Chapter 38

"Hey, rookie, we're ready."

Speedy shouted behind Dio as he watched the jet disappear.

Dio turned and went back to the cafeteria.

Aqualad and Kid Flash are already facing underneath the dart, which was turned to the side.

Robin is on the other side of the dart and looks at him.

"Let's go over the plan once again."

Robin said it seriously.

"Aqualad, Kid Flash, and our new friend will go ahead to secure the path."

Aqualad says.

"After exactly ten minutes, I'll activate the teleporter again, this time taking Speedy and me to provide support."

Robin continued.

Aqualad then took his two weapons from his belt, and the tattoos on his body started to glow.

Kid Flash didn't do anything specific; he just looked at Robin with a smile.

"On three,"

Aqualad said.

"One,"

Robin began to countdown.

"Two."

Before reaching three, Dio whispered his spell softly, and a thin layer of dark energy covered his entire body.

"Three!"

Robin pressed a button on his wrist, and a blue light emitted from the dart, hitting them.

Dio might have passed out for a second. This was a different sensation from using shadow travel.

One moment, he was standing, and the next, he was lying in a small pod with no in-between.

The capsule was filled with smoke—some kind of gas—but with his invulnerability still active, he was safe.

It's getting hard to maintain this spell, so he punched the green glass in the capsule and destroyed it.

He could break and pull the glass away with a little more force. After that, he got out of the box and canceled his spell.

When his feet touched the ground, he already had his sword in his hand and looked around cautiously.

Luckily, this place seems to be empty.

Dio was in a massive chamber, five meters tall and over ten meters wide.

There are only other pods like his, which are lined up in several rows, and the whole area is straight.

The floor and walls of the ship were silver, and the dim lighting wasn't a problem for him.

After making sure he was alone, he tried to find his new friends, but none of them had left their pods, which meant their natural protections didn't work.

It doesn't take long for him to find them; they are in the pods beside him. The first one he helped was Aqualad.

Dio hit the glass with the hilt of his sword and shattered it.

Then he grabbed Aqualad, pulled him out of the pod, and laid him on the ground.

Dio did all this while holding his breath to avoid exposure to the gas inside the capsule.

Dio left Aqualad lying on the floor; it will take a little time for him to wake up. Then he moves to help Kid Flash.

After going through the same process with Kid Flash's pod, he placed them both on the floor and faced the only door in the room.

He put his hand on their foreheads and spoke aloud.

"Ξύπνα!"

(Wake up!)

As if they'd received an electric shock, they both jumped up from the floor, wide-eyed, and scanned their surroundings.

It took a few seconds for them to fully wake up and calm down a bit.

"Thank you for saving us, my friend."

Aqualad said and understood what happened.

"Wow, so we're really on the mothership,"

Kid Flash said this and looked around. He then ran around the room before returning to where he started.

"So?"

Aqualad asked.

"I saw all the pods, and most of them are empty, and humans occupy the others."

Kid Flash replied.

"How many?"

Dio asked.

"Thirty, of different ages and genders."

"That complicates things a bit. I didn't think there were so many."

Dio remark.

"We can't wake them up, and protecting thirty people is very difficult."

Aqualad also understood the problem.

"What do we do?"

Kid Flash asked.

Aqualad stopped talking and contemplated. Dio already knew what they could do to save everyone.

"We'll take control of the ship,"

Dio said to them, which surprised them all.

"Yes, it's the only thing we can do to save everyone."

Aqualad agreed with him, and Kid Flash has no reason to disagree.

"We'll wait for the others first,"

Aqualad suggested it and sat on the floor in front of the only door.

So they wait one minute, two, and finally ten minutes pass.

Aqualad, who was watching the door in front of them like the rest of them, turned to Kid Flash and said.

"Kid, could you..."

Before he could finish, Kid Flash had already jumped up, crossed the entire room, and returned.

"No new arrivals in the pods,"

Kid Flash reports.

"Robin isn't the type to be late."

Aqualad said to them

"We'll wait a few more minutes; maybe the teleporter beam malfunctioned, and he needs time to fix it."

Kid Flash suggested.

So they wait for another five minutes, and there is still no sign of Robin or the idiot.

"Something must have happened to the dart; we can't wait any longer."

Dio told them.

Aqualad stood up, drew his two weapons, and his tattoos started to glow.

From a silver bag attached to his back, the water emerges, forming two swords.

"He's right,"

Aqualad said this to Kid Flash, who was already in a running position behind them.

Dio also grabbed his sword and shield, ready for battle.

"Who's going to have the honor?"

Kid Flash asked.

"I think our new friend should have that honor."

Dio didn't disagree with them and ran toward the door in front of him.

When he was just a few meters away from it, he leaped towards it with his shield raised.

"BOOOOM!"

The doors, which are made of an unknown metal, can't take the force of his blow and blow forward, starting the attack.

On the other side of the door, there was a long, wide corridor as big as the room they were in.

"WE'RE TAKING THIS SHIP, YOU BASTARDS!"

Kid Flash shouted after appearing at his side.

Four humanoid forms appear in front of them from the other end of the corridor.

They all held weapons similar to rifles and wore white suits with futuristic helmets of the same color covering their faces.

Aqualad appeared on his other side and looked at their enemies.

"Let's go!"

Aqualad shouts as he charges, and they follow him.

This must be a battle focused on speed. If they give the enemy time to regroup, they'll need help fighting on their turf.

So, Dio didn't hold back and teleport in front of the first enemy.

When he appeared in front of him, he lowered his body to dodge the red energy blast from his weapon and struck with his sword, cutting it in half.

Then he kicked his helmet with all his strength and sent it flying.

Dio's teleport was slightly faster than Kid Flash's.

When Dio looked to the side, he saw him approaching another enemy and punching him in the head, forcing him to fall to the ground.

While Kid Flash dealt with the second enemy, Dio was already on the third.

This one managed to shoot accurately at Dio.

Dio didn't dodge but placed his sword in front of its body at the right angle and redirected the energy blast precisely where he wanted, hitting the fourth enemy directly in his weapon.

When Dio saw the third enemy, he cut its weapon again and then hit its helmet with the handle of his sword, which knocked it to the ground.

The helmet dented but didn't break, and the enemy tried to get up, but Dio kicked him again and broke its helmet.

Aqualad, who is the slowest of them all, finally gets to his enemy, who isn't armed.

He changes one of his swords into a hammer and hits the last enemy in the face very hard.

"That was simply incredible!"

Kid Flash cheered.

While he celebrated, Dio focused his attention on the second enemy he knocked down with his helmet destroyed, and it was easy to remove it, revealing his enemy.

Dio must admit he was quite surprised because his enemy clearly had four limbs like any human, but he certainly wasn't human.

Instead, he resembled a lizard, with a spherical skull like a human but an elongated jaw like an alligator, and his skin was yellow and wrinkled.

"This is definitely an alien, my first alien!"

Kid Flash exclaimed and looked at the lizard's face.

"You've seen aliens before, Kid Flash, like Superman, for example."

Aqualad said this while also staring at the alien.

"He looks too human in appearance to give me the feeling I'm having now."

Kid Flash responded passionately.

"Tup! Tup! Tup!"

The dim lights in the corridor started to flicker, and a low alarm noise began to sound throughout the ship.

"We've been discovered,"

Aqualad said it without panicking.
