5 Dire Circumstance

Akiko woke up from her slumber in the middle of the night, her eyes fluttering open. For some unknown reason she felt the air in the atmosphere was quite hot, feeling a sense discomfort, she rose up from her mat and made her way to the kitchen, which was a few steps away.

She went to drink water, but suddenly, a piercing scream jolted her senses. Keeping the glass aside, she quickly approached the front door of her house, opening it she walked outside to find what is happening.

However, she never anticipated that the very scene she had witnessed sixteen years ago would unfold before her eyes once again. Flames covered the huts, and the villagers are fleeing in Panic. Her heart raced within her chest as she absorbed the situation of the village.

"Q-Quinn." She stuttered, her voice trembling as she called out for her son.

However, amidst the chaos, her attention was abruptly drawn by a sinister looking demon that was crawling on the ground. It was covered in blood, the creature didn't seem to have intelligence as it gurgled and started crawling towards Akiko.

With supernatural agility, the demon closed the distance in just a second, its outstretched arms ready to pierce Akiko's trembling body.

However, before the creature could do anything, it was suddenly sent flying through the air by a force filled kick from Quinn. Akiko was astonished and awe-struck at her son's sudden appearance, as he appeared out of thin air.

"Mother, Stay behind me." Quinn spoke, His gaze turned towards the demon he had just sent flying, the creature quickly regained its footing, with a confused look, it crawled towards different direction.

"Quinn, what is happening here? what are those things?" Despite her seeing doma in the past, Akiko had never seen a demon with her own eyes.

"I don't know!" Quinn's voice resonated, but the screams and cry's from the villagers drowned his voice.

Despite his strength, Quinn lacked the senses of a Demon Slayer or a true demon. Consequently, he could only rely on his instincts to locate the demons who are ravaging the village.

Suddenly, his eyes caught a glimpse of a shadow emerging from the flames infront him and steadily advancing towards him.

"Oy Oy! Looks like we've got someone who can match a demon's strength, Where did a demon slayer come from?" The demon emerged, revealing it face, it was a male demon with a pale face and black hair. His hands and mouth were smeared with fresh blood.

"Nah, you aren't a demon slayer. You have no sword, and you don't look like a demon either. But, what extraordinary strength you have. I wonder how delicious your flesh will taste." A sinister grin appeared across the demon's face as he abruptly lunged towards Quinn.

"Quinn, get out of here!" Akiko shouted, her voice trembling with fear as her haunting memories resurfaced within her mind.

Despite her desperate plea, Quinn didn't run, refusing to budge from his position.

The demon's mouth twisted into a wicked chuckle as it appeared before Quinn, its hands moved in blur as they surged forward towards his heart.

But, "Huh?" The demon's astonished exclamation escaped its lips as it saw the sight of Quinn clutching his hands with ease, rendering it immobile.

Rising his right leg, Quinn gave a powerful kick directly into the demon's stomach, channeling his full strength. The force of the impact sent it flying backward, while Quinn mercilessly tore apart its limbs before it gone flying.

Akiko's eyes widened in awe as she witnessed what he did, a wave of nauseousness washed over her after seeing the blood. Surprisingly, Quinn remained unfazed, probably the demon blood granting him immunity to such things.

"Mother, we need to get out of here." Quinn said, swiftly turning around and lifted his mother into his arms effortlessly.

Despite knocking away the demon, Quinn's eyes caught the sight of several other demons attacking the village. Realizing he couldn't protect his mother while simultaneously battling them, he decided to prioritize their safety and flee.

Akiko's mind was still in shock, but sensing what's happening she suddenly snapped back as she saw the grim scene happening in the village.

"Quinn, the villagers... they're being slaughtered." She gasped, her voice filled with horror.

"Mother, they're fleeing into the forest. We should also do so." Quinn replied, he decided to not conceal his special abilities in this situation since his mother already seen him kicking that demon anyway.

Thud!

Crash!

However, before he could escape, Quinn was abruptly struck with a powerful blow to his ribs, sending him flying through the air, while his mother stumbled on the ground.

"Kazen, hahaha! You've been wounded by this weak human, hahaha! How utterly humiliating!" A voice filled with mocking laughter resonated through the air, capturing the attention of the injured demon named Kazen, who shifted his gaze towards Quinn.

Rising from the ground, Kazen's arms gradually regenerated.

"Enough with your laughter, you bastard! That human dared to injure me. Call the other two; that boy possesses something special. We will share his flesh after killing him." Collaboration among demons was very rare, as they were inherently territorial creatures.

However, with the recent surge in human deaths in this region, the demon slayer corps was putting more of their attention here, which made the demons flee from their usual territories.

As they sensed their impending defeat at the hands of the demon slayers dispatched to eliminate them. After that, a group of four demons, accompanied by a few dim-witted minions, banded together and began launching attacks on small villages.

Naturally, these demons wouldn't willingly share such a valuable prize like Quinn and were likely to betray one another once he was eliminated.

Before any call could be made, another two demons of similar height and build materialized at the scene.

Completely ignoring Akiko's presence, the demons shifted their attention to where Quinn had been hurled, his body slowly emerged from the fallen house.

Quinn gradually rose to his feet while clutching his left side where his ribs were situated.

"Argh, my ribs are broken." He grunted, his breaths becoming ragged as blood started coming out from his mouth.

Despite possessing superior stamina and agility compared to the four demons, Quinn's human body hindered him.

The forceful kick had shattered his ribs, reminding him that his body was till human and it had its limits. Furthermore, being only part demon, his regenerative abilities were significantly weaker than those of a true demon, he had previously tested and confirmed it.

Quinn had discovered a butcher knife, in the rubbles of the house, which he now tightly grasped in his hand.

His eyes shifted to Akiko's injured body, she was unconscious from the fall. Despite seeping with anger, he managed to maintain his sense of calmness.

'These guys are really getting on my nerves.' He grumbled inwardly. 'I hope my current strength will be enough to handle all of them. If not, I might have to unleash my other side and I might not able to control myself than.' His gaze locked onto the approaching four demons, sprinting at full speed towards him.
