Adan's fangs

On the ceiling of a dark room, Nathan rested with his eyes closed while he listened to the screams and grunts of humans and calamities in the distance.

After he had fallen into the military zone, he had followed the old man to his base... although more than a base it looked like a fort in the middle of a war, since there was not a day that went by without a calamity attack.

Nathan was surprised by the number of people in the fort... he thought that most of them had died, but it turned out that there were almost fifty people who were surviving day after day.

He, for his part, did not participate in the defense once since arriving at the so-called fort. He took over one of the free rooms that had been temporarily built and spent his days in silence while he supplied Amelia with essence.

It was not wrong to say that Nathan was now a parasite who lived off the efforts of others. But he didn't mind the hateful looks he got when he left his room to eat.

Not only was he still recovering from his injuries from the fall, but he also had no intention of putting his life at risk to face the much stronger calamities he faced in the residential area.

Having finished feeding Amelia, Nathan sighed and stretched out his arms, forming a star with his body.

Amelia sighed and spoke sleepily.

'Thank you for the food'

Nathan just groaned in assent.

'This is your plan?' Amelia asked not understanding why Nathan had been so calm since they had arrived.

'Well, I realized that no matter how many calamities I kill or how hard I try to survive, there's still no way I can help complete this realm... there are things that are simply off limits to me'

Amelia remained silent, then Nathan bent his arm and took the necklace that hung around his neck.

'Though I never thought I would find such a relic...' Nathan looked at the necklace and smiled slightly.

'Though you haven't worn it yet'

Nathan smiled and flowed essence to the necklace, then the two helixes extended and separated from the base of the necklace, forming two knives, one black and one white in his hands.

The knives were quite primitive, more like the teeth of a large beast than a knife. Still, Nathan felt really comfortable with the weapons he had obtained, not only could he shrink them and wear them in the form of a necklace, but their abilities really suited him.

Each knife had its own unique property, the black one empowered his technique while the white one could free the target from his technique.

In short, Nathan could more effectively inflict his fear on others and free others from his fear.

He didn't see a use for the white knife at all... but the black one simply had enough compatibility with him.

But since he had gotten them, he hadn't used them yet, so he didn't know how effective they were.

'Adan's fangs?' Amelia asked, trying to remember the name of the pair of knives.

Nathan nodded.

'That's right...'

Flowing essence to a relic, one could see most of its information such as name and its effects... though it was more knowing it instinctively than seeing it as such. Still, this had many limitations.

Depending on the power of the relic, someone was either able to understand the relic itself and its name or not.

He could understand Adan's fangs and the great sword well enough, but the function of the mask that Boreas had given him remained a great mystery.

Nathan had decided to create a provisional power list for the relics. From useless to mysterious.

The various weapons he had gotten from the mercenaries he had killed some time ago were useless relics, the greatsword stood a little higher than those but it didn't make that much difference.

Adam's knives were several levels higher, mainly because of their compatibility, while the mask was on the level of mysterious.

Nathan remembered the other relics in his possession.

The book he had gotten in the first realm he had gone to, which was a translator of the unknown language within the realms, though he had not used it since that time in the boy's room many years ago.

He also had the flute he had taken as a reward for killing the flautist in the swamp. Although he got it when he could not yet feel its essence, so he had not studied it, and when he knew how to use its essence, he simply forgot about its existence.

Still lying down, Nathan brandished the black knife in the air and smiled slightly.

'Ah... I can't wait to use them'

Amelia was confused by his words.

'Then why don't you test them on the dozens of calamities out there?'

Nathan heard the wild growls of the calamities still attacking the fort but shook his head.

'No... I've got them booked'

A smile appeared on his face as he looked down at his burned arm.

'I just have to wait... they'll come by themselves'

Amelia kept quiet and said nothing remembering Nathan's state after escaping that day. Then she simply let him play with Adan's fangs and closed her consciousness before falling asleep.
