Chapter 32: Spending points

Lin Fan didn't stay in bed any longer after this call.

He immediately got up and got dressed before heading into the kitchen.

The first thing he had to do was take care of his hunger problem since he wouldn't be able to do anything if he was hungry.

What met him was Murong Yue in an apron, walking around the kitchen with a knife in her hand.

When he saw the knife, the first thing he did was flinch since the knife brought up bad memories, but then he asked, "What are you doing?"

Murong Yue turned her head when she heard this voice and seeing Lin Fan standing at the entrance to the kitchen, she said in a confused voice, "I'm cooking? What else would I be doing here?"

Lin Fan just gave a dumb nod before asking, "What are you cooking?"

Murong Yue just shook her head with a smile before saying, "Go to the dining room, I'm almost done here. Look forward to a big surprise."

Lin Fan looked at the closed pot for a bit, but he still chose to sit back down in the dining room.

It didn't take long for Murong Yue to come out with the dishes.

Now normally, this was where one expected the dishes to be bad, but it was the exact opposite.

Perhaps if it had been a year ago when Murong Yue first started visiting Lin Fan, this would have happened, but she slowly learned how to cook over the year.

The dishes that she had made were all of Lin Fan's favourites, but Lin Fan really wasn't in the mood to enjoy them. He just quickly stuffed the food in his face before standing up.

During this time, Murong Yue had been staring at Lin Fan's face like something was strange and she only came back to her senses when he stood up. She quickly asked, "Where are you going?"

Lin Fan quickly said, "I'm going out for some business, I'll be back soon."

Murong Yue said, "Oh." And then she suddenly asked, "Have you been doing something with your skin?"

Lin Fan was almost about to head out when he heard this and he turned back to ask, "No, what do you mean by that?"

Murong Yue paused for a second before saying, "Well, your skin looks better compared to before. It just looks like it's much smoother and whiter compared to before. Did you start using a new skin treatment?"

Lin Fan was confused to hear this, but he also quickly went into the bathroom. He had been in too much of a rush in the morning to notice, but now that he looked carefully, it did seem like his skin was much better. Most of the acne that had been there had already cleared up and there weren't any of the acne scars left on his face.

If he had to describe himself, he would say that he looked a bit above average.

But as for why he looked like this, Lin Fan was just as confused as Murong Yue.

Though after thinking about it, he felt like he had come to the answer.

It was all the system in the end.

If he had to guess what it was, it should be the delayed effects of the points he put into his charm stat.

When he put it in yesterday, he had doubted whether it had been effective or not, but seeing how he looked today, he knew that it had been effective. It almost made it seem like he had gotten plastic surgery or some kind of skin transplant.

When Lin Fan came back to the dining room, he didn't forget to ask, "Do I look good?" As he said this, he put his chin and made a check mark with his hand, trying to look cool.

When she saw this, Murong Yue couldn't help breaking out in laughter since it really was too silly. However, she was also relieved since it seemed like Lin Fan was slowly recovering from what he had suffered and was slowly going back to normal.

Lin Fan on the other hand felt excited.

If just ten points had such a clear effect, what would be the effect of raising his stats to one hundred? Would he be able to reach what was considered the peak of humanity and be at the level of professional athletes?

Then where would he go beyond that?

He might not have an idea if this was before, but after finishing the E rank quest and opening up the shop, he was certain that there would be something in there for him. He had actually looked into the shop last and using real money, there were all kinds of things that he could buy. Things even like science fiction items like star sabers and such…

Though to buy them was a completely different story.

Most of these special items were locked and the price was far beyond what he could afford. It was far beyond what any normal person could afford with their entire life savings. It was something that only the rich could afford to buy.

But it was a good thing that he was now the boss of two gangs that controlled the third ring. They would definitely have some assets that he could play with…

So Lin Fan didn't wait any longer and headed out.

He went to the same cafe as before and began experimenting with the new functions of the system.

The first thing he did was max out all his stats, bringing them all up to one hundred points since he had more than enough points to max these out.

Then he began testing them out.

He looked into the mirror in the bathroom at the cafe and found that there was nothing that changed with him, but this was to be expected since it took a day for him to notice the changes last time.

But when he came back to his table, he tried lifting the table again and found that he could easily do it with only a few fingers. This was something that was at the level of professional bodybuilders!

Gripping his fist, Lin Fan could feel the strength that was filling him. If he wanted to, he would even be able to punch a hole in the wall, but there was no reason for him to do that to this poor cafe.

While he was thinking, Lin Fan also realized that he was thinking of various other things that he hadn't been thinking of before and that he was able to concentrate on multiple things at the same time.

The increase in strength and intelligence really made a big difference unlike the charm, but he would have to see what it would be like tomorrow.

After playing around with these points, he also looked out the window at the various people walking around outside and opening up their status windows.

Compared to last time, there was much more information that was revealed to him. It now even included small things like hobbies, education, or other things like that.

It seemed like the powers of the status window would also increase as he finished more quests, but that was also strange. Why would the system's functions increase with each higher rank quest that he finished? Was there a deeper meaning behind these higher rank quests?

Still, since the system was staying silent, there was nothing that Lin Fan could do.

The final things that Lin Fan had to look at were the lucky draw and the store that had opened up.

His reward from completing the mission was a lucky draw chance, but before using it, he wanted to look through the store.

But the one problem when he looked through the store was that he didn't have any money at all.

Lin Fan said in his mind, "System, how do I even put money into this thing?"

The system didn't say a thing, but there was a flash of light that came from the window in front of him. When Lin Fan turned to where the flash of light came from, he saw that there was a deposit square.

Lin Fan was confused at first, but then he suddenly had an idea.

Making sure that no one was looking, he took out a hundred dollar bill from his wallet and brought it up to the deposit square. If anyone was looking at him, they would have thought that he was dumb for holding up a hundred dollar bill in the air.

But the moment the hundred dollar bill touched the deposit square, it suddenly disappeared from midair.

Lin Fan didn't even know what had happened, but when he looked at the store, it showed that he now had one hundred dollars in credit to spend.

It seemed like he had to use real money to buy things from this store…

It would have been bad if this was before, but it's a good thing that he had some money to use right now.

It was also too bad that nothing was cheap in the store.

Well, it wasn't that there was nothing, it was just that everything useful cost way too much.

For example, there was a packet that he could buy that would allow his stats to break through the limits of humans. It would increase the upper limits of his stats by another fifty points. It was too bad that it cost ten thousand dollars for a packet for each stat and Lin Fan definitely didn't have the money for that right now.

So after figuring out how the store worked, Lin Fan turned his attention to the lucky draw.

When he saw the items that were available in the lucky draw, Lin Fan was stunned.
