23 Chapter 22

For the next couple of weeks after the factory incident, nothing serious happened.

I stopped a few muggings here and there, trained my body with regular exercises and my mind with meditation.

I was pretty content with my life. Living with Lorelei, having fun with Cynthia and Kara while also helping at the centre. Between that, going to the movies, shopping and having smoothies there wasn't a single boring moment. For the most part.

Unfortunately, I didn't find any clue as to where I was in relation to the Koprulu Sector or even how I got here.

On the bright side, I didn't encounter anything weird like the time with Metallo. The one behind the scenes either gave up or they're biding their time.

The Justice League hasn't found anything yet but I did team up with one of their members once. He's called Red Tornado and I have to admit that history is quite intriguing and reminded me a bit of the Purifiers.

Everything was fine and dandy until Kara invited me to her house for dinner and a movie.

Unlike before, I could recognize a lot of social cues that Terrans have, not to mention that I'm not blind. I knew what that meant and recognized her feelings. Admittedly, I felt the same way which was what scared me.

I've never been in a relationship back in Aiur thanks to constant training. It was another new territory for me.

"If I'm going to be in a relationship, I have to be forthcoming and honest. I must tell her about my true identity and other persona. I don't know how she'll take it. She's an alien as well but appearance-wise she's the same as Terrans. I'm proud of my Protoss form but what will she think."

Thoughts like these swarmed my mind as I walked closer and closer to her apartment. I loosened my grip on a bouquet of roses, red chrysanthemums and white camellias, so as to not crush it.

The door appeared before me and I resolutely went for it. I rang the doorbell and the door was opened pretty much instantly.

The gorgeous visage of Kara graced my eyes. She was wearing skintight dark jeans with a black backless blouse. A simple silver belt and watch adorned her waist and wrist respectfully. Her blond hair was tied up in a ponytail, completing the look.

Kara: Hey!

Silence. Only after she blinked twice did I snap back to reality.

Voranis: Wow! You look amazing!

She giggled happily.

Kara: Thank you! You're not so bad yourself.

She winked and beckoned me to come inside.

I entered and gave her the bouquet with a smile.

She gave me a peck on my cheek.

Kara: They're beautiful.

After the pleasantries, we sat next to each other on a comfy couch in her livingroom with drinks in our hands. A movie about a gigantic lizard was playing on the TV.

Voranis: How was your day?

Kara: It was a disaster. I had to team up with other young heroes and we almost screwed up the mission. Miss Martian got into a fight with Superboy and Kid Flash got hurt. As for me...I could have done better.

Besides all that, we completed the mission, saved the day and Wa- Kid Flash will be good as new by the end of the week.

Voranis: Wow, I just moved a few pieces of lab equipment all day.

I said after a pause and made her laugh.

Kara: It doesn't sound that bad.

Voranis: It wasn't bad, just...normal.

Kara: Maybe I like 'just normal'.

She smiled and leaned closer to me. I did the same.

Voranis: I don't believe you, how about you prove it?

Then, our lips met. A kiss as sweet as candy.

Some time later we separated but the distance remained close to nothing.

Voranis: I think I like heroes. I must recheck though.

She tried to laugh but I sealed her lips again with a kiss.

Time blurred as heat rose and our passion became more and more intense. We grew bolder with each beat of our hearts.

The next morning, I woke up next to a sleeping angel. Kara was still asleep facing me. Her face was the picture of beauty and peace.

"The event that took me from my home, my family and my people, that hand of fate that brought me here also gave me another home, another family...and her. I don't know if my feelings are actual love, but if not, it's close. I-"

My thoughts paused as I saw her stir and open her eyes.

Voranis: Good Morning ms. Zor-El.

I teased her.

Kara: Good morning!

She stretched and the thin sheet fell from her body. It was my turn to be teased as she eyed my reaction for a bit before covering herself once more.

I smiled awkwardly and she chuckled at my reaction.

Voranis: So Kara, I want to ask if you'd like to come for dinner tonight. I've already asked Lorelei and Cynthia will be there as well.

I asked what I've been meaning to since yesterday.

Kara: Of course I'll be there!

She quickly answered and then got up while holding the sheet as cover.

Even with the cover, I could see the swaying of her hips as she went to take a bath.

I could hear the rushing water of the shower and decided to lay down and relax.

Kara: You know, it's a good thing that Cynthia will also be there tonight. I've been wanting to meet her.

Her voice was heard from the bath.

Voranis: I'm sure you'll like her. You'll get along great.
