2 Chapter 2: The destruction of a civilization.

A blue world, a world in which I was alone, a world in which I was instinctively afraid, as I opened my eyes on the first day of my life.

It was very rare for a baby to remember everything that happened on the first day of their life, but just because it is 'rare' to happen does not mean that it is impossible.

I remember everything. I remember the cold water surrounding my little body. I remember the irritating noise of the respirator that allowed me to live under the water, the expectant looks of the scientists who created me, and the annoying A.I. that taught me several things about Kryptonian society.

I did not understand anything about my situation. Still, with time and information provided to me by the A.I., I could understand something, I was created to become the 'emperor' of my race.

"The emperor is above the people, someone who guides and reigns over the people." The A.I. explained it to me while passing several images in front of me.

A.I. never told me why I had to be the emperor. Like many other children, I was born with a 'purpose' given to me as a baby.

This learning experience with A.I. lasted until the first years of my life when my body was big enough, I left the tube where I was held, and I taken to the people who would be my 'parents'.

Krypton is a suffocating planet; that was my opinion when I understood the society of that planet.

The technological advancement of the planet was so advanced that Kryptonians who had free will were not necessary.

With this mindset, the upper echelons of the Krypton government began to produce children from its technology. That technology raised even me.

But unlike those kids who are programmed to serve Krypton, I was born with free will. I never understood why they didn't brainwash me. After all, I have enormous potential.

A suffocating society, a society governed by artificial intelligence that the planet's inhabitants themselves have created, a society in which individuals themselves have stopped thinking, a society in which all individuals are cold and stoic.

In a society where all people are cold, the gentle actions of my policy professor Alura In-Ze surprised me.

I never saw any Kryptonian show kindness to another Kryptonian, but Alura did this naturally as if it were normal.

She was an outstanding teacher ...

Krypton was a planet that had a flawed society. I thought I was created to change that; I thought I was created to alter Krypton's society.

But that future never came true ...

While I was sitting in a commander's chair on one of the spaceships General Zod stole, I looked at the image of the planet Krypton destroying itself.

The feeling across the ship was heavy; even though the Kryptonians are a cold race, their love for Krypton was real.

The purest show of love for our planet can be found on this ship, Kryptonians who were cold and stoic, wept silently at the destruction of their homeland.

I looked at the woman who was standing next to me.

Faora Hu-Ul, a member of the Krypton military, a woman who despised Krypton's ideal of peace and science, she was a woman who wanted Krypton to return to the old days when Krypton was a brutal and militaristic empire. A woman with a great experience of war, a woman who defended Krypton. Still, because of the old men who craved peace, she and General Zod were condemned to the Phantom Zone, who shared the same ideals.

'How can Krypton condemn his war hero?' That was my thought when I heard about it.

That same woman who fought all wars for Krypton, this woman who even with her injured body, fought for Krypton, was now crying silently beside me.

These tears proved something; these tears will prove that even the most fearless warrior, betrayed by her race, and branded as a traitor, still loved Krypton.

It would be unthinkable that a proud and bloodthirsty woman could make that expression on her face

—a sad and helpless expression at seeing your home planet explode.

I looked at the fragments of my planet.

Fragments that were once an advanced civilization now roamed the cosmos.

Krypton exploded, and no one in the universe came to help the race evacuate its inhabitants; of the more than 30 Billion Kryptonians, only 2000 survived.

Historical Monuments, technology, children, the elderly, men, women everything was lost.

At least almost everything, me and 2000 Kryptonians, were saved. With Codex, I will make a Kryptonian empire superior to what it was before, but that destiny is still a long way off. I don't even know if I'll be alive when that happens.

After a great moment of silence, I see the faces of my people hopeless. I cannot let this happen.

"Krypton ..." I rose from my commander's chair in a heavy voice, "Krypton is not dead."

I looked at each of the living Kryptonians. I waited for everyone to look at me. I knew I had to give hope to my people; if they have no hope, I will not be able to rebuild Krypton.

"Krypton, a civilization with more than 10 billion years of history, would not be killed just with our home planet destroyed." Unlike other races in the universe, Kryptonians are a logical and cold race. It does not mean that we have no feelings; our feelings have been suppressed by society; we started to use logic more than feeling.

To be a good ruler, I have to understand my people. That was the lesson that my politics teacher, who is now dead, told me.

I always kept these teachings in my head; now, it's time to use those teachings.

For you to convince a Kryptonian, you have to use logic. "Yes, we are not even 1% of our original population. Yes, our planet was blown up, and now we are homeless, but I ask you, so what? "

Seeing the anger slowly appearing on the faces of the Kryptonians, I smiled. It seems that the feeling of nationalism is still strong. "I am going to tell you a story from thousands of years ago."

I got up high. "Kryptonians in the past were just slaves," my words seems to surprise several Kryptonians, the only ones who were not surprised was General Zod.

As a high ranking General, he has access to restricted Krypton information. Of course, the cost of that information was silence.

As I was raised to be the emperor, I had access to all the information on my planet, and I remember every piece of information that I studied, those were the benefits of having a perfect brain.

Since Krypton is no more, I can easily tell you information that would have me expelled to the Phantom Zone before.

"A long time ago, in an era forgotten by our society ... Kryptonians were slaves; they were taken and treated like laboratory rats, by a scientist." I look at every face of my people, and I can see a look of disbelief behind their stoic face.

"One day, that same scientist let his guard down, the Kryptonians of the time took this opportunity to kill the scientist."

My smile grows when I see my people looking at me, waiting for me to finish my story.

"With just 10 Kryptonians, our ancestors created a civilization that rivaled the greatest civilizations in this universe." I smile when I see my people's fulfilling eyes, I didn't even need to explain much, and they understood what I was trying to convey.

"Krypton is not dead until the last Kryptonian dies, our civilization will never die." It was a simple speech; it was a speech without fervor. It was a logical speech that agreed with the Kryptonians.

I hit my chest. "I was raised to be the Krypton emperor. I was raised with the best genes of our race. You can even say that I am the son of Krypton."

I leave the place where I was and walked to the ship's commander chair, "As long as I live, I will do everything possible and impossible to revive our race's glory." I sit in the commander's chair and look at each one.

I take a comfortable position and rest my hand on my chin. "With your help, Krypton will be reborn ... And I will build an empire that will last for several ages."

"Will you help me!?" There was no shout; there was no applause; they just nodded determinedly in their eyes.

Kryptonians are an intelligent race. You don't build a space civilization by being a dumb race. We don't need to act like barbarians to understand what we should do.

The emperor is someone who leads and shows the way to his people, I showed them the way, and I will lead them; all they have to do is follow me.

"I want a damage report! I need to know what we have managed to save from our planet. You must make a list and put your name and the occupation you were responsible for in Krypton. "

"Yes, Sir!"

...

Faora Hu-Ul was looking at the man who was sitting in the commander's chair. "You made a good speech." She praised it sincerely.

In fact, it was a good speech; this man knows how Kryptonians think, they are intelligent people, they don't need emotional speeches, they need a clear goal, and this man has given everyone a goal.

...

"Thank you."

"Emperor, here are the damage reports." General Zod, who was on my left, said as he sent the data to my personal computer.

I look at the hologram in front of me and evaluate the resources we currently have.

"General Zod, why do we have more warriors?"

"Sir, you asked me to evacuate the people I trusted most."

I put my hand on my head as if I had a headache.

Of the 2000 thousand surviving Kryptonians, only 500 are civilians, and we have a crew of two spaceships, the other spaceship being empty ...

1500 Kryptonians are experienced warriors; the warrior group consists of 500 women and 1000 men.

By the way, the remaining 500 are women civilians ...

What the hell am I going to do with just warriors !? If I wanted to be a space pirate, that was the best result, but I need to rebuild civilization!

To rebuild a civilization, you need engineers and builders! I need scientists too!

Wait ... General Zod's subordinates aren't just any Kryptonians; they're the best in their field. You can't be a military man if you don't have a minimum of knowledge about medicine in other areas.

This knowledge is not specialized, but it is advanced enough compared to other races.

"General Zod, why do we have an empty ship?"

"Sir, I stole the ship because you asked, but I had a few people who supported me."

... How can you make a coup if you have few people? You are the general of Krypton; you should have more supporters.

Oh, I told people that you trust them most, right? It seems that he took my orders faithfully.

The people he met were the people he trusted the most, and the people he abandoned were the people he didn't trust.

I think it was a mistake to give those orders to General Zod. I should have assessed the situation better because I could save more people who would be useful in rebuilding Krypton because of my mistake.

I could have saved my teacher ...

I even tried to look for my teacher, but I didn't know where she was; I even tried to look for her at her house, but it was all empty, I couldn't find her daughter either.

There's no point in repenting now ...

Changing the page, I see the resource report.

"We have a few people, but we have a lot of resources, huh?" I commented to myself when I looked at the amount of money, food, and weapons I had.

"General Zod, how many incubators do we have?"

Incubators are where Kryptonians are created, as I have Codex in my blood, I could easily make new Kryptonians with these incubators; it can be said that this is essential technology I have today. It is much more important than the weapons and money. After all, it is with this technology that I will be able to increase the numbers of Kryptonians.

"I manage to steal ten incubators, sir."

The time for a Kryptonian to mature is one year. When he leaves the incubator, he is able to walk, and reason, the smart ones like me would be awake during the whole maturing process, but this is very rare to happen.

"10 Kryptonian babies a year, huh?" This is not bad; I will use those civilian women as 'mothers' of these babies.

"Did you manage to save Krypton's story?"

"Yes, I digitized the entire story available on a crystal, so those future generations will learn about Krypton."

"Good."

Looking at the energy report, I realize that our two ships only fuel a Hyperspace jump.

"Why do we have so little fuel?"

"Sir, we didn't have time to supply the new ships."

I see I don't blame Zod, I know that it takes a day to supply a spacecraft, this is a very short period normally, but in a situation where the planet is exploding, that time has become very long.

"Which solar system has a yellow star that is closest?" I ask while undoing the report, do I already have an idea of what I should do.

"Sir, the closest solar systems that contain a yellow star are sectors 2814, 3000, and 3500."

It seems that I have a destiny.
