Marcus Grey

The man clenched his jaw, those words caused his eyes to burn into the flames of fury.

"Blake and entire royal family are rotten, I WILL KILL THEM ALL!"

*CRACK!*

A whip cracked out, followed by man's scream and desperate laugh.

"Aaahh! Ha! Ha!" the man laughed. "Is that all you got?"

"So eager to die," the guard shorted and said. "Unfortunately, Lord Blake asked us to give you special treatment."

the man kept staring at guard with bitter hatred, it was obvious that he wanted to kill this guard.

The guard glanced at the chained wounded man. "Why so serious? Tomorrow then—According to our daily routine," he turned around and left the cell.

Leon was listening to the conversation, after all, the drama was happening in the next cell. Even if wanted to ignore, those cursing and laughing voices made it impossible.

After the guard left, he went to the corner and sat down while leaning against the wall. This thick wall separated two cells, blocking people of each side from seeing each other. But fortunately, it could not block the sound and allowed people of each side to communicate.

Leon could still hear slow cursing voice, filled with deep hatred and remorse. He could feel the anger and sadness of this man, and it somehow triggered his emotions too. He wanted to talk to this man but didn't know what to say.

He thought for a while, then decided to say a few words of introduction. "Ahem! Hello there friend," he said.

Cursing sounds stopped, but no response came back. He wasn't sure whether this man did not want to talk or he simply didn't have enough strength to talk.

Leon hesitated for a while, then decided to give one more try again. "I am Leon. Friend! What's your good name?" he asked.

Silence again,

Apparently, the person behind the wall didn't want to talk. He was cursing constantly back then, though it was slow, voice definitely was there. But now, there was not a single word, even after calling twice.

Leon wasn't offended, he knew, sometimes people want to be left alone, especially those who are going through emotions such as anger or rage. He didn't push again, though he wasn't an expert in judging emotions, he knew, this person would talk eventually.

His predictions were correct. It didn't take long, and after a few minutes of silence, a voice came out.

"I am Marcus Grey," the man said, his voice was slow and shaky. "Why are you here?"

"I don't know exactly," Leon sighed. "Apparently, a friend of mine stole from some lord Kesler. I don't know anything about this Kesler, but he seems very influential person as even guards leader seems to be respectful when he talks about him."

"Sigh!" Marcus sighed and said. "Another unfortunate one! Royal family getting overboard these days."

"What? Royal family?" Leon was surprised. "This Lord Kesler belongs to the royal family?"

He thought this Lord Kesler to be the person of some noble family, however, he didn't expect him to be from royal family.

'This complicate things.'

"Your fate is sealed," Marcus said with a stern tone. "Royal family is really cutthroat, they would never let the person go, regardless he is innocent or not."

Leon had a disapproving expression on his face. He didn't fear the royal family, and if he wanted to run away, no one could block. He had to just change into another person, and no one will recognize him.

However, the problem was getting out of here without alarming anyone. He could break these walls and run away straight to the exit, but that would cause a lot of noise. Another option was to wait here and find the opportunity. When guard arrives, he could kill him and run away using guard's identity.

"So what's your story?" Leon asked. Marcus hadn't told him a single thing about himself. "You don't seem criminal to me."

"Criminal huh!" Marcus said, his voice had a hint of anger and sadness. "Very far from that. In fact, I am–no–I was noble."

Those last words peaked Leon's interest, 'how a noble fell into this situation?' The royal family was above all, but they still treated a noble little better than common folks.

"Surprised?" Marcus said with ridicule. "Once the royal family has eyes on you, regardless of noble or humble, you will end up like me."

"So how did you offend royal family?" Leon carefree asked. "Surely, a noble like you wouldn't casually make trouble with royal family."

"Offend?" Marcus's eyes turned furious. "I didn't offend anyone, in fact, they came themselves and destroyed my family and put me here, just because of ego and false pride."

Leon knew that people with power had a really big ego because he also faced the same situation in the sect. And even now these people were haunting him like a ghost.

Marcus didn't wish to talk anymore, so he asked Leon about himself. Leon told him some basic stuff about himself, but he kept most of the secrets from him. He in return also asked Marcus about some basic stuff about him.

Finally, Leon asked him about Tristone mountain. From their conversation, he knew that Marcus was a noble businessman and knew about a lot of things.

"Tristone mountains huh!" Marcus was surprised. A few people talked about that place. "That place is some ancient ruins. It is said there is some secret hiding inside, but no one is allowed to go to that place. That place is a restricted area and only the royal family is allowed to go there. Even them had to seek the king's personal approval before allowed to venture those mountains."

Leon knew that place was hiding a portal to Mad God Tower. But he was sure that royal family hadn't found it, as for the reason, because he had gone to the tower. 'If not for the tower, then why did they restrict it.' I don't believe there is some secret and if there is something then Sun Moon Sect would've seized it.

"Why Sun Moon Sect left that place alone?" Leon asked, his face had a hint of confusion. "Sun Moon Sect is true ruler here, if there is something important, then they would be the one to get it, not some kingdom under their rule."

"HaHa!" Marcus smiled then replied. "It seems you don't know much about Sun Moon Sect."

Leon rolled his eyes. He was the disciple of Sun Moon Sect, so how could he not know about the sect. But the next words from Marcus made him shocked.

"Sun Moon Sect was founded by four nations founder itself. And most upper echelon is comprised of these four royal families. Each of them got their own restricted areas and secrets. When a person from royal family reaches a certain realm, they leave the kingdom and join the sect. You can find even previous kings there."
