1 Prologue

I kicked Teo off the counter and reached for my cell phone, which vibrated non-stop. On the screen, an unknown number. I looked at my leg, where a pile of wax was cooling, and let out a breath. It would hurt like hell when I started, but I had been without a good shave for so long that my legs were looking like a cosplay.

I answered the phone, thinking that on the other end of the line there would come another one of thousands of bank qualifications trying to convince me to make credit cards, as if I didn't already have cards with enough stretched limits.

"Hello?"

"Good morning, Miss Saviñon, please?"

"It's herself. Who would like to?"

"Hi miss Saviõn, this is Natália Bakuza, you participated in a job interview for Helix Marketing Corporation last week, and I'm calling to inform you that you've been approved."

I opened my eyes wide. In the last few weeks, what I had done the most was to deliver resumes and do interviews that I knew would not do anything, after all, I didn't have a great professional background by any means and none of the previous companies would have given me good references.

"Are you sure about that?"

"Yes. You start on Monday, be here at eight sharp, on the seventeenth floor. I will send the information directly to your email address. "

"Right, thank you!"

"Available."

I waited for the call to be disconnected and started to scream and jump from side to side like a teenager, while Teo tried to get scared under the sofa. The funny thing was that it didn't fit there anymore.

- We won't go be homeless anymore Too! Ah, how happy I am! I finally got a job and you are going to have several sardine sachets.

I went over to him and picked him up, starting to dance for my, ironically speaking, huge living room. Two was so big and heavy, and all that orange fur made him look identical to Garfield, in addition to being greedy and totally lazy, of course!

I would finally have a job, maybe not for that long, but at least I would get enough to pay the next rent and I was happy for that.
