1 The Death Games

I look down at the stars, they are quite beautiful as they sparkle and shine. There are bigger ones and smaller ones, I try making shapes with the patterns I see in the sky. I have no idea what is happening, my mind is completely frazzled and the last thing I was doing was... I can't seem to remember what I was doing last. Really... I can't seem to remember much. What was I just doing now? Before stars.

Looking down at the stars I was getting bored of the same patterns, so I looked up and what I saw was no star, but the ground and a roof of some type of building quickly approaching me. My eyes widened and my vision turned black.

"Huff! Huff! Huff!" I jump up, huffing and puffing from my previous traumatic experience. Starting in front of me I find myself resting in a bed, I see some peaks in front of me which I gather to be my feet. From my limited memory and experience, I could tell that my feet should be at the end of the bed but instead, they are only about halfway down the bed. Before I could inquire more about my surroundings a sharp almost piercing sensation went through my brain and before I knew it I was Unconscious.

I woke back up for the second time in a black void with nothing in it but me. Suddenly a human figure appeared in the endless void around where I found myself in, they looked as shook as I am. Taking a closer look at the human figure, I saw he had a butler suit on, his hair was a messy black, his ears pointy, and his body was very slender, elf seemed to pop into my mind when looking at him. After shaking off his trance, his eyes darted to me, rage visible in his eyes.

"You piece of shit! You think you can take me away from my family! I WILL FUCKING KILL YOU!" While saying this he rushed at me at speeds I didn't know possible for a human, I caught a glimpse of two fingers quickly approaching my eyes, getting ready to gouge them. I closed my eyes and stood frozen in place. *Boom*

The pain that I was expecting didn't come but instead was an imploding boom that sounded right in front of me. Opening my eyes I saw the elf flying through the air for about 20 ft until stumbling and rolling on the ground.

"AAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH" A blood-curdling shriek resounded out of the mouth of the elf as he clutched his head and dug his fingers into his skull. I rush over there quickly to try and help him but quickly realize that I'm not going as fast as I thought I would be going. looking down I see the small legs of a child sprinting to the fallen elf. I knew this was wrong, they are supposed to be bigger but I quickly put that thought to the back of my mind, it can be dealt with later, the elf cannot wait.

The reason I am helping this elf is so he might not want to kill me due to me helping him, it's not like I can run or hide anywhere in this void, and I don't want to risk killing him or what's happening to him might happen to me. The screeching of the elf continued as skin blood and hair flew out of his head due to his scratching.

"H-hey a-a-are you o-ok… I t-think you n-need to stop scratching" I was still shaken up from the subsequent trauma I had just endured previously. Suddenly, the movement of the elf stopped, and his head was repairing itself through magical means, his full head of hair was restored from the once bloody mess. His eyes shot open as he slowly got up, adjusted his suit, and stared at me.

"Hello new Death Game Master or DGM for short, I will be your guide from now on, now, please take a rest and regain your bearings, it's safe here so please take this time to calm down, once you are settled I will give you the introduction to "The Death Games" and answer all your questions".  The voice had fake emotion Hearing that I fell to the nonexistent void floor and tried to follow the advice of my new guide.

'Ok, so I fell from the sky to some building, then woke up in this body, just to go unconscious again, then ending up here in my sleep? This is all so very confusing, what do I remember, only bits and pieces of my life do I remember, but my name is not one of those things, I don't remember how I got into the sky, but it seems I'm still alive.'

I take a look at myself, or my body, and see that it is that of a child, not of what I remember my body being. I had pale skin with a slight tan, I was currently wearing blue pajamas, and I couldn't see my face. Taking a deep breath in and out over and over to calm myself, I finally find myself ready for the introduction. "I would like the Introduction now, and I'm sorry about your family. You must love them very much, I would never take you or anyone away from such a thing". I say.

"Well it looks like we are ready for the introduction, please pay attention and be comfortable… Welcome new DGM to "The Death Games" Where Unwilling participants such as yourself entertain the Gods at the Death Game Colosseum or DGC for short, through the means of death games!" There was no response to the family comment I made, just fake emotion and introduction.

"Now you might be asking 'What is a death game?' Well, a death game is where one of our many DGM is put into a scenario where they will have to survive/escape while being given secret side missions for them to complete for Game Points or GP for short, which can be spent in the shop to give them a slight advantage in the next death game they face." Fake enthusiasm was evident on the now controlled elf.

"DGM's come from various souls that have died in the multiverse and are given a second chance at life in The Death Games, so that weird experience that you just had earlier was your soul making its way to its new body, and the memory of the soul that was just inhabiting your body should be coming in right about now." He pointed his finger at me as memories I didn't have before started playing in my mind.

The memories that played were that of the body I now inhabit, it was him living his life in an orphanage, one called "Happy Village". Every day I would wake up, eat, take a test with the other children where I would get a 230, and finally go outside to play for the rest of the day. Once every 2 months one of the orphans gets adopted and gets to go to the outside world, I remember wanting to be a painter and I also wanted to get adopted…

At some point, it stopped being "he experienced" and turned to "I experienced" the old me and the soul of this new body merged and became one, though the old soul was the more prominent of the two.

"It seems you have remembered, so unless you have any questions, I will be sending you towards your first death game," He said this time in a more robotic tone. "Yes, I do have some questions. Is it possible to escape "The Death Games" or am I just going to be entertainment for these Gods until I die," I ask in a respectable tone.

"Yes, it is possible, you'll have to work for it though, it is only possible to escape by gaining a total of 1,000,000 Entertainment Points or EP for short. You gain EP by impressing one of the many Gods at the DGC in one of your death games, where they will award you some EP, applauding you for your effort. When you gain the 1,000,000 EP required to escape you will be able to join the DGC with the rest of the Gods". The Guide said.

"Does that mean that I will become a God?" I inquire expectantly. "Oh no, you will only be allowed to retire from the death games, nothing more than a place to live in the Colosseum, but you will be free". He said. "Ok, how many gods are in the DGC?" I ask. "There are currently a total of 1 Gods in the DGC, there are many Gods to give you EP". He said cluelessly.

I was shocked at the number 1, you would expect there to be hundreds, maybe thousands, heck millions of gods but no, only 1 to give me EP to escape The Death Games. "How many DGM were successful in getting 1,000,000 EP?" I say as my voice gets panicked.

"A total of 16,833,670,901 DGM's have been successful in obtaining 1,000,000 EP" I was relieved, maybe the DGM's overthrew the gods and left one just so they can save people like me. "How many DGM are left at the DGC?" I ask and realize I'm getting this acronym thing down. "There are currently 0 DGM's at the-" He was cut off by my yelling "What!?".

"Sir I said that there are currently 0 DGM's at the DGC," He said, keeping his robot tone. "How long have The Death Games been going on and who runs it?" I yelled at my new guide, who has turned from an elf to what he is now, a controlled puppet. "I'm sorry sir, but our time is up, you will be entering your first death game shortly, your goal is to escape the death game, the scenario is called "The Promised Neverland". Good luck, Gregory...
