2 Power

"Yes, mistress." After those words the pressure vanished, and I could finally breath a sight of relief.

"Now that the deal is sealed, first things first, let's fix that look." While saying that she snapped her fingers and suddenly I was dressed in a blue jacket embroidered in gold, a black vest underneath it and a pair of blue trousers. An exquisite look for sure that gave off the feeling of nobility, dignity and power, quite befitting of someone representing Death I guess.

I found it quite interesting that alongside my garments a small golden pocket watch materialized in my hand. When I opened it I could see that instead of the normal arabic numbers there were roman ones.

"This is the visual representation of your authority, don't think too much about it now, you'll understand what I mean in time, for now imagine it around your neck."

When I did as Death instructed, I felt the watch vanishing from my hand and appearing around my neck.

"Quite convenient." I said with a small smile.

"We're not done yet, I'll give you the knowledge of the first couple of spells that you'll for sure need in the future, be careful not to fain."

The moment she finished those words she snapped her fingers again and a very intense pain assaulted my head. It lasted for only a couple of seconds but it for sure was an intense one.

"Oh? nice one again, you've managed to receive it quite well, I guess your compatibility with me is pretty good huh." She said that with her usual small smile.

Suddenly I found myself knowing about 3 spells, a weird sensation for sure, like I knew them all my life but just...never used them.

The first one is called 'eyes', apparently as I understood it, when activated it allows me to see the person's life force and magic force at the current time.

The second one, 'gate', allows me to open a door to the underworld, this is similar to what Death explained to me. Basically I can open a spiritual door to the underworld, visible only to spiritual beings and every soul that dies in a certain range will be attracted to it. The moment it passes through the door, a certain amount of that soul's strength will be converted into so called mana for me as a payment for the passage.

The third spell was a little bit more interesting, judging by the description given to me by Death, it seems like I can summon a reaper that can kill anything I wish, as long as the target has less mana than me. Honestly it sounds strong but I need to test things through, I cant make my judgement based on vague descriptions.

"You can try 'gate' and 'scythe' here if you want, but don't use 'eyes' unless you want your soul disappearing." Said Death with a smile on her face.

Shivers passed through my spine, I mean it's understandable that literal Death probably has a lot of magic and life force but it's still crazy that only looking and it might annihilate my soul...damnit.

"Then excuse my rudeness, 'gate'." Yeah I decided to test the remaining 2 spells, not gonna study them in detail now but I must at least get an idea of what to expect when using them.

The moment I uttered the spell name though, I heard a ticking sound, immediately I thought of my pocket watch. I imagined it in my right hand and it actually appeared there. I thought of it on a whim but to think it actually happened. When I opened it the arrow was pointing to the number 2.

I sent Death a questioning look, but all I received was silence and her usual small smile. Alright guess she doesn't want to elaborate on that, cool.

The 'gate' itself wasn't that much of a deal, just a big, closed door behind me, if anything the only notable thing was that it was really big, and had some intricate designs carved on it.

"'Scythe'" I proceeded with the second spell. And again I heard the ticking, this time the arrow pointed towards the number 3. The spell looked really impressive though, a big, hooded skeleton manifested behind me with a big scythe in his hands. I found out that he can't detach himself from behind me, so it would be impossible to send him away on solo missions, so the only use for him would be as my "weapon" and bodyguard I guess. Judging by the description of the spell, anything that touches the scythe and has less mana than me will die but I'll have to test things through later.

"Are you finished with your small testing?" Death questioned after a couple minutes passed while I was testing the 'scythe'.

"Yes, thank you very much for offering me the possibility to test some things right here." I answered trying to sound as polite as possible.

"Now that you're done with your little games, let me explain something to you." Her face turned serious as she said those words.

"The world you're gonna be sent to is called Esteria. You're gonna arrive somewhere in the human kingdom, all the details you're gonna have to find on your own. All I want from you is to become stronger, I don't really care how you're gonna do it but keep one thing in mind, the heroes have to survive, and the demons have to be stopped from destroying humanity."

Stopped doesn't mean killed or destroyed, so in other words make sure the heroes don't die but also make sure they're not too strong to destroy the demons. So I assume that I'll have to keep some resemblance of balance between the parties while also slowly growing my own strength.

"In time you'll have access to more 'privileges' as my representative, information about those you'll receive when the time is right just as you've received information about the 3 spells, and anticipating your question, the pain isn't gonna be as strong as the first time, you'll get used to it, eventually." The last part was said with the usual smile that I've seen many times during our conversation.

"Let me give you a piece of advice, take your time, live, grow stronger, but remember, you'll have powers and privileges but even with those...you are not me...there are things you can...and also things you cannot do, understood?" While saying that, her gaze pierced me, those eyes were very serious, she didn't release her aura or anything but even like that I felt overwhelmed by the sheer power behind those words.

"I will always keep those words in my mind, mistress." I said that with a small bow.

"Good." In an instant she was back to her usual expression, with her usual small smile.

"Then I think we're done, I'll keep an eye on you, if you'd want to meet me at any time, just pray to me and your soul will be summoned here. I wish you a good and interesting journey, my emissary."

"Thank you, mistress." When I finished those words I heard a snap, and then I felt like I was being swallowed by darkness, same cold darkness that I felt before getting here, honestly it wasn't the best feeling but I was exited for what would follow, a new world, a new beginning, and a new me.

Honestly I am thankful for the second chance that I was given, but also I should never forget that it was a deal, I'll have to keep my end of the bargain and at some point I'll have to fulfill Death's wish, honestly it's a little bit scary to think that someone as powerful as Death would need my help. I wonder what is that wish she talked about...hah guess I'll have to wait and see...for now though....

"Let's have some fun."
