Chapter 42

“Following me to make sure I don’t shoot anyone?”

Kiko smiled.

“You area good shot, but no. I don’t believe you killed Spencer.”

“Because I care what you think,” said Anna. “You have no idea what I’m capable of.”

“I don’t think you were sleeping with him, either.”

Anna rolled her eyes.

“Of course not. Danielle’s paranoid.” She paused, tucked the cigarette back in her purse. “Are you done?”

Kiko opened his mouth but Anna turned and left, walking down toward the parking lot. Kiko tried not to be too annoyed with the behavior, not after everything that had been going on. And he knew how he’d reacted to Clark trying to weasel information out of him. Sighing, he stood.

The sky was dark now, the wind cool and rattling the leaves and branches in the orchard. Kiko’s cider was out and he was cold, not to mention on edge. Something felt off, wasn’t quite right. He didn’t like the sensation, like someone was about to die, and he tried to shake it off. Time to find Dom.
