20 Chapter 19

Kara led me to a counter with long chairs and after saying something to a woman serving drinks, she turned to me and leaned close.

Kara: How is it? Tell me your first impression.

I took a look around for a bit. I saw some people dancing, some drinking and felt that they were having fun. As for me...

Voranis: I'll reserve my answer until the end.

I smirked and she leaned back with a chuckle.

Kara: Sure, have it your way.

The woman behind the counter which I learned was known as a barista, gave us two drinks.

Kara: Try it! I picked it for you since you don't know much about drinks.

She tapped her glass with mine and took a sip while eyeing me expectantly. Taking a gulp of the drink, the strong taste of alcohol attacked my senses and I almost chocked.

Voranis: Wh-what is this?

The heavy taste of alcohol and its strong smell, made my eyes tear a bit.

Kara: It's vodka with a bit of juice but it seems that it's a bit too strong for your first time. That and you took quite a big gulp. It's meant to be enjoyed slowly.

Voranis: My bad, I just didn't expect it and was surprised.

"It truly is a weird concoction but I won't lose to it!"

After finishing our drinks, Kara pulled me towards a mob of dancing people with a big smile on her face. It looked fun and I didn't want to disappoint Kara so I went along with her.

At first it was really awkward but got into it after a few tries. Sometimes I bumped into Kara and sometimes I stepped on random people but I truly was having a great time as we both laughed while dancing.

[1st person, Kara]

I excused myself for a bit and left Voranis alone as I went to the washroom. While walking, a man with red hair caught my attention. As my eyes followed him, I noticed two more people and recognized another.

Feeling that this situation is a little sus, I walked up to them while the red haired man had his back turned to me and put my hand on his shoulder.

Kara: Hey there Wally!

My voice was cheerful and caught them off guard but then...

Kara: What are you guys doing here?

I said feeling annoyed

Wally: Oh! H-Hey Kara, fancy meeting you here!

The red haired young man greeted me which prompted the other three to facepalm.

He tried to take a step away from me but i tightened my grip.

Kara: So?

Wally: AW AW AW! I'll talk, I'll talk! I overheard Artemis and Megan talking about it and we just had to see.

Then, Artemis cleared her throat.

Wally: I-I-I mean, I had to see. The girls came to keep me quote on quote in check, and Connor...I don't even know why he came.

Megan: I'm sorry we ruined your fun Kara. Though I must say, you two look really cute together.

The pretty looking girl with freckles tried to mediate.

Artemis: True! But if you don't want him, I'd like to give it a shot.

The blonde also pitched in.

Wally: He's good, but not that handsome!

All three of the girls gave him the stink eye at the same time.

Connor: I don't even know why you're making such a big deal out of it. I'm gonna get a drink.

He grumbled as he left towards the bar.

Kara: Stay out of sight and don't make a scene. Hopefully he hasn't notice you yet.

Megan: I'm sure he noticed You at the very least.

Kara: Huh? How do you know that?

Megan: He just turned and looked at you for a second and then turned away. He probably didn't want to bother you while you were talking to us. Do you want me to read what he's thinking?

"What?? That sounds..."

Kara: Yes! No! Maybe! I dunno...No, that would be bad...Thank you, but no.

I became a little flustered at her suggestion since everyone at some point or another had wanted to know what their date was thinking, but that's unacceptable.

Artemis: I wanna know what a hunk like that has on his mind.

I gave Artemis a glare that only another woman could understand it's depth.

Before I could say another word, I realized something.

Kara: Where's Wally?

I looked at the first place that came to mind. There he was, next to Voranis.

A sigh escape my lips.

"Well...what else could go wrong?"

[1st person, Voranis]

A bit later after Kara left, I noticed she was talking to 3 people. I didn't want to be rude and intrude so I opted to stay back untill she returned.

I walked to the counter and sat 1 seat away from a tall black haired young man with broad shoulders.

"What was that?"

I felt a subtle wave of psychic energy from the immediate vicinity but it was gone as quick as it came so I couldn't pinpoint it.

"I'm certain that whatever that was, it didn't detect m-"

Wally: Hey there!

The red haired man that Kara was talking to, greeted me.

Voranis: Hello?

Wally: I'm Wally, Kara's friend, nice to meet ya!

Voranis: I'm called Voranis and I'm also one of Kara's friends.

His eyes widened just a bit that it was almost imperceptible.

Wally: Really? You're just friends?

He seemed surprised for some reason.

Voranis: What do you mean?

Wally: Really now?

He put a hand over my shoulder.

Wally: Come on now, just between us men.

His smile turned weird.

Wally: What have you done i-

Kara: Hey there Wally, I think Megan was looking for you.

Kara interjected and at the mention of the name, he seemed to perk up and his eyes almost sparkled.

Wally: Oh, got to go then! See you in a bit!

"Interesting fellow"

Kara: Let's go!

Immediately after Wally left, Kara took hold of my hand and quickly pulled me to the exit.
