19 Chapter 18

[3rd Person]

A black-haired man with glasses looked at the sky and the darkening sky, evidence of the late evening hour, as he entered a tall building.

He entered the elevator and pressed one button among many without even having to look for it as this was an action he was quite familiar with.

He reached the right floor and stood in front of an apartment before gently knocking on the door.

A few seconds later the door was opened by a young beautiful blond woman. She was wearing baggy grey shorts, a white T-shirt far too large for her lithe body while a strap of her black sports bra peeked from under the neck of the shirt.

Clark: Hey Kara!

Kara: Cuz! Come in!

She readjusted her feet in a pair of slippers that wrote 'Join the Fluff Side' and made way for the man.

Clark sat on an armchair and Kara took a seat at the couch.

Kara: What brings you here?

Clark: I wanted to see how you were doing and to ask how the mission went.

He answered with a smile.

Kara: The mission was ok. I went to train with the team and didn't expect a situation where they had to sortie but since I was already there, I decided to give them a hand. If you disregard a few 'miscommunications' with Connor which thankfully Megan mediated, everything was good. I actually had fun working with them.

Clark: That is very good to hear. About Connor... I'm trying to handle it. You know it's not easy for me.

The smile faded from his lips as he felt bad for Superboy.

Kara placed her hand on his arm and spoke.

Kara: I know cuz, don't worry, he has found his place, he just needs your support.

Her encouragement work and a warm smile formed on his face which then turned to a grin.

Clark: Now that we're talking about boys, I heard you're hanging around with some guy. Our Kara is growing up!

He said teasingly.

Kara: What? Lies! W-where did you hear about that?

She denied it but a healthy blush marked her pretty face.

He laughed.

Clark: Remember how you were teasing me about Lois? Hehehehe I'm going to have fun with this!

He received a pillow to the face as an answer but it didn't bother him.

Kara: You can't use my tactics against me! And he's just a friend.

Clark raised an eyebrow.

Clark: Really? Well... it's really none of my business but be careful and don't forget to always use protec-

Kara: Clark!!!

...

The promised date and time had arrived. Voranis was excited at the idea of trying alcohol. Plus the company of Kara is always welcomed.

For this occasion, Voranis wore a pair of dark jeans, a white shirt and a black jacket with five gold lines on it.

It was an honest try at fashion for the young Protoss.

[1st Person]

Voranis: I hope I'm not too early.

I went to press the doorbell to notify Kara but the name Kara Zor-El was not there and I didn't even know which was the right floor.

"Damn! Major oversight on my part...what am I going to do now?"

Wracking my brain to find a solution didn't present me with an answer but fortunately my salvation had arrived.

I saw a pair of doors sliding open and Kara was walking out of a small room with a lot of buttons.

She was wearing a dark olive green dress that reached just a bit lower than her knees which hugged her body and highlighted her curves perfectly.

It wasn't anything extravagant but it suited her.

Voranis: Wow! You look great!

I gave her my honest opinion and got a smile for that.

Kara: You know, you're not so bad yourself.

She said teasingly.

Voranis: Thank you! By the way, how did you know when to come down? I didn't even ring the doorbell.

Kara: I saw you from my apartment, my supervision allows me to see through things.

Voranis: Even clothes?

"Damn, that ability is super useful for scouting and checking for hidden weapons."

For some reason she turned red like a tomato at my question.

Kara: I-I...I would NEVER use it li-like that!

Voranis: Sure, I believe you.

I showed her a bright smile.

Kara: You tease!

She mumbled something and sighed.

I tilted my head a bit, not understanding what was the problem just now.

Kara: Anyway, let's go!

We began walking down the road.

Voranis: So, where are we going?

Kara: There's a fairly new nightclub called Mist Opportunities that's pretty popular right now.

Voranis: That's a weird name...

Kara: You're right about that but what can you do? Since it's popular we'll have to go a bit early since the line will be too long later.

We arrived outside of the place and found quite a few people already waiting in line. Some were in pairs, others in groups. But what stood out is the sheer diversity of clothing that everyone wore. Bright colours, weird shapes, accessories of all kinds, it looked chaotic.

Voranis: Wow! It's pretty popular if so many people are waiting just to enter.

Kara smiled.

Kara: I told you, didn't I? If we had come later, it would take hours to go in. Though despite it's look, the interior is massive so it is extremely difficult to feel crammed.

I nodded as excitement was welling up inside me.

While we were waiting outside, I felt like we were being watched. I didn't say anything to Kara and looked around without being too obvious but nothing seemed out of place.

"Maybe it's just me..."

It was finally our turn to enter and after passing through three different sets of doors, my ears were assaulted with loud music. It took me a minute or two to get used to the volume but after that, the music wasn't that unpleasant.
