9 Chapter 9

I couldn't even believe that she was the same shy and reserved demoness who had been quiet all the while.

She seemed even more active than Ivy at that moment, what a magic geek.

After the end of our session, she went back to her normal shy and reserved girl persona.

I took a mental note to be careful while teaching her.

Soon, months passed by….

Noel continued gathering children over the past few months, she would always bring two or three kids weekly.

All the kids she brought with her were desperate to survive and were willing to work to support themselves.

Although I also taught them about magic theories I had from devouring intermediate magic theory, oh well, Noel and the twins completely took over me as I was usually busy with business as well.

My workload increased every passing day as I had to feed more and more children but at the same time the help I received also increased due to the little demons helping me out.

Noel once completely told me to instead focus on business while she would look after training them instead. Dependable.

The business was not her best forte,

She seemed worried that I was overworking myself for them, but the fact was it was manageable for me, with the magic and strength I had from my mother being enough to not overwork myself.

The little demons were now mostly trained under Noel and man, she was a true demoness….

I once saw her training the young demons and she made them train until they were close to fainting, made me believe they would die for a second, making them run laps of the large open area where we used to train them, it was a barren area with nothing but debris in it and it was pretty huge and desolate, and even after doing laps, she would make them do push-ups, pull-ups, and end the day with a spar and some magic control training.

I shivered to see her cruelty but what shocked me more was Noel seemed to be enjoying torturing the young demons as they made cursing expressions, she was smiling wickedly all the time as they break their bones sparring among themselves, she seemed satisfied.

She beat the hell out of them in the spars while smiling maniacally in the name of training them.

I told her to not be too hard on the children as they would be unable to help if they exhausted themselves to death, that night after training but she refused me on the face with a very serious look on her face that made me doubt if I was wrong.

I think she said something along the lines

'I will make them less useless to milady, I will engrave loyalty in their souls and brains so that you can get proper slav- I mean subordinates.'

She quickly left saying that but I think she was trying to say something outrageous as I was about to smack her.

'What the hell…?'

That was what I said at that time.

As for the twins, they somehow became deputy leaders of sorts…? They would help me and Noel training new demons.

Ivy seemed to admire Noel a lot as she seemed to be taking after Noel's sadistic personality.

'Ahh… Noel is deviating children!'

As for Iris,

"...."

I don't know what to say about her, she helped me a lot but her crazy attitude toward magic kept increasing over the years.

She even started experimenting and creating spells on her own after just a few months!

Damn, was she a genius or I am just too dumb to not make a single spell….?

No, Iris is the weird one for sure, I remember demons learning most of the spells in schools.

Anyways, the good news is that I have made more than enough money to set up a proper shop here.

I have now over 15,000 devil coins.

And I don't need to fear the local gangs as much with so much fighting power.

They won't target us easily now.

-----------

I called Noel and told her that I was going to purchase proper land for the shop and needed her to come with me.

She and I then went to some dealers to buy a shop near the busy streets and after some negotiations, I successfully bought a small shop which cost me 7,000 devil coins.

Ugh, my heart stung considering that the shop was not that big but what could I do, he was the sanest dealer among all others.

Setting up the shop quickly, the next day we started the business officially.

More locals came to visit as they saw the shop, and the sales were pretty good for the first day as well.

If this continued, I will soon make up those 7,000 devil coins again.

Most of the time, I would be at the shop but the other demons would take up some days as well.

They were those demons who could not survive Noel's cruelty so they instead came to work in business.

Honestly, I am kind of impressed with how the remaining demons survived that training.

---------------

4 years passed

I was now 11 years old.

Over the past 4 years, many things have changed for good.

First of all, my small business has become pretty stable and now cannot be called small anymore.

Over the years, my business spread more and more around the city in various areas.

I have now extended my business to wider areas.

Such as now we not only sell biscuits but many other services.

Dairy products, liquor, Candles, incense sticks, cigars, ice cream, candies, Fruit and vegetables, smithing, and repairing work.

Most of these things are considered a luxury for people so I was able to make some profitable connections with the wealthy ones.

All these things that were a daily necessity to common folks, we tried to include.

Of course, not all of my businesses were a success but the profit I was earning was more than enough to ignore this fact.

My name got pretty popular in this dark city as a business prodigy.

Another good thing is no gangs!

Initially, we still had a fear of gangs around but our fighting force has increased exponentially as well over the course of years.

It somehow became an unspoken rule in this city among the young orphan demons that if they wish to survive and are willing to put the effort in achieving that, they can approach Noel, the great demoness, a title she got from the subordinates she trained.
