4 Chapter 4 - Academy Inspection
A month has passed since Anos reincarnated.
He spent the time looking into the world that is now two thousand years further on. It seems the magical arts have degenerated to a much lower level than he thought.
As a result of his reincarnation, Anos finds himself in an era that is vastly different from the one he knew before. The magical arts have greatly declined, and the concept of reincarnation magic is completely unknown.
As he expected, Humans don't seem to know about reincarnation magic at all.
It was rather common magic in the age that he had lived in. For high-ranking magic users, reincarnation magic was not unusual. However, in the present times, the concept of reincarnation magic does not exist.
In fact, reincarnation itself does not seem to be even considered possible in the present age.
Because of this, Despite that Anos was able to talk and use magic from birth, his parents instead see him as a very smart baby rather than a reincarnated being with extraordinary abilities.
In this situation, Anos tried to learn more about the unfamiliar world he has been reborn into and figure out how to best use his abilities in this new environment. He also tried to keep his abilities hidden from others, at least until he can better understand the situation and determine the best course of action.
He somehow feels a sense of isolation, not only was he potentially the only demon in this entire continent. He is also the only one in this human world who knows about reincarnation magic and has all the terrifying abilities that come with his past life.
As a result of his isolation, Anos felt a sense of loneliness and disconnection from the weak world around him. He doubted he would find others who understand and accept him for who he truly is, and he felt like an outsider in the human aristocratic family he has been reborn into.
Two thousand years ago he sowed his own seeds. With magic, He created 7 subordinates using his own blood and commanded them to have children and expand their bloodline. He needed a container that contained his blood for a successful reincarnation.
As he expected, over two thousand years the blood of the demon king Arnos did not die out, however, he did not expect it to mix with humans.
Moreover, the humans don't seem to know much about the Demons anymore. He asked his parents but they didn't know anything either. All they knew is that the Demons were some mythical creatures that were said to live in hell. They had no further information beyond that.
In order to cope with his isolation, Anos tried to find ways to connect with his human family and form meaningful relationships with them. He also searched for others who are also knowledgeable about magic, even if they do not know about reincarnation magic specifically.
The result was, his parents were overjoyed. He managed to make a strong familial bond with them that he never had in his past life. So far so good.
However, that's it. That was the only good thing that happened.
His brother Cid was avoiding him, and Anos was confused and a little bit hurt. He did not understand why his brother is avoiding him and he feels like he has done something to offend or hurt him.
Anos tried to talk to his brother and find out why he is avoiding him. He even tried to reassure his brother that he is not a threat and that he only wants to help and support him. But Cid refused to budge, he has done everything possible to avoid Anos all the time. The worst was the occasional smirk he would send at him whenever no one was looking at them.
Anos was absolutely bewildered by his brother's actions and nothing about him made any sense. He was like a strange box of mysteries and Anos didn't know where to start to open it.
He could feel incredible Magic Power coming from him. Yet the abilities he displayed were at best average. Even for this era's standard.
For the past month, Anos tried to be understanding and supportive, but his efforts were met with continued avoidance, so he become frustrated and somewhat angry.
He at one time considered using magic to read Cid's mind and his thoughts, but Anos eventually decided against it as that was unfair and he wanted to honor his brother's privacy. After all, everyone has a secret or two. Hell, he himself was a Demon King disguised as a human. He has no right to say anything.
Talking about disguising, the elf Beta was nowhere to be seen. He hadn't seen her even once since that time in the library. In fact, other women came one by one at a time in her place disguised in that same maid appearance. Since they didn't do anything major besides glaring at him, Anos ignored them for the time being.
For his sister. unfortunately, Anos did not meet her yet. He knows close to nothing about her besides the fact that she is the heir to the Kagenō Family. Currently, she is still attending an Academy in the capital of this country.
The Midgar Academy for Dark Knights. The most prestigious knight academy on the continent. It pulls in talented students from both inside and outside of the Midgar Kingdom. In Midgar, all aristocrats must attend this academy as a formality. Which means he is also required to attend it too.
Anos was concerned about the potential consequences of attending the academy. He was worried that revealing his abilities and knowledge could lead to unwanted attention or even persecution of his family. He was also thinking about the ethics of the methods taught at the human academy and whether they align with his own personal beliefs and moral code. Anos was not confident in holding back if an arrogant human brat was foolish enough to dare to disrespect him or those around him.
Alas, his bald father was ignorant of his thoughts as he had already called an inspector from the academy to test his abilities so they could see if he was worthy enough to attend the prestigious Academy as a special student.
Anos tried to talk to his father about this and explain his concerns and reservations about attending the academy. He even tried to make his father understand why he is hesitant and why he would prefer to attend normally after a few years. But his father is unwilling to listen to his concerns. Anos even thought about refusing to participate in the testing as a way to avoid attending the academy. But his pride as the Demon King of Tyranny would not allow him to take a such cowardly move.
This brings us to the current situation.
Anos looked down at the training sword that was thrown on the ground and then at the huge rock in front of him.
They were currently in the vast training field behind the mansion. His father and mother were standing at the side watching him. Cid was also present beside them with one of the disguised maids standing behind him. It was not Beta but one of the other women.
Then there was the inspector who has an arrogant expression on his face. The man in armor just walked in out of nowhere and abruptly threw a training sword rudely at his feet.
"Tsk, nowadays. Everyone thinks their child is a genius. You stinking brat, don't tell me you can't even slice that rock."
Ultimately, Anos' decision about whether to attend the academy would depend on how much he is willing to show his abilities. Since his father is not willing to take his advice into account then he can only blame himself if something happened.
"Fumu. Alright then."
Anos smiled and picked up the metal sword from the ground. He then tested the durability of the sword by carefully tapping it with his other hand.
"..."
The fragile thing would definitely shatter at the slightest use of his physical power. There is no other choice. Anos stealthily injected the paper-like sword with a bit of his Magic Power. That was necessary so that it wouldn't break easily when he use it.
Now that he thought about it, this is the first time he touched a sword in this body. He spent the last month researching and interacting with the humans around so he didn't have the time to check his physical prowess yet.
Anos swung the sword a few times, testing its weight and balance. He was surprised at how different it felt from the weapons he was used to. He had always relied on his immense magical power to defeat his enemies, but now he would have to rely mostly on his physical strength and skill with a sword.
With each swing from him, a massive current of air was generated that left a huge trace on the paved ground around him. Slightly surprising his audience.
He continued to practice, experimenting with different techniques and styles. As he did so, he felt his muscles start to burn a bit and his breathing becomes slightly labored. He realized that this new body was not as powerful as his old one, and he would have to adapt his fighting style to compensate.
He focused his energy on his next swing, channeling his magic power into the sword to increase its strength and durability even more.
With a light swing, he brought the sword down on the rock. The blade sliced through the rock with ease, shattering it into pieces. The inspector's arrogant expression turned to one of surprise and admiration.
"Well done," the inspector said, nodding his head in approval. "It seems that you are indeed worthy of attending the academy. Congratulations, Anos–"
The inspector didn't finish his words before Anos sliced again. And again. Each time increasing the speed of his swings.
"Huh?"
In a blur as he swung the sword multiple times in quick succession. The sword glowed with a red, magical light as it sliced through the air and struck the poor rock again and again.
Everyone around widened their eyes when they saw that Anos's hand had all but completely disappeared from the sheer speed of his swings and all they could hear was the sound of the huge rock being disintegrated into mere dirt.
The inspector was stunned by Anos's incredible speed and skill. He had never seen anything like it before. Anos's father and mother were also impressed. Cid had a strange smile on his face. And the maid behind him widened her eyes in shock.
"Amazing," the inspector said, his voice filled with awe. "I've never seen anyone wield a sword like that. You truly are a prodigy, Anos."
Anos stooped, feeling a sense of awareness. He has lost himself a bit trying to regain his past skills.
"Fumu" Anos said, nodding his head. "I'm looking forward to attending the academy."
With that, Anos turned and walked away, leaving the inspector and the others in awe of his skills.
As he walked away, Anos couldn't help but feel a mix of emotions. He was looking forward to the opportunity to attend the academy so he could meet his sister and learn more about this era, but he was also feeling a sense of sadness and longing for his former life.

It seems that Anos has demonstrated his impressive skills with a sword and has been accepted into the academy together with Cid. He is likely feeling a mix of emotions about this, as he is excited about the opportunity to meet his sister and possibly also the reincarnated Hero Kanon, but he also feels a sense of loss for his former era and life.
It will be interesting to see how he adapts to life at the academy and continues to learn more about the era he has been reborn into. It seems that the absence of Demons in this human world did not allow him to completely enjoy the peace that he wished for in his previous life.
It's possible that Anos may face challenges as he adjusts to life at the academy and learns to navigate the new era he has been reborn into. He may feel isolated and out of place, as he is the only one who knows about reincarnation magic and is the only Demon on the continent.
Additionally, his brother Cid's behavior may continue to be a source of confusion and frustration for him. However, Anos is a strong and capable individual, and with time and effort, he may be able to adapt and find a way to overcome his boredom in this human world.
One way that Anos could potentially overcome his boredom in this human world is by exploring and learning more about the new era he has been reborn into. This could involve attending the academy and studying subjects that interest him, as well as interacting with others and forming new relationships.
He may also want to try new hobbies or activities that 'challenge him' and keep him engaged, such as learning a new skill or taking up a sport. By actively seeking out new experiences and opportunities, Anos may be able to find ways to stay engaged and fulfilled until he regained enough power to go back to the Demon World.
