Chapter Twenty Eight

I was awoken by a magnificent scent. I took a quick shower and got changed, then I quickly rushed towards the scent. When I turned towards the kitchen Connor was cooking, and OMG, he was only wearing his jeans that hung way too low, and my apron. My poor, poor apron, what has it ever done to him. I snuck behind him and jumped on his back. He stepped back and started running around the kitchen island holding me up. He kept going until the kitchen timer went off. He put down on the counter and pulled something out of the oven. I couldn't see what it was because he kept his back turned towards me and just as I hopped down he turned around and quickly picked me up and placed me on the couch. Right next to me sat the book I was reading. It was just too tempting, I snatched the book and buried my nose in it. Ughh, he's too smart for his own good. It was about another 4 hours before I finished the book. I searched the house and didn't find him. The only room I didn't check was the weapons room, and I didn't hear the front or garage door open. I opened the door and the first thing I noticed was my precious rifle was missing. My lucky rifle, I had been using that rifle before I took over the silver dragon. I went to where it was supposed to be placed and saw a note. I didn't recognize the handwriting. It said:

"Hello Alice,

This rifle is mine, unless you find me. I will leave you clues to take you to my location. Only you are allowed to search for me. I will know if you bring other people. If you want your rifle back then you have to find me.

Your first clue is:

Behind your second home

~BC"

BC what could that mean, I have no idea. And where is Connor? Ughhh, I guess he probably was with his friends, I texted Davis and he quickly said he was with them. Good that gives me time to find whoever took my rifle. It's not just about getting my rifle, I need to catch this person because if they can get into the weapons room without any alarms going off he could seriously be a threat. But what is my second home... THE BASE, I hopped on my bike and quickly drove there when I got there I rushed behind the building and saw a little wooden box. I opened it and there sat the next clue

"Good job you found me, on to the next.

The fun place in a boring place

~BC"

Ughh, this is annoying. Huh, a boring place, SCHOOL, but what's fun at school. I guess the playground. (Ya, ya, I know we are in high school and have a playground. We students can't use it, it is there for the teachers' kids, when the teachers have to go to work and the kids don't have anywhere else to go.) I rushed to the school and got to the small playground behind the school. On one of the swings was the next clue.

"Good job, you're on a roll, almost there, just a few more. The next clue is:

The hill with the best view is where you need to go

~BC"

The hill with the best view, I don't know. Maybe the hill that Connor took me to, that one time. It's worth a shot. I drove there and on top of the hill was the next clue that was being held down by a rock.

"Woohoo, you are getting close. Keep going and it will be over soon.

The room with the longest kiss, a kiss that didn't lead to anything else

~BC"

How did they know, the kiss in the hotel room from truth or dare. Ughh, I am starting to hate this guy more and more.

As soon as I arrived at the hotel room, there was a note on the door.

"Go to the farthest east corner of the beach and there you will find me

~BC"

Ok, this is really annoying, this one better be the last or else I am just going to hire some people to do this for me. I ran over and by the time I got to the farthest East corner, it was sunset, there were some brown arrows on the ground that normally you wouldn't notice but my keen eye happened to notice it. I followed the arrows into some trees and into a clearing, then the arrows disappeared. I looked up to see Connor hanging from a tree branch by his hands, he was unconscious.

"Come out and fight me!" I shouted and I heard a rustle in the leaves. There out popped Lucas. Of course it was him. But how did he get my rifle?

"You see your little friend here, he is dead if you don't become mine," he said as I once again looked over to Connor. He was hovering over the ground, shirtless. I took a deep breath and closed my eyes, trying not to go full rampage on him. I need to get my rifle back first. I looked up trying to calm myself down, and there it was sitting on a tree branch, my rifle. Lucas was still drooling over me. Seeing how I was only short jean shorts, and a crop top since it was burning up outside. I jumped and grabbed one of the branches I sung over and grabbed another. Lucas started climbing after me, but there was no way he could catch me. I snatched my rifle and jumped down. It was only like 10 feet in the air, not that big of a jump. I landed on my feet and quickly aimed at Lucas. My bullet merely grazed him, before he aimed, not at me but at Connor. He shot the rope then shot at his left arm. And as I rushed over to assist Connor, he got away. I ripped one of the sleeves of my shirt and tied the cloth around his arm. A few seconds after I wrapped the cloth around Connors arm, he woke up. It didn't take long for him to see what had happened and he pulled me in for a hug.

"I am so sorry, he said if I didn't get him the rifle he would make sure I never saw you again." He started crying out, pushing me back a little so he could scan me to see if I was injured.

"It's ok, I would have killed him, if you got killed" I replied hugging him again. After a second or two of us just enjoying each other's embraces he got up

"Time to go home, I don't want any boys seeing my princess wearing this, it covers so little." He said as he motioned towards my clothes. He hopped on my bike and before I could abject he sped off. Once we got home, he ran into the kitchen and looked in one of the cabinets and sighed in relief. Before I got the chance to ask what he was doing he pulled out a box from the cabinet and told me to sit down at the bar. I did as I was told and he opened the box to reveal a pink cake with white icing that spelled out happy birthday.

"Connor, I don't know what to say," I said as I literally didn't know what to say.

"Nothing as long as you promise to be mine and only mine." He replied as he got out a knife, some forks, and some plates. We dug into the delicious food and I swear that was the best cake I have ever had. Seeing how Hannah has always brought me those crappy store bought cakes.

"Delicious, best birthday cake ever" I said as I turned to look at him. He put his thumb to my check and wiped some frosting off.

"So cute" he said chuckling a little

"I AM NOT CUTE" I shouted and punched him lightly in his stomach.

"You're right, you're not cute" he said as he collected the plates and put them in the dishwasher. He came over to me and leaned against the counter so his nose was almost touching mine.

"You are my adorable, little princess" he whispered

"I AM NOT LITTLE EITHER" I shouted. And turning my head slightly, acting like I was pouting. He just laughed. And came around the counter and sat next to me.
