Chapter 97: Zod mission.

POV Zod

My lord ordered me to collect the strange green stones that appear to be remnants of ancient Krypton. Looking at the report he sent me, I could understand why he was so serious; these stones that are made from the remains of the planet Krypton are very dangerous. They had the ability to weaken a Kryptonian that was bathed in the light of a yellow sun. Basically, if a Kryptonian approaches this stone unprotected, the Kryptonian goes from a godlike existence to a fragile mortal being...

Seeing the size of the responsibility my lord placed on my shoulders, I could not fail; I gathered some of my best men and set off towards Earth in search of these stones. I know our Lord does not intend to show himself to humans now and, as these barbarians do not yet have very advanced technology, we can collect some of these stones that were in the possession of humans quite easily.

I had separated the group I had assembled into three squads, each group had a leader who was calm and rational in thought; they were the warriors I trusted the most after my former subordinate Faora Hu-Ul.

...

I managed to complete the task given to me in less than two days. Soon, I found myself in the Arctic looking at a pile of green stones that I had collected from all over planet Earth; Ursa my subordinate approached me and asked:

"What does our lord intend to do with these stones?" She said as she adjusted the armor she was wearing. Now that she was away from the rocks, she could take off her helmet; just like me and my Lord, Ursa also managed to master her gifts.

"To study, understand, and possibly destroy these stones." I spoke neutrally.

Ursa raises her eyebrow and asks, "Why aren't you sure he's going to destroy these stones?"

"The arrival of Kara Zor-El from the other universe changed our sire's perspective; these stones are an efficient means of killing any Kryptonians that are a threat to our sire. But, that's just my thinking, and I may just be overthinking the matter. After all, our 'god' is not such a weak being that he would be afraid of some normal Kryptonians." I commented in a low tone.

I knew Rao, I trained him after all, and I know he's going to keep some of these stones in storage to deal with Kryptonian threats. Why do I know that? It's quite simple, I would have done the same...

If I had been in Rao's position I would have saved some as well; as proved with Kara Zor-El, there are other universes that may have enemy Kryptonians. It is possible that there is also an alternate version of my friend's son in one of these realities.

But... with Rao's current power level, I seriously doubt he needs to worry about normal Kryptonians. I think he'll leave these stones for his generals to use, and he'll create an alternative means for me or Non to use these materials.

Hearing something penetrating Earth's atmosphere, Ursa and I look up. Following my lead, all my subordinates peer up to the sky, and soon we could see our king approaching. He was wearing black armor with black themes and, as standard for Kryptonian armor, it had a black cloak that rippled as it moved through the air. [A/N: I'm not a fan of Cloaks or anything like that, but they're quite useful for anyone flying in the sky, and for some reason, Kryptonian standard armor has Cloak, blame the original creator]

Our lord slowed down, and soon he was standing in the air as he looked at the pile of green stones; he was just standing there, but the sight of our Lord holding the Sword of Olympus as his long red hair fluttered in the wind was a very inspiring sight.

Rao looks at me and flashes a small smile: "I knew I could count on you, General Zod." For some reason, I felt immense pride when he spoke those words.

"Good job everyone," Rao said as he looked at the Kryptonians around me. I could tell they had the same feelings as me, they were proud to complete the work that was specifically designated to them by their king.

"Anyone injured?" Rao asked.

"No injuries, we were careful when approaching these stones and we bolstered our armor with some extra layers of protection; because of that, we didn't have any casualties"

"Good" Rao lets go of his sword and soon it starts to float around him; he slowly approaches me and speaks out loud: "Soon, my wife's duel with the goddess Amaterasu will happen, I want everyone of the Kryptonians present fully armed"

"Isn't that kind of risky? After all, we are still enemies." I asked.

"Yes, but we need to demonstrate that we're not worried about it." He clicks a few buttons on his armor's wrist, and soon we all receive our orders.

Looking at the orders I received, I nodded my head satisfied. As expected from the little monster; he already foresaw this situation and created several emergency plans.

"Soon a small fleet of Kryptonian ships will descend from space and collect all these stones, they will be taken to the dark side of the moon to a research base I created. This base will be temporary since New Krypton will be completed soon"

Hearing Rao talking about New Krypton, all the men and women present could not help but feel proud. Finally, our planet will be revived and this time our race will be stronger than the old Krypton empire.

Rao looked at us and flashed a small smile, it seems that nothing escapes from his senses and he seems to be getting stronger at a rather frightening rate. He appears to be one that has no limit, as expected of the monster created by Krypton. [A/N: for some reason, I'm feeling a Demiurge from Zod vibe]
