Journey! Jura?

When Alex woke the next morning, he had a quick shower before breakfast.

He didn't know how long he would be gone for and had grown attached to his shower.

The refreshing feeling couldn't be beat, also standing under a rain cloud that dropped warm/hot water was very amusing to his modern mind.

Before leaving, he made sure he wasn't leaving any valuables laying around, he usually kept everything in his {Inventory} so this was more or less just a habit from his past life.

After locking up the big Iron door that served as the entrance to his home, he marveled at how well it blended into the mountain side.

He had created it some weeks back after a big storm had kept him up one night with constant howling wind.

It was a 1" thick steel plate created with {Mana Manipulation} fused right to the wall of the cave and covered in a layer of stone to match the outside.

Simply put, it was overkill.

'Haha I may have gotten a little carried away when I discovered how to make metal' Alex chuckled to himself as he locked up.

He had discovered he could make almost all basic elements if he knew their composition to at least a passable degree and had enough mana for it, enchanting or adding features to objects was still out of his reach though.

Pushing off the ground with Magic enhanced legs he rapidly gained altitude.

Heading almost directly west towards the Worth Woods-Sea, he didn't want to waste any time.

He also wanted to see how fast he could fly, and what the drain on his stamina would be.

Turns out, he can fly very fast in a straight line, but its also quite draining.

He can only keep max speed for about an hour.

He did find a way to cheat a little though, he had discovered a while ago that just being transformed itself was not too draining if he didn't do anything.

Sure the Full Take-over consumed a lot of power having it active, but if he just sat there doing nothing he could stay in it for a long time, maybe even a full week.

He didn't want to test that though, sounded boring as hell.

The cheat he discovered was to simply glide.

If he had a high enough altitude and a fast enough speed, he could free glide for a very long time. Long enough for him to recover some of his stamina and mana.

Not having any deadline set for himself, he kept experimenting with his flight parameters.

He would push his altitude until he started to get light headed from the thin oxygen in the air that high up.

He would even put his wings away and free fall, pretending he had just jumped out of an airplane to go sky diving, only instead of a parachute he would deploy his wings when he got too close to the ground for comfort.

During one of his dives he aimed for a flock of birds flying to the coast, they seemed to notice his presence and scattered while picking up speed.

It then turned into a game of Cat & Mouse, as he chased the agile birds through the air.

He used it as a way to test himself under stress.

He managed to catch 2 of the creatures but didn't kill them, he just gave them a scare and let them go.

After his fun with the birds was done he entered free glide again to get his energy back.

During one of his free glides he spotted a port town to the south of his location.

He decided to take a detour to restock some of his supplies. He had wanted to do it in Hargeon but that was in the opposite direction. Lowering his altitude and heading to the town, he used his enhanced eyesight to find a market.

He noticed almost right away that there was a commotion in one of the plazas, so he headed there.

"Iron Rock Fist"!

Was the only warning Alex got before a giant pillar of earth in the shape of a fist smashed him out of the air and into a wall.

"Ouch!" he said as he crawled out of the rubble.

'Guess I can officially say I know what mosquitos feel when swatted' he thought darkly.

"What the hell was that for!" he yelled at the big bald man whom was clearly the one behind the attack.

"Hmph" was his only reply before "Iron Rock Spikes" and he was pinned from all sides by earth spikes.

'What the hell is this guys problem! I didn't even do anything in this town yet!' Alex yelled internally.

'Wait a minute.. Why does his attack names sound familiar, he also looks familiar too' Alex thought frantically as the bald man approached.

'OH SHIT! Its freaking Jura! ..Why is he attacking me though, I thought he was one of the good ones?'

"Wait Jura! I'm not your enemy"! Alex called out to the man.

"As if I would believe anything a Demon would say, your kind are filled with lies and deceit" Was his reply.

"Damnit Man, I'm not an actual Demon. This is Take-Over Magic." Alex called out before Jura could attack again.

"How do you explain the clearly Demonic Aura you give off then? We could sense you coming from a mile out" He asked.

This caught Alex off guard, "I'm not entirely sure how to answer that" Alex said slowly.

He really didn't know anything about aura or how to contain it.

"It might be because I'm also a Fire Demon Slayer, Wizard. But aside from that I have no clue" he said slowly.

Not wanting to set the big man off while he was in such a disadvantageous position.

Jura actually halted his approach at that and stared at the young man before him, weighing his words against what he knew about Demons.

'He doesnt seem to be lying, and his wings are the only demonic feature, but I cannot get over this feeling of dread.

Its like my instincts are telling me he is very dangerous.' Jura thought.

'It could be a ruse, but I've never felt a Demon whose Magical reservoir feels the same as a human.

They are usually way more chaotic and unstable'.

"Suppose I believe you for now, would you be willing to come peacefully with me back to my guild hall, for some quick tests?" Jura asked after a moment of silent contemplation.

'*sigh* Damn, that was close' Alex sighed internally.

"Of course, I have nothing to hide and am certain that I am human" Alex replied quickly.

He was nowhere near ready to be trying to go up against someone the likes of Iron Rock Jura right now.

"Could you promise nobody will randomly attack me again?" Alex asked with a smirk.

"Haha so long as you are with me, nobody will attack you.

I'm pretty well known in this town after all." Jura replied, not at all looking sorry for his 'Pre-emptive' strike.

He released Alex and had him walk in front of him towards his guild hall.

He still could not get over the feeling of danger so he would not trust him easily, even if it did lessen when Alex let his transformation go.

During the walk to the Lamia Scale Guild hall, Jura and Alex had a small Q&A session.

Jura wanted to know where Alex was coming from, what he was doing in Margaret Town, How long he would be here and where he was going.

Well, it was more like an interrogation.

Being basically a prisoner Alex had no real choice but to answer.

He didn't really want to fight Jura in a town, the civilian casualties could be too high if he had to go all out, witch he would against Jura.

He also didn't have anything against the guy except for attacking him.

In hindsight that was probably his own fault.

He knew his wings clearly looked Demonic, and still didn't clue in that it could be a problem.

"I have been living in the woods for as long as I can remember in this life" Alex Started.

"I train alone and get my supplies from Hargeon when I'm in need.

I was on my way to explore the Worth Woods-Sea when I seen this port city and decided to restock my supplies.

I currently have no intentions of staying here longer than needed to resupply" Alex said all at once, Jura just listening.

"Why would you choose to live in the forest and not the comforts of Civilisation?" Jura asks after finding no lie in his words.

"Its the nature of my fire, I've never heard of or seen anything like it before as it seems to be unique to me.

It's extremely destructive and hard to control, I don't want to hurt people." Alex replied.

"Lots of Wizards use Fire magic, all fire is destructive by nature but it is yours to command. If you don't want it to hurt people you have to will it not to hurt" Jura said sagely as if a teacher.

"For normal fire yes, but this stuff is special." Alex said as he let some of the {Fel-Fire} play across his hand before it disappeared again.

'THIS FEELING!?' Jura thought with a start.

'So, it's the nature of his magic itself that gives off the feeling of danger'.

"I can see now why you would choose to live alone, that fire sends my instincts screaming and I can clearly tell My magic reserves are higher than yours" Jura said seriously.

The rest of the trip lapsed into silence that Alex was thankful for and before long they reached the guild hall.

(A/N: when I wrote these first couple chapters, I didn't realize I was using a fan made map(not on the wiki), for reference, that had all the locations messed up(According to the wiki map at least). So for those of you that care, I'm sorry. The worth-wood-sea will be in the south west for my book and not the north east. Then again, accurate locations in a world with so little information is hard, so it'll most likely be all over the damn place :P)

I always did like Jura from the anime and hope I didn't miss to far on his personality. I will admit it has been a long time since I've seen it though and I'm not even caught up. :P

Enjoy.
