1 Chapter 1: Scum of the slums
The Empire of Raleigh!
It was a successful and prosperous empire that was filled with not only humans but demons, Elves, sprites, and beastmen.
It was supposed to remain the peaceful lands that were ruled by all seven gods, but everything changed in a heartbeat.
The Temple no longer sensed the presence of the gods. The rivers, which were always clean, suddenly got polluted and were drying up at a fast rate.
Demons were going berserk and destroying anyone and anything in sight. This led to them being driven out of the lands and back to the demon world.
Elves retreated to the forest and sought protection from the spirits but even the spirits were dying.
The rich oppressed the poor and flaunted their wealth while the needy suffered from hunger.
Human trafficking went rampant. Corruption increased and so did taxes!
This happened over a century ago and people still wonder, was the world forsaken by the gods?
Hardship for the poor and commoners, worsened by the day and the slums gradually populated into what it was.
Among those in the slums was Justin, the scum of the slums. He was an orphan who was raised in the slums.
Why was he called the scum of the slums? It's simple! He was a total scum in the sight of not only the nobles but the people at large!
At present!
The skies suddenly darkened in a dark shade of purple and it filled the lands.
Justin, the scum of the slums, was resting on a dead tree bark in the forest after escaping his normal day's pursuit of the city guards.
He, who rested on the tree bark with his eyes closed, furrowed his eyebrows to the dark surroundings he felt through his eyelids and spat out the weed in his mouth.
"What now?" He asked and opened his eyes. Seeing the unusually dark skies, he sat up and scoffed.
With a sleazy look and twisted expression, he remarked sarcastically, "Is it the end of the world already?" He rested back on the tree bark and closed his eyes. "It's about time to end this shitty life anyway!"
Everywhere suddenly became quiet but just then, he heard a voice.
(System Loading…!)
His eyes shot open and he glanced around but there was no one. Was he hearing things?
He was just about to close his eyes again when he heard the voice a second time.
(User connected!)
He immediately sat up and searched his surroundings carefully with his eyes. He was deep in the woods. There was no way those guards would have followed him all the way. Unless…
"Who's out there?" He demanded but silence followed. "I know it's you bastards! Come out so we can have a real fight! I'm not afraid of your little tricks!" Once again, there was silence.
Was he really hearing things?
He gave a suspicious glance at the forest before returning to his rest but the voice came up again.
(System will begin the user's scan in 5, 4, 3, 2…)
This voice enraged Justin. He wasn't able to see who it was and it was saying things that he couldn't understand.
"Dammit! If I get my hands on… "
(Ding! Scan completed!)
Still confused, Justin watched as a blue screen appeared before him with his name boldly encrypted on the top and below it were his information.
"What in the… ?"

Justin's right eye twitched. What the hell was he looking at?
"Is this some sort of joke?" He gnarled in frustration. "Those magic users must be messing with me!" He turned to the forest. Where were they? "Hey, you bastards! Get out and face me like a normal person would!" He yelled out but there was no response.
The silence made him believe he was alone. He tsked and turned to the system window.
"I don't have time to play some childish games with those silly magic users!" He said and stormed off but the window remained in front of him. "Argh! This piece of shit, get out of my way!" He cursed and triggered the system's warning.
(Warning! User abuse on the system will trigger the system's punishment!)
He heard this and paused.
"Are you messing with me right now? What punishment? You're just a crappy trick! Yeah, I said it! Even your voice sounds like crap, whatcha gonna do about it?" He provoked and successfully triggered the punishment.
(System punishment triggered!)
All of a sudden, the earth beneath his feet started shaking.
"What the… ?"
(Ding! Beast raid, activated. User must try his best to survive the beast raid for the next one hour!)
A timer opened up in the window.
(Start!)
The timer started counting down and the beast were getting closer.
"Shit!" Justin saw the large amount of magic beasts approaching from the distance and took to his heels.
Thanks to the distance he had with the beasts, he was able to run ahead and climb a tree but it was as though the beasts were directly after him.
They headed in his direction and targeted the tree.
The dark purple sky made movement a whole lot difficult and he had to leap from one tree to another with caution.
"How much longer will this go on?" He asked and looked at the timer. There were still fifty minutes left. "Argh! Why am I so unlucky today?"
In the entire forest, he was the only one in it and he kept running from one place to another, avoiding the magic beasts, both big and small, from crushing him and turning his carcass into barbecue.
"I'm so tired!" He panted and checked the timer once more. There were still thirty-five minutes left. "This thing just wants me to run, right?" He straightened his back and looked at the beasts chasing him from behind. "I don't believe those beasts will follow me to the capital!"
With that, he ran.
