Hunch

As Liu Zijian walked slowly towards the door of the room where Han Meixiu was preparing, he saw Madam Liu coming out.

She was also dressed up.

"Mom, you're also attending?"

"No. I have a date with your Dad." She said gleefully.

"Come, see your wife and your mother's effort." She continued as she dragged her son inside.

Han Meixiu was dressed in an emerald evening dress with long sleeved crystals lace. The asymmetric tulle wrapping graciously looked enchanting as she walked towards Liu Zijian. Her smile was enchanting blinding the young man on the other side of the room.

Her hair was styled meticulously. There was a small bouffant at the crown and the front was designed in a zigzag manner with some lose strands on her side creating a stunning aura. The style didn't just heighten her sweet and ethereal face but it also exposed her elegant jade like neck.

Since her dress was covering half of her shoulders, those part seemingly raging to be touched.

Her long dropped emerald earrings with diamonds encircling every layer were softly dancing every time she moves.

Her make up made her a beauty to be remembered. She looked regal and enchanting.

Liu Zijian wanted to change his mind.

He didn't want to attend the party. He just wanted to take her somewhere. He was planning to convince his wife about his plan.

"Jian, do I look okay?" She asked innocently.

Han Meixiu wanted to know if she wasn't over dressed for the occasion. This was actually her first time to dress up this much.

Liu Zijian was conflicted. How would he answer it?

Seeing that her husband didn't react, Han Meixiu chuckled softly.

"I bet I look a bit weird."

"No."

"Huh?"

"You're beautiful. In fact, too beautiful that I don't want other to see you." He dejectedly said and lightly hugged her.

"Don't casually hug her!" Madam Liu came in between.

Both husband and wife questioningly looked at the older woman.

"You'll ruin her make up." Madam Liu answered. There was a playful flash on her eyes when she heard her son. Although her claim wasn't really true, she just wanted to tease her son.

She wondered when did he learn to sweet talk a woman.

Liu Zijian was becoming more and more like a man who is in love. He's doing those actions not because he was ordered to do so. It was his own decision. Even though it sounded selfish, at least her son was honest.

"Both of you should move now." Madam Liu as she urged them to leave before her. Mr. Liu would be arriving after half an hour.

The party was well known to the upper class society of the entire Q City. Although the invitation was limited to those influential people in all industry operating in Q City, it didn't stop the crowd to feel excited.

Although the normal people didn't know much about the life of the soon to be engaged couple, they still felt the event is something that shouldn't be missed.

One could really guessed that the event was indeed grand as if showing off the relationship of the couple to the world.

One by one, invited people came as the entrance of the venue got more and more crowded.

There were famous models and celebrities, politicians, businessmen and even iconic people of academe and sports.

Inside the venue people made their speculations by the sudden engagement party. Media personnel that were carefully chosen, were busy on how to get the right position for a one of a kind shot.

When the light inside the grand ballroom that stands separately from the main hotel started to dim, it was a signal to start the party.

The light followed a couple slowly making their way towards the assigned area.

The woman was clad in a red long dress with frills. She looked alluring as she walked with the man who was handsome enough to rival the most famous actor of the country.

They looked perfect.

As they moved to the mini stage, murmurs started to form around.

People knew the man, as one of the most sought after bachelor but the woman was shrouded with unexplained mystery.

"Who is she?"

"They said it's a Han daughter."

"Han? Isn't that the family who was exposed for their misdeeds?"

"Weren't they in hiding? When did she has time to hug Third Young Master Chen's thigh?"

"Maybe a desperate move to revive her family."

Ladies, no matter their status would love to gossip especially if they're fueled with envy.

"In the invitation it was only written as Han Mei." One of the guests reminded the group of women.

"Her name is Mei."

"Mei? There were two daughters of Han family that has Mei on their names, Meili and Meixiu."

"Hey, I know Meili. She doesn't look like her. Although they resemble a bit."

"Correct, I've seen Meixiu few times, she looked like Meili."

"Then that means she's Han Meixiu?"

"There was a rumor before that she was caught sleeping with another man by Third Young Master Chen."

"Really? Then why does he's getting engage to her now?"

"Was it really true? I don't think the Third Young Master of Chen Family would accept someone like that. Maybe it was just a baseless rumor of an envious woman!"

Discussions continued as the two shorten the distance to the stage.

Flashes from different cameras inside the venue were non-stop. Everyone was eager to get the best shot for a headline the next day.

Chen Dewei was patiently waiting for a report about Liu Zijian's arrival.

Not long after he made the first step on that five steps mini stair, he paused.

The report finally came in.

He smiled subtly and his eyes danced with the soft music of the background. They reflected the golden lights around the stage that served as decoration.

"Third Young Master Chen, Second Young Master Liu arrived. He's with Han Meixiu."

"Delay them."

She came.

Han Meili felt the small movement of the man. When she saw him smile, her heart shook. She started to get restless.

She then heard him whisper.

"Let's go"

Liu Zijian who just got off the car and currently assisting his wife was greeted by a woman.

Her face looked plain but her presence was something not to be ignored. Her lips that were painted with maroon color was curved in a friendly smile.

Wearing an elegant haltered black dress and adorned with sparkling jewelries that complimented her looks, she softly greeted the man.

"Madam Bai.." Liu Zijian bowed gently. He knew that without her interference when he rescued Han Meixiu, their group might have encountered damaged that was more than they expected.

"Your wife?" She asked and moved her gaze to the young woman who just got off.

"Yes. Han Meixiu."

Han Meixiu felt a sudden outburst of emotion the moment she heard the woman's voice.

If Mr. Di didn't give her an information before, she would have let this kind of feeling pass and would probably think she was just nervous.

But this time, she had a hunch.

"Would the young couple give this old woman some of their precious time before going in?"

Liu Zijian understood what Han Meixiu wanted when she squeezed his hand.

"Sure." He politely replied.

Han Meixiu only reservedly smiled and gently nodded.

The two then followed the woman.
