Chapter 11: Whatever

"... You're joking."

"I'm sorry sonny, but there's not much I can do for you. You'll begin the training too late, and your strength won't produce much. But If you really still want, I can go ahead and train you, although it won't bring much fruit," explained the Sergeant halfheartedly.

The conversation entered a lull, neither side knowing what to say to make the situation better.

After some painful reconsideration, Moonshine finally replied. "...No, it's fine sir. There's no need for you to waste your precious time on me. I appreciate your offer, but I think it is better if I just get out of your hair." With a slow turn, she walked off and left the Guild hall, a shell of the person who entered.

"Once again," murmured the Sarge, " I apologize. If only there was someone stronger to train you..."

"Haaaaaah..." sighed Moonshine, suddenly exhausted. "So, you're telling me that it doesn't matter who I went with, I'd still be screwed?" she mumbled to herself.

'Well, at least I won't have to deal with that Keener's sadism,' she thought, trying to raise her spirits. 'What a waste of time and hope...' It didn't work.

'Wait a second..." Suddenly, she had an epiphany.

On the steps outside of the Local Guild, she murmured her realization. "Why am I---!"

"Hey! MOVE IT!" Yelled out a player walking towards the guild.

'Huh?'

"YER BA-LOCKING THE WAY!!"

'Oh!' Moon quickly moved out of the way. As the player walked by, Moon showed an apologetic smile and rubbed the back of her head, chuckling.

"Hmph!" was the fellow newbie's response. With a snort, he entered the Guild.

"Rude ass--" she began muttering, before suddenly pausing. "--whatever."

'As I was saying,'

As she was saying.

'Why am I so disappointed by this? So what if my power doesn't increase crazily? That's not why I signed up for this. I'm here to relax after a long day at work... not to become a ranker!'

'So what if I'm late?' she continued. 'I was playing this game casually, and I'm not planning on changing my play through now. It doesn't matter if it's sooner or later: I'm gonna end up defeating those Hobgoblins.'

"Speaking of Hobgoblins," she reminded herself. "I wonder how I'm doing in my class quest?"

"Inspect."

A knight is a courageous being with no fear in their heart. They are beings proficient in all forms of combat, offensive and defensive. They live for their master. Their armor is for their master's protection, and their weapon is controlled by their master's whims. Knights do not betray their masters. Only with their master, can a knight show their true strength.

*Gain the passive 'Weapons' Mastery.'

*Gains the 2 passives 'Light Armor Mastery' and 'Heavy Armor Mastery.'

*Gain a 10% resistance to all status conditions.

**Knight class skills are unlocked.

***All stats increase to 120% if with their master.

The reason Moonshine chose the Knight class was simple.

'I think it's pretty cool to be able to use various weapons. It would be nice experiencing different attack and defense patterns.'

'And now that I think about it, that status resistance is definitely going to be helpful against strong monsters,' she reminded herself.

Finally cheering herself up, Moon got ready to move. "Let's go grab some stuff, and then I can go beat on some Hobgoblins!"

After paying 80 gold for the repairs of her equipment, Moon walked towards the Market.

The Market was the only place that wasn't so mediocre in the town of Zand. Every shop, official or street vendor, tried their best to make their shop look appealing. This area was easily the most populated, and that's why it had its own street.

People were walking around everywhere. Clerks would be seen outside, handing out posters full of offers and sales, and street vendors would be seen having to haggle with adventurers. Potions and herbs were laid on tarps everywhere, yelling at anybody that passed by, and a couple of soldiers were patrolling up and down the street. Although it was rowdy, it was Moon's favorite part of the town. Sure, she didn't like talking to strangers much, but she liked the noise and social atmosphere. When she first came to the town, she even thought that she would actually make a friend soon.

*snort* 'Yeah, right,' she thought with a slight grin.

Moon was here for two reasons: HP potions and MP potions. Especially MP potions. With her stat distribution, she would use two skills and have to drink a MP potion. Luckily for her, there were many places that sold these potions; and more! She didn't have money for THOSE, though.

After awkwardly asking around, she found out where she could find the best deals on potions. Today it was in an official shop. Yesterday, it was at a street vendor. The prices for such consumables rose and fell constantly, so you can't just go to the same place everyday; unless, you want to lose money. She learned this from the Satisfy's beginner's tips book that came with her capsule. Contrary to mosts' choices, she actually read the book. It's also the place where she learned about illegal PKing.

Today, she arrived at a shop named 'Ronathon's Medicine.'

"Welcome!" greeted the man presumed to be Ronathon. The moment Moon opened the door, a man with black, matted hair who seemed to be in his mid-thirties rushed to meet her. Contrary to his half-closed eyes, he seemed to be quite energetic. "What are you looking for?" asked the man with skin the same color as the sand outside.

"I'm looking for some Health and Mana potions," Moon quickly replied.

"Ooh! Lucky for you, we just got a new shipment! Please, come take a look at our merchandise," said Ronathon with a smile, as he led Moon towards the green and blue.

"Please, choose the number and quality of potions you want," he instructed.

"Alright."

After choosing everything, Moon and Ronathon walked over to the transaction station.

"So, that's 4 Elementary health potions for 40 gold, 2 Intermediate health potions for 60 gold, and 8 Elementary Mana potions for 96 gold. In total, that will be 196 gold," confirmed Ronathon with a pleased smile.

'Damn,' cursed Moon. 'I haven't exchanged the materials from yesterday for gold,' she just realized. 'Please tell me I have enough money!'

"Yes!" she yelled with a fist pump.
