17 Weapon Development Department

Lying in bed, Thea knew her mother was a bit skeptical of her decision, but she simply allowed her to follow her own heart and didn't say anything more. However, she didn't know how dangerous this world could be; she had been awakened from her dreams countless times.

From various sources, it was clear that Superman and Batman, the two big shots, had clashed several times already. The official statement was "a draw." What did this mean? It means that this Superman is New 52 Superman or DCEU Superman. Otherwise, Batman, no matter how big he was, wouldn't have been able to achieve a draw.

Take a look at Superman during the Silver Age, and you'll understand. He could blow out stars with a single breath, destroy the solar system with a sneeze, move more than a dozen planets with his own strength, move faster than lightning, break through time barriers, and kill his own mother, ignoring causality.

Doesn't the above introduction sound familiar? These are all abilities that protagonists only obtain in the final two chapters of fantasy novels. Superman came onto the scene with this level of power.

Even Super Saiyans are no match for him. How could Batman fight under these conditions? So this Superman must be one of the weaker iterations.

Actually, Thea wasn't afraid of Superman being too strong; she was afraid of him being too weak. If Superman from the Silver Age were protecting the Earth, it would definitely be a time of peace. No supervillain would dare to cause trouble. She could just live her life as a beautiful CEO and play games with Felicity. But unfortunately, it was an era of chaos, where wealth couldn't be converted into strength. It was like a castle in the sky; it would collapse with a light touch.

She should pay more attention to the company's Weapon Development Department. They surely had the equipment she urgently needed. Perhaps she could even become a version of Iron Man in the DC world? Ah, she was being too optimistic. For the sake of confidentiality, she could only develop it on her own or with a few assistants. A large-scale project with the Queen-Merlyn Group for a five-year plan would inevitably be taken over by the military in the end.

Even with Tony Stark having S.H.I.E.L.D. as a protective umbrella, he still handed over a set of armor. So what about herself? She could only research alone. But Tony entered MIT at the age of fifteen and graduated at eighteen with dual doctorates. He could knock out a Mark I in a cave. She was also fifteen, and she hadn't even finished high school yet. Ah, people really shouldn't be compared.

Although the dream of becoming Iron Man was still in the dreaming stage, Thea still had to live a routine life of work, forest, and home the next day. As for graduating from high school, Moira had thrown a lot of money at it for technical research and lobbying, and the results were impressive. If nothing unexpected happened, she would be able to study electronic engineering at Princeton next year.

Moira was very supportive of her daughter's desire to attend a prestigious school, at least more supportive than learning how to kill more efficiently. As for why she chose engineering instead of fields with more women like journalism or biotechnology, she didn't think too much about it.

Malcolm took an indifferent stance, but he also helped to smooth things over. After all, it was always good to learn more. At the same time, he wondered if his son's foolishness was because of his lack of education. Should he also let his son join in and learn? But after comparing Thea's SAT scores, he gave up on the idea. Tommy's elementary school level should stay in Starling City; it would be embarrassing for him to go outside and embarrass himself.

At this moment, Thea was unaware that she had inadvertently caused some trouble for Tommy again. She was touring the company's Weapon Development Department, or rather, just wandering around.

"Dr. Hoffman, what is this?" Thea pointed to an object similar to Magneto's helmet and asked.

The elderly man with white hair next to her was not pleased that this wealthy young lady had come to wander around for no reason. However, since the department head, Andre, mysteriously disappeared, the entire department needed him to coordinate. He didn't dare to offend the future inheritor of the company.

Dr. Hoffman hesitated for a moment and then vaguely said, "This is a positioning helmet, you can think of it as something like radar." In fact, this thing was completely different from radar, but he was afraid that this young lady would ask too many questions, so he just casually used a well-known term hoping to quickly get through it.

"Radar?" Thea was a bit confused. This thing felt nice to the touch, but it had nothing to do with radar. Was this another case of being taken advantage of because of her lack of education? She ignored the mention of radar and focused on the previous question. "You said it's a positioning helmet? How does it work?"

Dr. Hoffman felt a bit annoyed. He had been too honest. How could he have blurted out the actual name? Anyone with common sense could see that there was a problem. He could only honestly say, "It calculates using probability distribution algorithms." He thought to himself, 'Let this little girl see how capable I am.'

Thea had never heard such a sophisticated term before, but she politely asked, "What can it calculate?"

The old man was too lazy to deal with her anymore and muttered, "It calculates the surrounding bioelectric field."

This term was familiar to Thea from some books she had read, "Is it like sharks, using passive electric field positioning?"

Wow, this girl is something! At her age, shouldn't kids be hanging out at bars drinking? The old doctor didn't expect the future heir of the company to see through the key points of their research and development. His interest was piqued, and he began to explain his proud work in detail.

"Miss Queen, you're right. We analyzed the hunting patterns of sharks. They have large bodies and severe visual degradation. In the long process of evolution, they can control a special bioelectric field to analyze the situation of prey nearby. If the target escapes, they can track it within a 10-kilometer radius. We developed this technology based on this characteristic."

Listening to the old man's explanation, Thea understood it in terms of gaming terms. It was somewhat similar to a hunter marking targets, always visible on the map as long as the person was alive! Quite advanced! Could she make use of this invention herself?

The old doctor saw Thea's enthusiastic listening and was also pleased. Among the senior executives of the company, this young lady showed the most appreciation for their work. After all, their team had been researching for many years and had produced many results, but in terms of making money for the company, it was a joke. At least he couldn't see how these researches could contribute to the national economy. He had always felt guilty about this towards the company.

"This is an underwater illumination device. The devices on the market can only illuminate up to 100 meters, while ours can maintain a range of 500 meters."

"This is a miniature missile, with both ground and air capabilities. Although the size has been reduced, the range has also decreased. We are currently improving it."

"This is a disaster relief device that can be remotely controlled at a speed of 400 kilometers per hour, transporting about one meal's worth of supplies."

"This is..."

As the old doctor introduced one after another, Thea was truly amazed. However, many of these things didn't have much commercial value. After looking over them for a long time, she realized that the underwater searchlight could fetch some money, but the purchasing crowd was too small. It could only earn some pocket money, and it would be too difficult to break even.
