of the Unknown Continents.

The hazy sky was a stretch of gray and black, emitting a heavy sense of oppression. It was as if someone had smudged the sky with smoggy ink allowing it to plunge into the clouds, darkening entire skies.

The clouds folded over each other, merging, shooting out streaks of red lightning that stretched for miles, accompanied by thunderous rumbling sounds.

The sounds were akin to the low-sounding roars of mythical beasts reverberating through the puny mortal world.

The radiation-soaked precipitation emanated a trace of sorrow, descending onto darkened dirt.

In the vast land, there was a ruined grassland completely devoid of vitality.

The center of this park was once a huge Lake believed as one of the Nine Wonders Of The World—because its waters float in the air for about a few moments. This was enough to attract enormous audiences and foreign tourists.

However, desolation and dilapidation painted the scene bleak. Everything was withering and collapsed camps and buildings could be seen everywhere. One could also find numerous dried skeletons with little to no flesh and scattered hollow bones that resembled rusted leaves underneath a mango tree.

The once-bustling park was now in shambles, it was an extremely shocking sight.

The lake that was once categorized as the Nine Wonders Of The Earth was still filled with water. However, it was crammed with all manner of disgusting objects and it stunk with an intensity that rivaled the rotten corpses of a hundred obese men.

Its color was long dyed black, exuding a gloomy and eerie aura. Its surface rippled sometimes and a few drops of black water floated upwards for a few seconds before dropping to the.

Two meters to the edge of the pool, a figure could be seen laying there.

This was a juvenile that seemed around 14 to 15 years old. His clothes were tattered and filled with dirt. He camouflaged himself with the skeleton-filled sand.

The youth squinted his eyes as he lay there unmoving. The burning heat seeped through the holes of his clothes from all directions, enveloping his entire body, gradually causing his body temperature to grow.

But even when the burning sensation reached a high intensity, he didn't blink. He was coldly staring at the floating pool like a wolf.

The youth was like a hunter, patiently waiting for his chance.

A long time later, a chance arrived. The floating orb of black water floated with a fish within. It flapped its tail strongly, resisting the mysterious force that brought it out of the water.

One inch,

Two inches,

Three inches!

"Boom!"

The young man exploded forwards with an intense ferocity, rapidly approaching the pool like a fired arrow. A cold light could be seen gleaming within his pupils.

His hands formerly hidden within the buried sand finally revealed a long stick taller than him in his grip.

The tip of the wooden stick embedded with an iron spear glimmered with cold sharpness.

The struggling fish seem to have caught a glimpse of something and began to struggle even more with intense ferocity, flapping its tail powerfully against the barrier.

Finally, it's struggle paid off and it broke through the lump of water with a splash.

However, it was too late.

The black iron stick—as the youth with a face devoid of all emotions albeit determination, twisted his waist and left shoulder forwards, he erupted with his entire might and heavily tossed the wooden spear.

"Whoosh!"

The wooden spear transformed into a black streak that gored through the air with a slight shrill.

Pu!

The sharp iron stick accurately pierced into the body of the fish, breaking its scale but it was only able to injure it and not kill it.

"Splash!"

The darkness swirled violently as the dark-scaled fish leapt back inside the lake.

Ignoring the burning pain of his muscles and the itchiness of the acidic rain on his skin, the young man grabbed at a thin rope tied to his waist and quickly pulled the rope as though his life depended on it.

"Bang!"

His heels dug deep into the sand, panting and sweating profusely as he leaned backwards and pull.

The rope was actually connected to the Wooden spear stabbed into the body of the Black-scale fish.

Blood dripped on the ground. The fishing line had dug deep into his palm. But the young had no change of expression. The ruthlessness in his eyes got even deeper as he held on.

It was now a race to see who had more stamina. The Black-scale fish was an ordinary C-cell beast and possessed incredible strength comparable to a full-grown adult.

The youth was merely able to struggle with it entirely because it was wounded if not, he would have been yanked into the lake by the strength of the Black-scaled fish.

Time enacted. To some people, a few minutes might seem like a flash, while to some, it seemed eternal, as every moment that pulsed, passed painfully slowly.

This young man was among the latter. Acidic rain trickled against his skin, slowly turning his skin purple and stinging bitterly against his eyes.

"Pita! Patta! "

Sweat pooled down below him, mixing with the muddy ground. Blood from his injured palm trailing on the string, ultimately giving in to gravity and plunging to the ground.

Fatigue visible on his flushed face with his muscles, strength, and determination, pushed to the limit

Despite all of this, the young man didn't relent. Even as energy slowly left him, his mouth kept mumbling.

"78, one-thousandth, 79, one-thousandth!" He could feel the struggle from the Black-scaled fish diminishing as he hauled backward.

Finally, the struggle lessened incredibly. Immediately this happened, the young man coiled his arms around the rope with a grace of a million practice and pulled with his remaining strength.
