The daughter-in-law

Laying half awake,I checked the time on my phone. "It's still 3am",I said disappointed. I can't wait till daybreak,I'm really excited about today. I'm going to see my baby today,i haven't seen him this year thanks to this stupid strike. I was planning to visit him few days before the strike,so I had to go home.

It's a long distance relationship. He's in Ibogun campus and I'm in Aiyetoro campus. We've been dating since we were in Ago.We are deeply in love with each other. We spent quality time together in Ago but he got busy in Ibogun. We text almost everyday and call for hours once in a while. I visit him in Ibogun once in a month too.

I've been wanting to visit him at home since the beginning of the strike but he doesn't want me to. He finally agreed last week and I can't wait to see him today. I got out of bed exactly 6am to do the house chores. I was very happy doing it that mum noticed, "Did something happen overnight?This is the first time you're doing the house chores happily since you've been home,the first time I'm not hearing ASUU why".

"Have you forgotten I'm going to my in-law's house today".

"Sorry I forgot, extend my greetings to Timi and come back early. I'm off to work,take care".

"Okay mummy,I love you", I said as I rushed to my room to get dressed. I stay in Iyana Ipaja and he stays in Oshodi, so it took 2 hours to get there. As he opened the gate, I didn't even wait to get inside before I kissed him.

"I missed you so much baby", I said as I buried my face in his chest. "I missed you too", he hugged me tightly. "I need to take my phone upstairs babe, feel at home", he said as we got inside.

"Awwn you're just as beautiful as your voice. I've been begging him to invite you home for months. Even mummy talks about you everytime", I heard from behind.

"Really?",I asked confused.

"You should know,you guys talk often. Aunty Ope I'm very happy for you. You're the first serious girlfriend my brother is having. It happened so fast,I still can't believe it's going to be two years next week".

"My name is Olamide,we're going to be three years in a month and I've never spoken to your mum".
