¬ HILN

"And that is precisely one of the reasons she won't be coming along," I dryly uttered, baffled as Fashire frowned at Didi.

He turned to me, surprised.

'You didn't have to frown at it,' I thought.

Even if it felt like I was rejecting a gift from him, it was no use if that gift did not want me. It would also be harsh to rob it of its freedom.

"She won't be comfortable with either of us," I said, facing Gyasi. "And—"

"From the looks of it, she wouldn't be clinging to you if she didn't like you," Gyasi offered with a placating smile, gentle and a little sympathetic as he gazed down at the little creature.

I had mixed feelings before stepping away from Didi, resolute. She didn't follow but just stared at me.

"It would be better if she stayed here," I let out.

There was a great hesitation mixed with fear on the kitten's part, and I wouldn't be entirely comfortable with dragging her to such dangerous places.
