Demonic Entity

I've always thought I was haunted. Ever since I turned six, things began to move around on their own, but this usually only happened when I was alone. However, when I turned eighteen, whatever it was got violent. It threw things at me, rather than around me, and it began to whisper to me when my loved ones would die. It never told me to end my own life, it just kept forcing me to live in fear, threatening to kill my family, until one day it must've been satisfied with its fill of fear. I died, only to be given a rude awakening. I had no stairway to salvation, only a highway to damnation. (Temp Cover Art)

Incursion : Vance Müller (2)

Vance Müller. The brat had appeared on one of Oscar's very few failed endeavors during his years as an active exorcist, and this failure just so happened to be towards the very end. Oscar seemed to have felt it coming, and he just knew he would have to pass along his ways eventually. What he never expected was just how this would come to fruition.

It was a particularly cold day, the safeguards against cold temperatures all over this city had been unable to combat the all-time lows that had plagued the area that winter. Pipes burst and bridges fell, making it especially difficult to traverse the area. Not only was it unsafe due to the weather, there was an entity that he had been keeping tabs on since the spring. Oscar was often all over the eastern provinces this time of year, which is where he would be responding to even the vaguest hints of the paranormal as those were often the most accurate.

"There wasn't a damned thing about this in the weather report," the man huffed as if the whole situation was ridiculous.

He wasn't wrong, how could such extreme weather conditions simply pop out of thin air? There's not a chance he is suddenly wading through 4 feet of snow out of the blue, just when he is closing in on a long desired target. It was time. This particular target was known as the "Chance Demon." Those affected by the entity of experience a series of random events, all of which seem to scale in severity as time goes on. None that have been subject to the Chance Demon's feeding have survived.

It's only to be expected after all, how were you meant to deal with something that changes the very odds of the weather? Oscar, however, had been studying it for a long time. He had long since been prepared to undergo a hardship such as this, and nothing would stop him from getting the source today. He trudged on, making use of the drastic change in the environment to scale frozen cliffs where bridges had collapsed with nothing but the forked end of two hammers that were hilted on each side of his hip. There was a simple trick for him to know where he was going, and that was that the chance of there being extreme weather would only continue to grow as you got closer to the Demon.

And he could tell he was close, his body knew it. There was a massive whirlwind, streaks of white dancing around atop where a house used to be. The only clue to a home being there was the slanted chimney poking out from above the snow, situated just outside of the whirlwind. He could feel whatever heat he had left in his cheeks vanish as he dived headfirst into what would be certain death. Oscar's huge hand made contact with an orb-like object, and when he felt it in his grasp he knew he had won.

Even an entity couldn't simply bear these extreme conditions, but it could use its attribute to make such a thing feasible. For the Chance Demon? The chance of surviving just has to be quite high in a certain area around it, which just so happened to save Oscar's life. In one swift motion, he took up a hammer in his left as he held the orb tight in his right and swung down with all of his might. Almost instantly, the clouds overhead dispersed and all that was left around Oscar was a sea of white.

There was something strange though. He had noticed that, when he looked down there was a cylinder of untouched space going all the way down through the roof of the house down below. There, on the unblemished floor was a kid with brown hair looking up with confusion written all over his face. Not only that, but when the white light escaped from the orb it hadn't returned to hell. It had entered the boy.

"Mister, where's mommy?"

"You can't be that excited to kick their asses, can you boy?" Oscar cocked his right eyebrow, looking at that little boy all grown up with an incredulous expression, "It wasn't that long ago you were sucking a goat's teat calling the old lass your mother, tell me you aren't still that pathetic little thing."

"HAHAHAH!!! Oh you old fucking fart, you really know how to piss me off. I'll have you know I'll be working that out in therapy 'till the day I die, I hope you're proud of yourself," Vance couldn't stop laughing to curse the old man until there were tears in his eyes, and even then he barely managed to hold back his laughter for long enough to ensure what he said was understandable.

"And where do you think I've been all these years? I've been in therapy with this mighty fine lady called Tequila, you oughta schedule her sometime piece of shit," Oscar couldn't help but share the same joyful expression Vance had, although he wasn't losing his shit nearly as bad as the brat.

Unfortunately, this simply wasn't the time to engage in things like this. There was a storm coming, and it wasn't one that they would be able to predict. The game would be played as follows : two teams, humans and demons, would fight to obtain the most territory. The involved regions would be four states from the eastern region, including the sovereign state the Helion District. Up to five people of considerable strength and standing would be allowed to participate, while an almost countless number of useless grunts from the church would be for them to command. There is a similar restriction for the demons, the difference being that they would not be defending any territories from the start as their goal was to conquer those of the humans.

While the humans are at an advantage, it would very quickly become obvious that it is needed.

They have extraordinary powers already that they use to feed on the fears of the people of Earth.

And now, they can use the strength of their own physical forms and practiced skills as well.

Oscar and Vance, however, couldn't give two shits about that. Even if these other three end up as incompetent swine, they'll have the time of their lives.
