Chapter 31

Diana grabbed Dio and began to fly at high speed. She went even faster when they left the city and reached the ocean.

She controlled her speed to avoid causing damage to the city, but over the ocean, her speed easily broke the speed of sound.

While it wasn't bad for his body, it was awful for his ears.

When she broke the speed of sound, he wasn't prepared, and he couldn't hear for a few minutes.

They got to a forest at the end of their flight. It was different from any forest he had seen in his two lives.

It looked very old like no one had ever been there before. The magical energy in this place was four times stronger than in the city.

Diana didn't say anything during the trip or when they arrived. Dio followed her silently through the forest.

It didn't take long for them to arrive at their destination. The entrance was right in the middle of a millennium-old tree.

Diana approached and pushed aside the vines that covered the view of the entrance, and she entered. Dio followed immediately.

He was surprised to find a stone staircase.

"Are you ready?"

Diana asked again before entering.

"Of course,"

Dio said to her while pulling his sword and shield.

"Then let's go."

They walked slowly through the place.

Dio was quite sure they were in another dimension because he couldn't see how excavating such a vast location would be possible.

There weren't many people around, and the only signs of Greek statues were a few broken stones here and there.

"It's time for me to get some information about this place, Diana."

Dio asked her.

"This is the Labyrinth of Daedalus, a living place full of dangers."

Diana finally replied.

"Are you going to make me fight the Minotaur?"

Dio asked again.

Dio knew a lot about Greek tales and legends as he was Greek.

He knew that the Cretan Labyrinth, also called Daedalus' Labyrinth, was made to contain the Minotaur, a monster with the body of a man and the head and tail of a bull.

"That Minotaur died a long time ago, but the labyrinth continues."

Then she started running toward an arch-shaped opening in front of them.

"Let's go, we have to be agile,"

Diana shouted.

Dio also started running towards the entrance and stayed two meters away from Diana.

He knew this was his test, but going ahead of her to prove how much he had grown could lead to a terrible result.

As soon as they passed through the stone arch, the attack began.

It was four meters high Minotaurs made of pure stone that came out of the walls and hit them.

He jumped back to avoid being hit by the two in front of him.

Dio placed his sword on his back; it wasn't a magical weapon or made of any special material, so if he used it to cut stone, there was a chance of losing his weapon.

Looking to the side, Diana was already fighting, and he saw her hit one of the stone monsters in the chin.

The stone Minotaur in front of him tried to grab him, but Dio teleported above its head and kicked its face with all his strength.

The stone cracked but didn't break.

While still in the air, he looked to the side and saw a stone hand coming towards him.

Dio rotated his body, and the stone hand grabbed his shield. He let go of it, fell to the ground, and faced the second stone.

"BAMM!"

Then one of the stone monsters that was fighting Diana was thrown into the one in front of Dio.

"Run!"

Diana said to him and then turned and started running.

Dio followed her after picking up his fallen shield.

One of the stones Minotaurs stood in front of him and tried to grab him. He sped up and fell backward, sliding on the stone floor and passing under its legs.

On the other side, he stood up and ran away, leaving their enemies behind.

The four stone attackers turned into dust on the ground after they ran a few meters.

"The goal of the test is to reach the end of the labyrinth, not to defeat its creations."

Diana said while running ahead of him.

'She was right.'

Dio had been seeing it as if it were an RPG game, where to advance to the next level and needed to defeat the boss on the floor.

They continued running on the stone floor, and then he heard a small sound with his super hearing.

It was the sound of a bowstring being pulled.

Dio was used to this sound; Diana had trained him to dodge arrows using a bow first.

"Be careful!"

Diana yelled.

There were hundreds of arrows being fired at the same time from both sides of the area.

He carefully avoided the arrows that were aimed at him and ignored others, which was hard to do because there were so many of them.

This situation worsened when the straight path ahead turned into rough terrain with many rocks scattered throughout the place, making it hard to see the arrows.

However, he was able to hide behind this terrain, and when he couldn't get away, he used his shield to protect himself while maintaining his speed.

"Jump!"

Diana yelled in front of him.

Once again, she helped him. He had been so focused on the arrows that he didn't notice the rift in front of him.

He jumped over the edge, which was about ten meters wide.

On the other side of the rift, they found themselves facing a Greek temple with two entrances.

The first one was well-maintained for an abandoned place, and there were torches on the walls that lit up the whole path.

The second path was different from the first.

It was covered in pure darkness, but Dio could easily see the way.

The entrance was a perfect replica of the other, the only difference being the lighting.

"Which way? Towards the darkness or the light?"

Diana asked from his side.

"You've been here before, so you should choose."

Dio replied.

"The labyrinth changes with each visit."

Diana responded.

'Of course, it changes.'

'Now, which path to choose? I would have gone down the dark path if I were alone. The darkness is on my side, and the risks I'd face there wouldn't really hurt me if they used darkness to fight.'

'But I'm not alone. Diana may be trained to fight without her vision, but it would reduce her abilities.'

"Let's go towards the light."

Dio decided.

Diana smiled at him and continued running down the light path, and he followed her.

The path isn't very wide—only a few meters.

The entire structure is made of large white stones, with small torches above the walls lighting the way.

They both walk slowly this time, so as not to set off any traps.

"BAMM!"

Then the ceiling above them opened, and several people fell in front of them.
