1 Artemis' Nymph

Goddess Artemis has currently sixty Nymphs, including me. Actually, Nymphs has the freedom to choose which god or goddess they want to serve with and if you say serve, it means you will serve that god for entire of your life. Moreover, goddess Artemis has only two rules for her companions, first, you need to be loyal like her and second rule, we're not allowed to get married nor fall in love with anyone.

I could still remember the day when they announced that god Zeus were looking for companions for his favorite child but only thirty of us were willing to serve her, so god Zeus got no choice but to force the other thirty Nymphs for the sake of her favorite child's wish.

Goddess Artemis got only two rules but that was the hardest to follow for others, well, not for me. Her two rules might be the reason why half of us only are willing to serve her because Nymphs has a feelings too.

Why I did not hesitate to join to goddess Artemis companions? It's because her two rules are so easy for me considering I have no longer interest for any romantic relationship anymore and I've got no family either, so I've decided to be part of her companions knowing goddess Artemis is such one of a kind, loyal to everything, and independent.

I just can see myself to goddess Artemis.

I also joined as one of her companion since I wanna protect the living thing that humans failed to protect and take care of, that's my reasons.

"Xanthe? What are you doing here?" someone suddenly approaches me behind my back so I faced her and it's Creusa, showing how happy she is seeing me here where she assigned.

Creusa is assigned as one of the Nymphs of Hydriads, what is Hydriads? It's a water. "Nothing, I was just wandering until I went here to your assigned place" I answered.

There's actually different kind of Nymphs, like, Meliads who are assigned from protecting the ash trees, Oceanids who are assigned to protect the sea, Dryads who are assigned from protecting our forests and that includes me, Napaea who are assigned to protect the valleys, and many more types of Nymphs ahead.

Some that I mentioned of Nymphs are under of power of goddess Artemis but many of them are not since goddess Artemis is only goddess of wild animals, hunt, vegetation, goddess of moon, and everything that connects to the forest is her property.

Like I've mentioned, goddess Artemis is one of a kind but I can say that you wouldn't want to witness the different side of her, that's why some of her companions are scared to her because she already showed what will happen if one of us doesn't follow her two rules, the punishment if you didn't follow her rules? Death, simply as that.

Though I'm not scared of her at all, I just know how to follow what she wants and what she says.

If some of you wondering how she kill her own huntress companions, you will just stand behind the tree and wait for goddess Artemis' arrows to pierce unto your chest. She doesn't want to do that either but rules are rules, actually, that kind of punishment were made by her father.

Not to mention that her bows and arrows are made by the Cyclopes, it can gives you the quick death.

"I'll go ahead then!" Creusa said, she was supposed to go but she suddenly stopped "go back to your place now Xanthe, it's dangerous if mortals come to your forest without you knowing again" she added.

I just nodded to her and she made her way to wander as Hydriads.

As Creusa mentioned, there was a time that I didn't pay attention to my duty and mortals attempted to cut the tree into two without me knowing, so when I feel there's someone who touches my assigned things, I ran as fast as I could until I used my bow and pierce my arrow in front of them as a sign and warning that the tree is already owned by the goddess.

I stopped them that time.

What we're usually do to stop them isn't using our bow and arrow but hypnotizing them through whispering to their ears instead.

Nymphs has their power to become a wind sometimes, run very quick like a dog and stay still in the air but Nymphs can also die in natural forces and disaster, that's the only similarity we have in humans knowing Nymphs can also live much longer than mortals.
