21 The Dreaming.

The Dreaming…

At the very edge of the multiverse, stood a proud and beautiful city, guarded by an ancient race. Known to be the home of the Lord of Dreams, Morpheus, it was where dreams and hopes were born and returned to after serving their purpose.

*WOOSH!*

A streak of black lightning flashed a over the city, before it materialised into the figure of a beautiful pale skinned woman. Her long dark hair cascaded to her back like a waterfall. Her shapely body was covered in clothing that was strangely far beyond the current time; a pair of dark tight jeans, a black tank top and a pair of dark gloves.

On her neck was the golden ankh symbol that was connected to a golden chain, a symbol that represented life, immortality and reincarnation.

She descended to the ground right in front of the great city and disappeared in an instant.

.

At the centre of the Dreaming, stood a large tower that seemed to reach into the void itself. Exuding a calm and otherworldly aura, it looked unapproachable as if reflected the feelings of the entity within.

Inside the tower and at the highest floor, there existed a large throne, and on the throne sat an entity in the likeness of a man. With a lean and handsome but stoic face, he sat there calmly with his legs crossed, dressed in a black robe. His dark hair was spiky and messy, and his deep black eyes seemed to reflect the wonders of creation.

The woman from before appeared before the man's throne in an instant, as a smile graced her beautiful face.

"Good to see you brother.."

She gently nodded, as the man on the throne slowly stood up and walked towards her.

"What brings you here, my dear sister? Or can I offer you something?"

He gestured with his hand, and immediately, golden sand materialised out of nowhere and coalesced into golden chairs and a table which both of them sat on.

"Just came to visit, Morpheus. It has been eons since we saw each other." The woman, Death, smiled once more, as the stoic man, the Lord of Dreams and king of hope, Dream also known as Morpheus nodded.

"Tell me what you have been up to my dear sister."

He finally smiled and waved his hand, as the golden sand materialised once more and coalesced into two golden glasses filled with a red liquid, which he offered to Death.

Taking the glass filled with 'wine' Death took a sip, took a deep breath and raised her head to the ceiling.

"Sigh. I have not been up to much in the past million years brother, what about you?"

She spoke and turned to him, as he also took a sip and answered.

"Other than managing the Dreaming in preparation for the multitudes of creatures whose dreams will one day fill this place, I too have not been up to much, sister."

"Is it not tiring, brother? Doing this all by yourself? If you ever need my help, just tell me."

Death asked with concern, but Morpheus shook his head and gave a faint smile.

"It is manageable at the very least. But everyone single one of us has a responsibility and a part to play. Father expects this of us, and the Creator does as well. I do not want to let anyone down."

Morpheus nodded in appreciation, but respectfully declined the offer.

"If you say so, brother. But just know that if you ever need me, I will be here to help out." Death spoke in determination, while Morpheus smiled and caressed her head like any elder brother would.

"Speaking of the Creator, how far has his project with humanity come?"

Dream asked, while Death smiled unconsciously, as a result of a memory that she recently acquired.

"Humanity is just in its infancy, however, there is this being who calls himself Alan. He is human, however, he is not a mortal, and I believe he has existed before the creator made humans, however, the thing that bothers me most is that, unlike all of creation and even us, he does not have the essence of the creator in him."

Her smile faded halfway, while Dream furrowed his brows.

"Could he be?"

"I do not know brother."

They exchanged looks once more, as Death let out a sigh.

"Death, if he is what he believe him to be, then you must eradicate him before he upsets the balance of the multiverse."

Dream spoke as he clenched his fists and looked her in the eye.

"I know brother, but he has done nothing to upset the balance of the cosmos, and besides, even if I wanted to, I cannot. In fact, none of us can."

She shook her head and Morpheus was stunned hearing this from her.

"First off, he seems to be closely aquainted with Lord Samael, and any move made against him will surely draw his ire. Secondly, even if we had the opportunity to kill him, we cannnot, because he has gained enough into the realm of absolute immortality, that only creator has access to. Hence, even if we manage to erase him from existence, he would just come back to life."

Death sighed and picked up her glass, drinking everything in one gulp.

"Look, sister, even if we cannot kill him, there has to be a way to seal him or get him out of the way! I think this should be reported to Saint Michael."

Dream urgently raised his opinions, while Death shook her head.

"Forget about his immortality, Morpheus, we cannot touch him even if we want. We all know the hatred Lord Samael has for us , and the only reason we're still living, breathing entities is because Saint Michael is restraining him, otherwise he would've destroyed us and reverted us back to our conceptual state. Also, reporting this to Saint Michael is not really a good idea.

Once the host of Heaven come to learn of his true nature, there could possibly be a war, between them and Lord Samael which would in turn affect the balance that we're so desperately trying to protect."

Morpheus was silent after Death's suggestion. They were really powerless concerning Alan's situation.

"Is the creator aware of all of this?" He sighed and reclined in his seat, and asked.

"He should. But I have no idea what His plans are for our dear human. We'll just have to wait and see how it all plays out. And in the meantime, I will keep my eye on him."

She spoke and disappeared, leaving the Lord of Dreams confused and speechless on his seat.

.

Meanwhile, several days had passed on earth since the battle between Alan and Samael.

.

"Hahaha!"

In the forbidden part of the Garden of Eden, two figures could be seen seated on rocks while enjoying each other's company.

Lilith laughed boisterously with tears in her eyes, while Alan smirked from time to time, clearly proud of his sense of humour.

"Oh Alan, you are so entertaining." She patted his shoulder and laughed in between her words, while Alan smirked again.

They had gotten pretty close over the past few days, becoming really good friends. As for Lilith, whenever she was with Alan, she could finally express herself in any way without being judged. Alan was the only one who truly cared for her and tried to make her happy despite all of her problems, like a real sibling would.

"Thank you for coming today, Alan. To be honest, things with Adam gets worse day by day. I'm beginning to think that he thinks of me like an object to be possessed and controlled, rather than a real person."

Her expression turned gloomy in that instant, while Alan patted her shoulder.

"You know, I can always teach him a lesson for you if you want. A few kicks to the head should surely reset the mindset of 'God's firstborn.'"

Alan joked while Lilith laughed in response.

"Anyway, I should get going. He would probably be looking for me by now. Let's meet here tomorrow at the same time, and you can you invite your friend to-to join us next time?"

She turned shy at the end of her statement, while Alan playfully winked.

"I don't know if his holy highness will be willing to join us, but it's worth a try."

Alan joined her as they walked out of the Northen section of the garden.

"Lilith?!"

The moment they got to the intersection of the four rivers, an angry voice resounded, and the smile on Lilith's face vanished the next moment.

Alan on the other hand sighed and turned around only to see Adam standing behind them with a frown.

"What are you doing with this filth?! And why in the name of the creator, are you coming out of the Northern section?!!"

His voice was loud and commanding, while Lilith felt short of words and stammered.

"I-I.."

*SLAP!*

As she fumbled with her words, she suddenly felt a searing pain on her cheek and raised her head only to realise that Adam had hit her.

"What the hell is wrong with you!"

Alan raged and moved in an instant, grabbing him by the throat and lifting him up.

"Unhand me, you scum! Or you will pay dearly for this!"

He continued to roar, while Alan slowly tightened his hand until he began to choke.

"Let him go! Please…"

Lilith rushed towards them with tears in her eyes and begged Alan to let him go.

"Fine."

Alan dropped him onto the ground, as the man struggled to catch his breath.

"You think you're mighty?! The Creator will deal with you, after hearing what you have done!"

Adam roared towards Alan who was being held back by Lilith.

"Oh? I wonder what the creator is going to say after I rip your head off your shoulders then?"

Suddenly a voice rung out, as Samael descended behind them, with a sword in hand and flames in his eyes.
