38 Chapter 36

Shortly after leaving the HQ they both returned to the Butterfly Mansion and they both were in Kanao's room sitting on her bed.

"You think that guy was the Demon Hashira?" Seikichi asked.

"Mm, I never actually seen him, but heard about him from Shinobu." Kanao replied.

"What's wrong?" Seikichi asked as he noticed her anxiety. After seeing Toshiro she seemed to be perplexed by something.

"…That demon's really strong. He must've ate a lot of people while he was alive." Kanao said.

"Yeah, I noticed that as well. Still though, I find it crazy that there's a demon stronger than him and even more weird that a demon would work with the DSC and vice versa."

"How long do you think he's been around?" Seikichi asked.

Kanao hunched her shoulders and the perturbed look on her face didn't fade very much as she was in deep thought.

Seikichi stood up as he pat her head and sighed.

"Let's get some sleep." He said.

Kanao slightly smiled as she watched him leave her room. He turned to the right and slowly cracked open the door if the room next to hers.

Peeking inside he saw Hinā was sound asleep. He walked in quietly and sat down on the floor with his legs crossed as he sighed.

"It seems like your brother still likes to play hide and seek, but I guess this time I'm the seeker. I promised to hold the place of big brother for you, but maybe I won't need to anymore." Seikichi said with another sigh.

He noticed that in her black hair, there were streaks if white visible and his previously tired expression changed as he tilted his head in a questioning manner.

"Maybe Shinobu could figure this out." He muttered as he stood, kissed her forehead, and left the room and soon made his way to Tengen's estate and started packing some stuff up.

He didn't tell Kanao of his plans mainly because he saw how distraught and troubled she was already looking. He didn't want to just be like "Oh yeah, I'm leaving to find Kyoshi can you come with me?"

That's way too selfish and insensitive on his part as he would only be worrying about his own problems.

Then again, randomly leaving to go figure his own stuff out while leaving Kanao also made him feel displeased with himself. Still though, he knew what he wanted to do and he knew what he had to do.

After hearing the conversation between the Demon Hashira and the leader, he didn't plan on just staying here neither was he about to let his best friend end up as a puppet.

While he did want to kill Muzan like every other demon slayer, he'd give up on that and be happy if he could even have a piece if the family he lost 4 years ago.

He already knew and accepted the fact that his personal family is gone and already taking part in the afterlife. While revenge did start out as his goal, the recent talk of Kyoshi from both demons and the DSC he felt he had an obligation to look into it.

If not for himself, then for Hinā so she could see her real big brother.

(Rin POV)

"Ughhh, after all of this searching I've only found like 8 kanoto rank Demon Slayers. And those guys are really weak. Should I step it up to impress sensei?" She muttered to herself.

She was currently in an open field with three dead bodies in front if her. All Demon Slayers that got killed easily.

Rin kinda admired Kyoshi. Not to be confused with love or an obsession, but students naturally like being complimented by their teachers.

It's a sign of progress and good work which shows the receiver of the compliment that their hard work paid off. Rin was just like that as well.

Kyoshi was strong; extremely so and she wanted to keep improving towards him and Muzan's expectations. When you're sparring and always getting beat it seems like no matter what you're doing you're not improving.

She felt as if that's why Kyosbi kept training her, because he saw no improvements. Obviously, she was wrong. Kyoshi's just too strong for her and honestly he's coming up past Daki in terms of over all power.

So instead of 10 Kanoto rank Demon Slayer, she decided to push her limits and look for as many as she can within three days. Then she'd show them to Kyoshi and hopefully get some praise.

With that, she ran away from the bodies that were grossly dismembered and took off in a random direction. She was told that she should practice moves with her poison and she decided that she'd use it on her next victim.

—A Few Hours Later—

Rin could be seen standing inside a village that was cleared out and around her were 8 dead demon slayers. Their arms and legs were broken or crushed along with tendons being sliced and deep cuts over their bodies.

Along with being almost unrecognizable, they had cyan blue veins throbbing on their body. Their skin looked as if it was melting away and some clear liquid leaked from their bodies.

"So I don't really need to transform in order to use my poison? That's neat." Rin said as she looked at the cyan nails.

Other than that she found out two new things. First, she can control the potency of the venom to make it kill slower or fast. Second, her nails seemed to not actually be coated in the venom, but it still spread the effect into anyone she could make an insertion into.

It was like a virus.

Suddenly a chill ran down Rins back as she ducked and immediately turned around. A kunai shot over her head and seemed to keep going about 100 or so yards.

Standing a bit far away from Rin was a girl with long and messy, chocolate brown hair. Her purple eyes glared at Rin as she looked at the bodies around her.

Obviously, it was Yui. She heard news from her messenger crow of a nearby village that's been attacked multiple times by demons. The demons seemed to only take a few people every 3 weeks and it went on like that.

Hearing of this recent news, Yui decided to go see if she could kill the demon and save the village from the demons.

"Oh, you aren't a Demon Slayer." Rin said.

Yui unsheathed a ninjatō from behind her and took off her backpack as she threw it to the side.

Rin noticed Yui's serious demeanor and looked at her with an unbothered expression. Yui, took a step forward and vanished before appearing behind Rin, ready to decapitate her. Rin ducked under the slash and kicked her leg out as she tried to sweep Yui's legs.

Yui jumped back and spun around as she shot out multiple kunai towards Rin who jumped away as the kunai sank into the ground.

"Fine, Kyoshi sensei might be proud if I bring you back to be a demon." Rin said with a grin.

Rin dashed towards Yui.

'She's fast!!' Yui thought as she saw Rin speeding towards her. Once close enough, Rin seemingly slithered behind Yui as she flexed her claws and slashed her hand towards Yui's neck.

Yui reacted quickly as she raised the flat side of her blade and deflected the attack to the right as she then swung the blade to the left towards Rin's neck.

Seeing this, Rin grabbed Yui's right wrist with her right hand before she spun around and threw her back before shooting forward.

She took a sharp breath of air as her eyes narrowed.

'Serpent Breath: Forth Form; Twin-Headed Reptile.'

Rin leapt forward and spun to the left as she went to kick Yui in the stomach. Yui had already recovered from being thrown and breathed in as she prepared an attack.

'Shinobi Style: Fujin Cuts!!'

Quickly, Yui shot out three cuts in quick succession and within moments, Rin's right leg was cut into three pieces, but the attack was called "Twin-Headed Reptiles" for a reason.

Rin spun and her left leg was aimed right towards Yui's head. She out up the flat side if her tanto and blocked the attack although she was pushed back by the force.

Her blade was cracked and Yui saw that it'll be useless so she threw it to the side and took out two kunai.

"You're really strong. You should let my sensei turn you into a demon." Rin said with a small grin on her face.

"I've been meaning to ask you, but could you repeat your sensei's name?" Yui asked with a sharp gaze.

"Kyoshi sensei? Why?"

'Thought I heard right, but to think he'd have such a student…'

"Hey, don't ignore me." Rin said as she slashed towards Yui's neck. Yui ducked as she took a step back, but Rin kept going.

She mixed her slashes with kicks that nearly connected with some of Rin's vitals, but she either dodged or blocked them.

It was as if she was fighting a three headed snake. Rin's movements were fast and sharp. Just like Yui's Shinobi Style, both forms were focused on killing the opponent as fast as possible or trapping them.

Yui was getting tired. Her arms were hurting from the constant blocking and her thighs and calfs ached from all the dodging.

Rin however, wasn't letting up. Like all demons, she had infinite stamina.

Her attacks came one after the other and finally, one kick broke through Yui's guard and sent her flying back. She struggled to get up as he muscles were already aching.

"This fight could've been so much better if you were a demon." Rin said. She dashed towards Yui before her body instinctively jumped away.

'Water Breathing: Eighth Form; Waterfall Basin.'

Moments later a man with unruly black hair that was tied into a ponytail at the back of his head; came falling from the sky and landed where Rin was before she jumped away.

He had sharp, deep, sapphire eyes that faded into a lighter blue at the bottom. His bangs lightly fell over them, but didn't seem to get in the way of his vision.

Rin looked at the man with slightly wide eyes she stayed silent.

'Giyu Tomioka. The Water Hashira!!'

Rin's body was completely on high alert. She knew from her time in the DSC that the Water Hashira wasn't a careless person and was incredibly strong.

For the first time since becoming a demon, Rin felt a little scared. Well, it was to be expected when your opponent is a Hashira.

"W-wait. Giyu, she's Kyoshi's discipline. Don't kill her or I'm sure something big will happen." Yui said as she caught her breath and shakily stood up.

"I see…" Giyu said as his words dragged on. This would be easier if he could just kill her, but then their chances of getting Kyoshi on their side would hit zero.

But there wasn't a real way to detain a demon. If he held her down, she can just dislocate some joins and get away from him.

Or if he cut off her legs, they'd grow back. There wasn't a way to capture her which would be better to use her as a hostage to meet Kyoshi. But as previously stated, there wasn't a realistic way to do any of that.

Giyu turned his back and went towards Yui, who had fully caught her breath and looked fine other than some bruising.

Seeing this, Rin prepared to turn around and run away, but suddenly heard Yui calling out to her.

"Wait!!" She yelled as she saw Rin getting ready to leave.

Yui dug into her pockets and pulled out a sheathed tanto, that had the word "Fuji" inscribed onto it.

"Give this to your sensei and tell him it's from Yui. Tell him that after what happened at the village, I really want to see him and talk about a few things." Yui said as she held the sheathed blade out towards Rin.

Giyu grabbed the blade and tossed it towards her and she caught it before looking at it.

She questioned how Yui knew her sensei, but she took a guess and figured they were old friends at some point.

She nodded her head and after taking one last glance at Giyu, she ran off at full speed with a sonic boom happening as she took off.

"…You need more training." Giyu said. Hearing this, Yui groaned, but couldn't refute his words.

"We'll leave most of the search to everyone else for a while. You'll need to be out through the ringer if you actually want to be useful in this search." He added.

**********************************************

Yui is not weak just so you know. It's just that she's still human and getting tired and also gets fatigued while demons don't.

Don't even try to compare her to a Hashira because she's not even close to one.

It's okay tho. She bout to go through a crazy training arc and yes this should be pretty obvious, but stuff won't end in the same year it did in the manga.

And if you don't want manga spoilers don't read past this sentence.

So bruh, after re-reading the manga, the fact that the DSC won is total bs. Take Douma for example, it's already clear that Demons can smell different types if blood and even smell food once and track it to its source from the smell.

So tell me how Douma wasn't able to smell the wisteria running through Shinobu's blood when he ate her which led to his death?

Honestly it got so many inconsistencies and plot holes that y'all already know I'm bout to take advantage of, but honestly.

Tbh, the only thing carrying the anime is fights and animation. I can get this same plot from any other shounen tbh.

I'm not dropping the ff, but they needa rename this Decent Slayer, cuz nah.

And how tf do you smell the future?

Tanjiro can def smell when the females was on they period.
