124 I am dropping this book

The title is not bait, it's true. I will not be continuing to write this story. If you want to know why and care about what I'm doing next, that'll be below, if you don't, it's fine.

The reason I'm dropping this book comes from a lot of places, but it mostly spawns from a time management issue. Writing is something I enjoy, and for the most part, I enjoyed writing this book, which is why I sacrificed so much time to write it despite the lack of money gained. But recently, I've found that writing this story has become a process that I dreaded every day and even spread to other areas of my life making everything simply less enjoyable. It wasn't worth the time anymore. I still wrote in this period, I'd say it began near the end of the Second Part while considering if I should drop it or not. And now, I've come to the decision that I should.

At first, I was resolved to end it after the end of Volume One as a tribute to everyone who has contributed to this webnovel, but recently I decided even that not worth the time. I'd rather spend my time doing something that I enjoy and that will contribute to the value I get from life than something that gives everything a shade of grey.

I think this spawns from a couple of things. One is just the stress of daily uploads sending me off a cliff. I'm pretty good at stress management, and normally it doesn't bother me, but for writing this book, it was literally if I didn't write and upload a chapter, the rest of my day was ruined. That just isn't healthy.

Then there's the fact that I made quite a few mistakes while writing this book. I think the whole mythology thing was a bad idea and shouldn't have become as big as it was, the characters (besides Quis and Spiravit) were very one-dimensional in the sense that they all had too much complexity, and I think the entire idea of the book in the first place was a mistake for who I am as a person. I grew bored writing the same ideas over and over again with a different box on the outside, which dampened my creative involvement and was a big contributor to my want to drop this novel.

These are all problems that slowly wore me out to the point where I couldn't bear it anymore. I thought the problem was burnout, but it really just was the book itself. It was not worth the time spent.

These are all problems that come from one source, the way that Webnovel works. Webnovel is a very competitive scene, and if you aren't producing at least 1500-word chapters 7 times a week, you aren't a competitor. That is the root of the problem. Webnovel as a platform values quantity over quality, and that's not how I work. I can't mass-produce some garbage system novel, smack an R-18 tag on it, and call it a day. That's not something I would be proud to say that I made even though it would make money and be "successful". Another problem with Webnovel is that you can't take back the mistakes you made, they are permanent. Of course, that wouldn't be an issue if you just planned out your novel, which I did! Until I lost it all due to my phone being destroyed in a car crash and had to go off of memory for the next 110 chapters! It was very annoying to deal with.

So that's why I'm done writing this book. However, I still plan to write as it's not just something I can drop. Eventually, I'll be drawn back into it, and I won't make the same mistakes as I did this time. But, that is impossible to do on Webnovel, so I will never be writing a book on this platform again. It simply doesn't fit my attitude of quality over quantity. Instead, I'll spend my time carefully configuring and writing a book that I can be proud to say is my own and get it officially published as a physical book. And that will be that. Basically, you probably won't be able to view my future works again, so sorry if you actually enjoyed my style of writing. I will probably make an announcement through this book, but that will be years from now, so I doubt anyone reading this will still care at all. It's just how things work, people move on.

I do want to give a thank you to everyone who helped support my book through comments, power stones, and reviews, you've all made my day at one point. But I would like to give a special thanks to a select few individuals, those being: HacarasAye, Cdn_memu, and Otis_Atis. Each of you were the reason that I kept writing for as long as I did, your comments kept me motivated, so thank you for that. I also want to say sorry for stopping this book prematurely. You three put a lot of effort into supporting my story, so I'm sure it makes you a bit bitter to see me just throw it away like this.

That's about it. Thanks for reading up to this point and I hope you all have a good time living.

See ya.
