49 Chapter 49 Battle in Metropolis

After dropping off the invisible women I teleported back home to relax for a little while before I go back on patrol, and also to check up on Artenyx and the eggs.

The Digimon eggs and the Ender dragon egg all remained at my apartment in what looked like a small we ing bundle that acted like a best that Artenyx used to check on them.

Now some (Tron) might question why leave the eggs with Artenyx and not myself in my inventory and digivice well Artenyx needed something to do that will keep her here in my penthouse and not trying again to follow me around the city or just exploring.

So I gave her the task of taking care of the eggs which she dubbed...

Artenyx: "little brothers and or sisters"

And took to the task skillfully and kept me up to date on if anything had happened but most of the time nothing happens sometimes there would be a small shake or a bump from the Digimon eggs but nothing from the dragon egg yet.

as I sat watching the news for something to grab my attention but it wasn't the Tv that grabbed it as Artenyx came down from her ceiling web and landed next to me

"what is it Artenyx is something the matter?" I part her head which gets a good part out of her.

Artenyx: "Can I ask Papa for something?" well this is a surprise Artenyx only ever asks for food, toys, or playing.

"Of course, you can what do want?" I had plenty of points to spend and if it wasn't from the system money was not an issue.

Artenyx: "could I. . . could you. . ." she was fidgeting which she only did when she was either nervous or embarrassed.

'what could she want that she finds asking this nervous?'

'really what is it?' but Trom don't get to answer.

Artenyx: "Could you make me look like a human." she said it in a whisper but I did hear it and immediately the system gave me a popup.

[Remember she is a child and you have been busy for the past few days with school and patrolling so she most likely didn't want to be a bother]

"if you ever need anything don't hesitate to ask ok," I say bringing her into a hug then kissing her on the head making her do all the happy noises "now how about we see your human form"

Artenyx: "ok papa" and in a flash, instead of a large caterpillar now sat a little girl with long black hair and blue aqua eyes in a cute uniform.

"By the One Above All you are the most adorable thing I have ever seen," I say bringing Artenyx into a hug causing the little girl to giggle endlessly. this went on for a time until the sound of an explosion caught my attention I looked towards the tv the news showed the city of Metropolis was in chaos.

~I am Louis lane with the daily planet here live over the downtown of Metropolis as multiple villains have attacked the city of tomorrow~ through the video feed could be seen the flashing lights of the police could be seen with bodies lying all around but some could be seen fighting back against something blocked by the smoke of buildings on fire.

~The villains confirmed to be the ones responsible for this destruction are Toyman, Livewire, Gorilla Grodd, Parasite, and Atomic Skull~

Pictures of each of said villains were shown on the screen with their real name and alias under their name were their powers and warnings to avoid them.

"Alright, Artenyx I need to go" I placed her back on the couch and equipped all of my equipment except my bow, pickaxe, inferno, and Dawn.

Artenyx: "Be careful and kick their butts" she gave me a hug and a thumbs up before I unfurled my wings and launched into the sky.

POV Billy Batson a.k.a Shazam

I pulled myself out of the rubble of the building trying to remember what hit me only for my attempt to hampered I felt weak then I remembered the parasite.

Batman: "Batman to Shazam if you are done resting we could use a heavy hitter out here!" his normally stoic and cold voice had a hint of exasperation.

"I'm up and on my way where do you need me?" I said feeling some of my energy return slowly so I could now fly out of the hole and find myself hovering over Metropolis or what's left of it it's only been 5 minutes since I was called in and on arrival, I was ambushed by the parasite.

Batman: "We need Grodd dealt with he's keeping the psychic link between them that's how they've kept their cohesion" I looked around and find Grodd easily as he's in the middle of this chaos on a platform made of wrecked cars

Shazam: "I'm on it" I rocket towards Grodd and from the looks on his face he noticed me as soon as I flew towards him "this chaos ends now Grodd!"

Grodd: "Sorry but your not the Boy Scout I'm looking for" as I got close I rammed into something stopping me from getting closer "so please let Mr. Martin keep you company while we wait?" I heard something to my left and turned just in time to see the first of the atomic skull punching me away into a car making it fold in on itself.

"Shazam to Batman Grodd has a field around him protecting him and-" as I talk atomic skull jumped at me but I sidestep it so he only hits the wrecked car "it looks like he's waiting for ok superman", as I finished atomic skull through two punches I dodge them and the third I caught and delivered an uppercut sending him flying into a building.

POV Bruce Wayne a.k.a Batman

'So they're here for superman but why?' I drop out of the batwing falling into the middle of Toyman's toy soldiers who had been firing and advancing on the pined down law enforcement.

'Maybe to confirm the rumor that he's missing would be my first assumption,' I released a smoke cloud and began the process of destroying the toy soldiers 'but why so public why a group instead of one or two a distraction maybe?' I used my built-in visors to see through the smoke and confirm I had finished off this group and grappled to the batting that flew over me.

"Alfred I need you to see if anything besides these five is happening around the city" I piloted the batwing to the next mass of toy soldiers.

Alfred: "Is this destruction, not enough action for you sir?" I held back a smirk to continue on my way only for my controls to suddenly go haywire.

~*bzzt* this is your onboard computer telling you that you better hope this ride has dame good airbags because this baby is going down hard hope you like a bumpy ride *bzzt*~

Suddenly the batwing started careening downward but I hit my ejector launching myself out of the jet through the top using my grappling hook I swing to an outing on a building and watched as the batwing crashed into the ground mostly intact.

Livewire: "Well well well if it isn't tall dark and gloomy" Livewire hovered over Batman electric sparked off her "now be a good little man and call the big blue will ya?"

I pressed a panel on my utility belt sending out a message for reinforcements on my position 'looking at the electrical arcs she's probably close to max in energy reserves meaning no close combat unless I want to feel what it's like to be a fly in a bug zapper'.

As I was about to throw a barrage of Batarangs only for me to notice the shape behind Livewire 'how did I not notice him?'

Nightfury: "Excuse me" he tapped her shoulder Livewire unaware of the presence and the sudden physically touch made her turn only to get punchard and sent through a building "so Batman how can I help the Justice league today?"
