42 Chapter 42 : Cheerful Giyu Tomioka

The merchants slowly started to began to light campfires to warm up and prepare food. The light began to dispel the darkness around the shrine, bringing some warmth. Everyone sat on the ground without any scruples and began to gossip. Some people even started to eat dry rations.

The young boy who looked like Giyu finished his dinner and after finishing his work, he sat alone in the corner of the campfire, covering his cloth bag with a happy smile on his face. As if feeling something, the young boy raised his head involuntarily and met a pair of golden eyes.

"It seems you cherish this thing very much, is it a precious thing?"

Haurto gently smiled and pointed to the cloth bag in Giyu's hand

Tomioka Giyu showed a little bit of vigilance but soon realized that the other party didn't seem to have any malicious intentions, so he was slightly relieved. Carefully opening the cloth bag it revealed a female hairpin. Under the faint light, it exudes a little sparkle in it.

"It's quite beautiful."

Haruto couldn't help but praise. Hearing the praise, Giyu's face was obviously happy: "This is for my sister. I think she will like it very much."

At this moment, Giyu had already imagined in his mind that this hairpin would look stunning when placed in the black hair of his sister Tsutako Tomioka and it would definitely make her sister's white skin look even more beautiful, right?

Since they lost their parents in their childhood, they only had each other to rely on, Although it was hard they were able  to live well because of the money and house left behind by their parents. His sister has always taken good care of him. This time her sister got a marriage proposal, so he decided to work with the traveling merchants to save some sum of money, so that he can buy this hairpin for his sister.

"Your sister will definitely like it and will praise you for being a good brother."

Seeing Giyu who loves his sister quite much, Haruto also showed a smile but thinking of Giyu's situation in the future, he couldn't help but frown.

If he was not mistaken, in the anime the day before Giyu's sister held her wedding, the Tomioka family was attacked by a demon and Giyu escaped the disaster because he was saved by his sister's sacrifice. However that day Giyu lost his last family member which transformed him into the future Giyu who was emotionless and reserved toward everyone. Losing her sister made him afraid to make new connection who may very well be dead in the future. So the Giyu depicted in the anime was born that day.

'So his sister is still alive because of which he still have a cheerful personality now. I guess the current Giyu is better compared to his future counterpart who keeps everyone at a hand's distance. I guess I will have to change my destination, it's quite a stroke of luck to meet him before the tragedy, it looks like even god is helping me or maybe it's you Ryoto helping me meeting them. But now the problem is how would I bring up the topic of visiting his house, if I go uninvited it will look quite creepy.'

"My sister won't praise me."

Giyuu shook his head gently. Maybe his hard-working sister would frown and say he's "too wasteful" to spend money to buy such a beautiful hairpin. However, no matter what his sister says about that, his sister will definitely be happy in her heart.

"Your sister is lucky to have such a good brother." Haruto commented.

"The lucky one is actually me to get her as my sister. If not for her maybe I wouldn"t be alive till now"

"If possible, I really hope my sister can live happily for the rest of her life."

Giyu spoke seriously.

"Is that so. Now I really hope to see your sister who raised a good brother like you." Haruto said curiously.

"You can come to my house as a guest. My sister will be happy if I bring someone as a guest for her."

Giyu looked up and spoke enthusiastically. It was quite plain to see that Giyu's sister was kind because of which Giyu didn't think much about peoples inner darkness. It was both good and bad thing, well it means his sister raised him with lots of love.

"Thank you very much but it will be very troublesome for you."

Haruto smiled, if possible he still hoped to help Giyu on his way. He didn't want Giyu to fall into self-blame in the future, who couldn't even get out of the psychological shadow for a while, just like him who failed to help his friend in time.

"There's no trouble in that, you should definitely come with me if you don't have any prior engagement."

Giyu offered and at the same time, pointed to Kanao sleeping there not far away from them: "Is that girl your sister?"

"No, she's actually my fiancee."

Haruto smiled fondly looking at sleeping Kanao.

"Before I noticed she didn't talk much....."

Giyu unconsciously blurted out what was on his mind.

"Well Kanao doesn't like talking to people very much. But she's a very kind girl. It's just that life hasn't been very kind to us before" Haruto spoke with a little sadness.
