17 Chapter 16

They approached the back door of the house, and Diana lightly knocked.

"Knock! Knock!"

After a couple of seconds, the door opened.

"Diana, you're early; come in, dear."

Dio stood behind Diana, so he couldn't see who was speaking, but it was a gentle female voice. Diana accepted the invitation and entered the house, with him following her.

While they were walking through the house, Dio noticed many old things that were scattered around. The walls and shelves in the hallway they went through were full of weapons, tools, and even coins.

"So, this is the special child you told me about, Diana. Perhaps you'll introduce us?"

When they entered the living room, the female voice caught my attention again.

She sat on the couch, and Diana and Dio sat on another couch opposite her.

"Diomedes, this is Julia Kapatelis, an excellent archaeologist and my friend."

Diana introduced him to this woman.

The woman in front of him said, "Pleasure to meet you, Diomedes."

In front of him was a middle-aged woman with a kind smile, and this time, Dio hoped she wasn't a wolf hiding like a sheep like Ma Gunn.

The lady had short, light-colored hair that reached her chin. She was fair-skinned, slightly thin, wearing silver glasses, gold earrings in her ears, and a necklace around her neck.

"Nice to meet you, Mrs. Kapatelis, and thank you for allowing me to stay in your home."

Dio thanked her as politely as he could.

"What a polite young man! I'm very pleased, Diomedes. I assure you, I'll do everything I can to make you feel comfortable in my home."

Dio's polite introduction seemed to have earned him some points in Julia's eyes.

'That's good for me; there's no need to create a tense situation or conflict with the homeowner where I'm staying.'

"Julia was the one who helped me the most when I came to the world of mortals. She taught me a lot and helped me adapt to this new world. I know that awakening your abilities late has made things different for you, but I think Julia can help you with that."

Diana explained.

Diana and Dio had similar origins, but their beginnings were different. She was a divine being who had to adapt to the mortal world after leaving her home.

Dio was just a mortal who now had to adjust to his divine nature. This would have been hard for any other child, but he just accepted it.

The memories of his past life helped him a lot.

"Diana appreciated me by accepting my help, and in assisting her, I learned a lot."

Julia said.

Diana introduced herself as an archaeologist, and judging by her Greek name and the various artifacts he saw as they walked to the room, he understood why she enjoyed having Diana as a friend.

To be honest, Dio didn't mind being a part of her research and getting a place to live in return.

"You probably want to see your room. Come with me, and after you settle in, we can have some food to eat."

Julia said, stood up, and led them to the front part of the house, where the staircase to the second floor was located.

Diana and Dio followed her, and as they went upstairs to the second floor, he saw a teenage girl ahead, dressed in a black rocker jacket.

She had a punk-style hairstyle with pink hair, and he didn't see her face as she heard us and walked away down the corridor.

"This is my daughter, Vanessa,"

Julia introduced the girl to me.

Vanessa didn't even turn around. She opened a door in the corridor on the floor, entered, and slammed it shut loudly.

"I'm sorry that it turned out this way. This child lost her manners when she entered her teenage years.

Julia said this without being offended or irritated by her daughter's behavior.

"No need to apologize; I remember being quite wild in my teenage years too."

Diana said.

When this brief conversation ended, Dio almost yelled at both of them.

It was clear that this wasn't a hormonal issue or the infamous teenage phase; the girl was clearly trying to get attention.

It had started not too long ago. If this continues, it could turn into a disaster, but for now, let's put it aside and focus on the task at hand.

"This will be your room. Why don't you go in and get settled, and we'll both go back downstairs?"

Julia said this and pointed to one of the doors in the corridor.

"Thank you, Mrs. Kapatelis,"

Dio thanked her again.

"Call me Julia, dear, or I feel old and frail."

Julia said, and she and Diana began to go down to the first floor.

When they left, Dio entered his new room, which was opposite Vanessa's room with skulls and a "Do Not Disturb" sign.

It was easy for him to hear the loud metal music she was playing, which she probably had on through headphones.

One of the hardest things for him was controlling his super hearing. He hadn't completely mastered it yet, but he was able to block out the sound with a little focus.

Dio's new bedroom was very simple, a bed, a wardrobe for clothes, a bookshelf, and a desk.

What struck him the most was the group of books on the bookshelf; Dio had to study them in his free time.

It was a small room, but for a child who had slept in a crowded room with many other kids, it was a little piece of heaven.

After placing his few belongings in the wardrobe, he went downstairs again and saw Diana standing by the staircase.

"You're leaving already?"

Dio asked her.

"I've been waiting for you. We both need to visit another place."

She replied with a smile.

"What about Mrs. Julia?"

Dio asked, as he didn't see the host.

"We're all having dinner together tonight to celebrate your arrival. She went to prepare it. But for now, I want to introduce you to someone, and I think you'll want to see your new training ground."

Dio wasn't very excited about meeting new people, but the word "training" won him over.

They went out through the back door and flew away from the house at high speed.

They didn't have to leave the capital to reach their destination.

It was a giant building perched high on a cliff overlooking the ocean.

It was more than ten stories tall, all made of blue glass, with no markings or logos that would allow him to recall it.

However, he was sure it wasn't the League of Justice's building.

Diana landed on the roof of the building, which had marked spots, obviously for the takeoff and landing of planes parked nearby.

There were many people in pilot suits around, but Diana landed in front of a specific man who stood still and looked at us.
