3 Chapter 3: Skyrim is that you? part 1

[Third Person Point Of View]

The Campbell family was once renowned as a great if not the greatest magician family in all of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland. Their fame surpassed even the likes of Merlin; due to their fame, they were sought by many lords including King Arthur himself.

They possessed knowledge and magical powers so great that they decided it would be best for the world if no faction had their power and thus became neutral. This was possible due to their strength to fend off the factions that did not agree with their decision.

The smarter factions were fine with that as they mostly wanted the knowledge and power of the Campbell family so that their enemies would not have it. The Campbell family started to become a symbol of neutrality and were sought in the event a peace talk on neutral ground was needed.

Those were prosperous times for the Campbell family but that did not last forever, when the witch hunt started all around the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, the majority of the magic community thought it was the perfect occasion to obtain the secrets of the Campbell family.

They each secret schemed on their own, guided and helped the witch hunt towards the Campbell Family, forcing the decline of such a renowned family. The loyal retainers of the Campbell family that survived the hunt decided to move to a new continent to avoid their pursuers.

They changed their names as they fled with everything, their masters owned that was linked to magic and faked their deaths, leaving the greedy sorcerers and magicians that had caused their downfall to fight over their fortune due to thinking that the others had managed to obtain the secrets of the Campbells.

The greedy sorcerers and magicians only entertained the possibility that some of the Campbells had survived for a brief moment, but they never had enough peace of mind to go further than that as their competitors would attempt and some occasions succeed in using the witch hunt to cause the fall of another family of sorcerers.

The retainers who carry the self-imposed mission to "carry the will of the Campbell family" took upon the name of Mikk as their household name in the event they would need to use it. They made a new home isolated from the world in America in the place that would later be known as National City.

When the Europeans started to colonize America, the Mikk infiltrated the Colonizer and started to live among the people as a way to better hide themselves, hiding in plain sight as one might describe it. It took two generations to infiltrate the community.

All they had to do was take the place of a man named Nicolas Grant who had a "daughter" who married a native who changed his name to Francis Mikk in order to marry her as that was the condition that "Nicolas Grant" had put forth.

The Mikk family little by little became a core part of the community they were into the point that they went from farm family to mayor family to an influential and rich family that was known across America. From then on, a saying was created due to another family rising in prominence.

~The Mikk to the West and the Waynes to the East. ~

There were of course other prominent families, but none were as renowned as those two. This sparked a rivalry between both families that continued through generations. This rivalry became well known to the point that later down the generations.

The Ark and WayneCorp competed against each other as they supplied the weapons, ships, and aircraft that aided the war effort in World War Two. While The Wayne Family took a backseat in the world of weapon making after World War Two, the Mikk family started monopolizing it.

They started making deals with the military and became even more influential in the Country. They knew state secrets and much more as they were privy to them showing how far their influence could reach. The Mikk family's decision caused the rivalry with the Wayne family to turn sour.

This was around the time the Luthor family started to rise to power. They made sure to center themselves in Metropolis where the influence of the other two was low. There was quite a lot of controversy that claimed the Mikk Family had a part in the murder of Thomas and Martha Wayne.

The reasons mostly differed per conspiracy, but a few reasons kept appearing such as Nathaniel and Elizabeth Mikk's inability to naturally conceive a child or the assassination being a ploy to obtain the fortune of the Waynes.

Those rumors were frequent but not permanent as they faded once the culprit was found, a man going by the name Joe Chill. Nathaniel and Elizabeth came to Thomas and Martha's funeral to give their condolences to the dead couple's ten-year-old son, Bruce Wayne.

The Luther Family did not rise to prominence as easily as the Mikk and the Wayne. It was only once a certain Alexander "Lex" Luthor took over the family company that the Luthor name became comparable to the Mikk and the Wayne.

After the death of his parents, young Bruce vowed to spend the rest of his life waging war on criminals and left Gotham to study and train under various masters around the world, honing his mind and body for his mission.

Upon returning to Gotham in his mid-20s, Bruce was inspired by the image of a bat to become the dread vigilante superhero, Batman. Bruce uses his considerable resources and technology from Wayne Enterprises to aid in this war on crime, while mostly maintaining the image of a bored playboy in the interest of protecting his identity and the safety of those around him.

Dick Grayson was a twelve-year-old circus acrobat, the youngest of a family act called The Flying Graysons of The Haley Circus. Dick joined the act at a very young age, having been trained in acrobatics from birth. While on tour in Gotham City, he overheard "Boss" Tony Zucco, a well-known and feared crime lord, threaten the performers unless the circus's owner paid extortion money.

The owner refused, and that night Dick watched in horror as his parents' high wire snapped, sending his parents hurtling to their deaths, all while many of Gotham's elite watched on. Young Dick felt responsible because he didn't warn his parents in time.

Shortly after the tragedy, Dick was placed in an uncaring juvenile services system, on the grounds that social services were full. He got beaten up by several of the inmates, and he was later sent to a Catholic orphanage.

After that, Dick Grayson was taken in by Bruce Wayne. Dick wasn't adopted by Bruce, instead only being his ward so that Bruce wouldn't replace his father. This gained the attention of many due to what had happened around twelve years ago.

Nathaniel and Elizabeth Mikk adopted an abandoned baby boy that they had come across during one of their overseas trips. Due to the skin tone of the baby, there was a lot of attention circulating around the Mikk family.

Naturally, due to living in the Wayne Mansion, Dick found out that Batman was Bruce Wayne. Frustrated by the lack of attention from his new guardian and the mystery still surrounding his parents' death, Dick sneaked out of Wayne Manor one evening to solve the crime on his own - only to stumble into Batman, who was also investigating the murder.

When Dick returned to the circus, he was confronted by Zucco's business associate, Eddie Skeevers who nearly killed Grayson, but Dick was saved thanks to Batman's intervention. After waking up in the Batcave, he is shocked to learn that Bruce is really Batman.

They succeed in revealing Zucco's complicity, but he supposedly dies of a heart attack before his arrest. Seeing a reflection of himself in Dick; that he could temper compassion with a thirst for justice, Batman made the young orphan the offer of a lifetime; the chance to become his crime-fighting partner.

Dick chose the name Robin, and his training began. Bruce taught Dick fighting techniques and detective skills for a grueling 6 months. Finally, Dick had to pass a final test - "the Gauntlet". Dick had to elude the Dark Knight on the streets of Gotham for one night - from sunset to sunrise - without any outside help.

Dick succeeded, simultaneously bringing Gotham gangster Joe Minette to justice. Dick took to the streets as Batman's full-fledged partner in crime-fighting: Robin, the Boy Wonder. Dick's first mission alongside the Dark Knight involved battling The Hangman in Gotham's sewers, and then Two-Face and the rest of Batman's Rogues Gallery at the Batcave.

Batman and Robin might have become Gotham's most well-known and greatest heroes, but they were not the only ones in the world. This was what many would call the age of heroes as many super-powered or special individuals had long since made their debut and each protected their respective City.

Some of those heroes banded together when the earth was in danger and after saving it, formed a group now known as the Justice League. To many, the Justice League is an organization comprised of the world's greatest superheroes, though some's origins are extra-terrestrial.

Together, they operate as a team dedicated to fighting crime and injustice and act as Earth's first line of defense from terrestrial, extra-terrestrial, and inter-dimensional threats. They are under the charts of the U.N and thus must follow the laws applied to their respective situation that each member face.

The governments of many countries view the situation in a different way. The Justice League is home to the most powerful individuals on the planet, if they ever decide to not respect the U.N charts, no one would be able to hold them accountable save for one of them.

Most of the public thinks that their heroes always do the right thing and inspire people to do the same. The aforementioned Governments prefer to let the public think that. It is their only way to keep the heroes on their self-imposed leash but that does not mean that they are not doing anything about it.

Many different projects and some questionable experiments have been made in preparation for the eventuality that the heroes would turn against Earth such as the Captain Atom Project though that one is a bit special in its own case.

Nathaniel Adam was a United States Air Force officer during the Vietnam War era. He was framed for a crime he didn't commit and sentenced to death under the watch of Col. Wade Eiling in 1968. To avoid execution, he was invited to participate in a military experiment with little chance of survival, with the promise of a presidential pardon should he survive.

The experiment involved testing the hull of a crashed alien ship's durability by exploding a super nuclear bomb under it while Adam was on the ship. Against the odds, Adam survived, the alien metal melding with his body, while the excess energy threw him forward in time nearly twenty years.

Adam found himself a man out of his time and back in the hands of Eiling, now a general and the second husband of Adam's now-deceased wife. Everyone had assumed Adam had died during the experiment, so his presidential pardon was never issued, and the current government refused to acknowledge the previous administration's promise but with a little word from the Mikk, the pardon was granted.

Seeing the opportunity at hand, the Mikk family used Nathaniel's gratitude to influence him into being a government-controlled superhero codenamed Captain Atom. He became one of the first members of the Justice League, excluding the founding members of the League.

It was meant to be the start of a secret weapon that could combat other nations. That however changed when the Justice League was formed and those in charge saw the opportunity to have a man on the inside. They also agreed that a man's gratitude would bring greater loyalty than blackmailing him.

Naturally, the Governments of Earth were not the only ones that had plans to take down the Justice League, many villains felt threatened by the heroes teaming up against them, they decided to take a page of the heroes' book and band together, but most team ups did not last long.

It often ended with one or many betraying the others for their own scheme causing them to lose to the heroes. That said, a few villains succeeded at forming a group as they each had a common goal or interest.

The appearance of the Justice League changed the world in more ways than one, Earth started to gain Alien technology at an increasing speed. Many Technological companies fell behind the new while only a few managed to adapt to the situation such as Ark, LexCorp, and WayneTech.

Speaking of Ark, the company managed by Mikk Family, it has become the leading company among the three regarding technological advancement which to the other two was frustratingly puzzling. WayneTech had access to Alien technology due to Bruce Wayne's connection to the Justice League.

When the Justice League was founded, a lot of companies were interested in investing in it but outside of WayneTech, only a select few such as Queen Industries and Kord Industries were accepted as the League's investors. LexCorp and Ark's offers were refused due to Superman and Batman's respective objections.

Not only Batman, Bruce Wayne was also a public supporter and investor of the Justice League which gave WayneTech the alibi as to why they would have Alien Technologies. LexCorp had access to Alien Technologies due to their relation with the U.S. government but the Mikk Family did not use their deeper ties with the U.S. government to get ahead of the other two companies.

Unlike LexCorp and WayneTech, Ark produced their own inventions such as their latest one, the Arc Reactor, a fusion-type power source that could and is powering the whole National City for the next ten years. It is a massive arc reactor that has become a patent to not the Ark company but the Mikk Family.

Although they do not use their deeper ties with the U.S. government to get ahead of the other two companies, the Mikk sometimes requests Alien material, mostly metal from the Government. Bruce Wayne and Lex Luthor have both investigated that little fact when they were digging into the company.

What they found was that the reason behind the Mikk Family requesting such things is the same as how they were able to make such a massive arc reactor. It was due to the request of Tyki Mikk, Nathaniel, and Elizabeth Mikk's adopted son and the boy who created the Arc Reactor.
