Chapter 1

Bong! Bong! Bong!

Citizens roamed around the streets of Blood Haven City - awaiting to hear who their next ruler would be. The city was filled with both anticipation and anxiousness as everyone gathered in the main square where announcements were made.

In Blood Haven City, there were no noble families, only a church of darkness. The citizens within the city were destitute , but when they made sacrifices within the church to show their dedication to their god, they would be blessed with power.

No one knew how this church came about to be , nor could they guess how its strength continued to grow and prosper. Today was the day that a new leader of the church was to be crowned, and none of the city dwellers wanted to miss this chance to witness the leader's power first hand.

The world was filled with war and every city had to choose who they allied themselves with. For cities like Blood Haven, which were too poor to have any type of impact during a war, many factions left it to rot away, hoping that one day, they could come in and take over without any issues.

"Are the preparations complete?" a dark-robed figure sitting on a wooden throne asked the room's occupants - innumerable men and women with dark auras who silently bowed towards him. This dark-robed figure was the leader of the local dark church and he had an extremely serious look in his eyes. It was as if he was feeling impatient and wanted his plan to begin immediately.

"Milord, I believe that the preparations are complete and that we can begin at any time. However, just like these committed followers of our church, I too am afraid that we will be wiped out by the Crimson Tower's forces." A woman dressed as an executioner who stood next to this man on the throne spoke openly.

This woman was dressed in a blood red robe and had long pitch-black hair. She looked like a demoness who could seduce every man within her sight at a moment's notice. However, she had a deep scar running across her cheek that married her beauty and left. her with a disconcerting gaze.

"The Crimson Tower's forces? They would have no reason to come to this remote area. If anything, my plan might alert our neighbours, at best, but by then it would be too late for anyone to act." The leader responded while he unleashed a sharp killing intent.

"Those who are fortunate enough to give in to our god's power, will survive and be able to gain strength from this last sacrifice. By tomorrow morning, we need to meet the local tyrant of this whole area and show him that our power is sufficient enough to start expanding our church within these lands."

"If all of you are ready, we can finally begin the sacrifice. Once this whole city and its citizens fall to their deaths, we will need to move quickly. If there are any delays caused due to anyone's negligence , you might not have the chance to see tomorrow's sunrise !" Finished with his words/threats,, the leader allowed the executioner under his command to give out the proper orders to his followers.

-Two hours later-

"Hello everyone, and welcome to the crowning of our new leader of the Dark Church . Thanks to everyone's personal sacrifices up until now, our church has been able to prosper, and everyone's strength has been able to grow quite a bit."

An announcer stood on the balustrade of the balcony of the church within the centre of the city and in her words, the citizens clapped, cheered and whooped in joy for as far as the naked eye could see. . It was a very cloudy day and the world seemed as if it would fall into darkness at any moment.

"The birth of a new leader is a sign of a new beginning, and that is what our church believes. . The new leader is someone that will lead not just our church, but all of you to greatness. Now, please hold the cards we distributed in your hands."

"Now, we will begin by concentrating hard and praying to our god using the cards as a medium to summon it. If any of you are having trouble, just remember t- "

Before the announcer could finish her sentence, an arrow flew towards her without warning. By the time the announcer could react, the arrow had already penetrated her skull, causing her to fall off the balcony and onto the pavement of the ground below.
