Chapter 11

"Remember guys, do not interfere in the fight no matter what. I believe that if I can win this fight, that we will all benefit from it. Plus, with so many faculty members joining in the crowd, the fight is guaranteed to at least be a fair one." Damien started to explain as he and his two best friends walked out of the classroom and towards the arena.

"Damien are you sure that your understanding level in using the sword will be enough to face that monster, Thomas?" Joel asked with a concerned look on his face. He was usually upbeat, but he was truly worried about his friend, even though deep down he knew that Damien trained harder than anyone else in the academy.

"Actually, I will be using my hammer for today's battle. I am more confident in wielding my hammer against an opponent like Thomas who also relies on his raw strength to defeat his opponents." Responded Damien as they exited the school and were close to the arena.

"You are more confident in using your hammer? Aren't upperclassmen the only students who can learn techniques when it comes to more than just the sword?" Morty asked in a shocked tone. Though this was not a law within the academy, all the students decided to remain in this route since that was a prerequisite in joining the tower.

Damien chose not to answer Morty's question as they finally entered the arena. Many students could be heard shouting and cheering towards Thomas who was warming up the crowd by playing with his weapon in a showboating manner.

Walking towards the stage to meet with Thomas, the crowd's cheering started to become even louder as they could now see that Damien had arrived. This meant that the spar would begin very soon and at this point, the majority of the crowd placed bets on who would win and who would lose.

As Damien finally stepped onto the stage, lights on the VIP area lit up as the lights showing the crowd dimmed down. Seeing the change and many faculty members in the VIP area, the crowd's cheers and shouts died down almost instantly.

"This is a spar between both Damien and Thomas. Both are part of the same generation, but only one of them is part of the genius status. We the faculty expect that this spar will be fair and any intruders who dare to enter the stage with ill intentions will be dealt with accordingly."

Surprisingly enough, the faculty member that made this announcement was none other than the Vice Principal of the academy. He was dressed in lavish battle armour with a sword covered in many different runes and wording on his back.

His appearance shocked the crowd because this was supposed to be only a simple spar between the youngest generation. The Vice Principle would never personally attend these types of matters, however, what they did not realize, was that the Vice Principal knew about who was training Damien and was interested to see just how far he had grown up until now.

Damien and Thomas faced each other, but neither made a move for a full minute. They just observed each other with their gaze to try and get into each other's minds. Thomas was the first to draw his weapon for the spar.

Thomas's sword was shaped like a massive club. The academy gave its students basic weapons, but some students who had better backgrounds and a better foundation in the outside world would be able to purchase stronger weapons. Thomas decided to use this extremely thick sword so that he could use his raw strength as a true advantage.

Damien however as he mentioned earlier to his friends, chose to withdraw a battle hammer from his storage ring. Every student within the academy was gifted a small storage ring that was able to hold all the basic weapons, some book material, medical supplies, and a small portion of food.

Back when the battle began between the Church of Light and the Dark Church, these storage rings were created as technological advances. This allowed many of the stronger individuals on each side, to survive for a longer period and could remain on the battlefield much longer. Another similar type of technological advances occurred, but these storage rings were one most commonly distributed.

Seeing Damien withdrawing a hammer instead of a sword, the crowd started to scream and shout in both anger and excitement. It seemed wise for Damien to use a weapon that could help him match Thomas's raw strength, but to give up the weapon he should be the most skilled in seemed ignorant to most of the students present.
