The Kent Family

In a remote part of Kansas lies a cozy little town called Smallville. This town is like any other, filled with hardworking and kind people. But two years ago, this small town made national headlines, but not for reasons to be happy about it.

A meteor shower fell into the town, bringing with it destruction and unrest.

This particular tragedy changed the lives of many people in this town, but while others view this incident as a tragedy for a young couple that was giving up hope, it was a miracle.

Jonathan and Martha were a young couple that, through much opposition from their parents, or, to be more specific, Martha's father, managed to marry with their blessing or at least their approval.

Living now for some years on the farm of the Jonathan family in the outskirts of Smallville, they thought that they were ready to increase their family by having a child of their own, and that's when problems started to appear.

After a couple of months of trying and without result, they searched for the help of the local doctor, and on their last visit to the local doctor, he finally told the young couple the tragic news: infertility.

The couple now going back to their farm was silent in the vehicle—no laughs, no kisses, like they used to nothing but silence and sobs.

Jonathan loves his wife with all his heart, and that's why it hurt more to see Martha sobbing than the tragic news the doctor gave them hours ago.

He could not take it anymore, he said.

"Martha, I love you no matter what; you know that, right?"

Hearing that, Martha broke into tears, and in sobs, she responded.

"I know, Jonathan, I know, but I just wanted to have something that was the fruit of our love."

Hearing that, Jonathan smiled softly and, for a brief moment, took his sight off the road and responded to Martha.

"Silly girl, this is not the end of the world, not of our love. Aside from those who said that we need to have it ourselves to love a baby and be a family, we could just adopt and be the happy family that we both wish for."

When Martha heard that it was as if a heavy weight was lifted from her shoulders and hearth, she started to think and contemplate what her husband told her.

She thought he was right. This is not the end, and we love each other no matter what, so with a lighter heart, she said to Jonathan.

"I love you," Jonathan, still with the sight on the road, responded to Martha.

"And I love you too".

What they didn't know was that an object at that moment was entering the earth's atmosphere.

The object in question was a giant meteor that, in contact with the earth's atmosphere, broke into many parts.

Unfortunately, those parts fell into the small town, and one of those pieces was falling directly into the road that Jonathan and Martha are currently driving.

Jonathan just saw a bright light that fell directly in front of the road.

Stomping on the brakes and extending his arm to Martha's seat, the truck made a screeching noise and came to a total halt.

Martha, with only a little scratch on her forehead, said to Jonathan

"What was that?"

Jonathan only responded.

"I don't know; stay in the truck and don't come out."

Grabbing the handle of the door, he made it outside the truck into the road, or at least what was left of it after all.

He could only see smoke and a huge crater, which he assumed was the result of something falling very fast into the ground, but to say what, well, he has no idea.

"Curiosity kills the cat."

That's the saying that Jonathan was thinking right now, but he needed to know what happened here.

After all, it's close to his and Martha's farm, so to kill his fear and anxiety, he slid very carefully into the crater.

Reaching the bottom was easier than he thought it would be. After all, it looks huge, but it was only a couple of inches below the ground.

It was there that he found something that made him remember a question that he made to his parents when he was a child: Is there really life on other planets? Well, after many years, he finally got his answer.

In front of Jonathan was some sort of metallic vessel, tightly shut.

When he thought about how to explain this to Martha and the police that it would eventually come, the vessel started to make sounds like something was opening from the inside.

Martha was waiting inside the truck, but when she started to hear sounds that came from the crater, she could not stay inside anymore.

Grabbing the handle of the door and stepping into the road, she approached the crater, only to see a bright light and hear the crying of something or someone.

Jonathan could not believe what he is seeing right now in front of him—what he believed to be an alien vessel open up followed by a bright light, and inside of it instead of what he believed to be alien life, instead it was only a small child covered in some sort of fabric with a big S on top of it.

The first thing he did was open his eyes and start to cry loudly.

Martha slid into the crater only to see her husband making a complicated face and staring at something in the metallic vessel, which was crying.

She could not see because he was blocking the view, but when she took a closer look, she saw the most beautiful baby she had ever seen.

She could not control herself and approached the child, so she took him in her arms, and the most incredible thing happened.

He stopped crying, and instead he started to look at her and start smiling and making what she thought were happy noises.

That was enough to melt Martha's heart. She knew that, from now on, he was her child.

Jonathan, still stunned by all these events, couldn't stop Martha.

Only when the crying stopped did he finally go beside her.

He only saw a smiling Martha and a sleeping baby in her arms, and in that instant, he knew what he was supposed to do.

From that day on, Jonathan and Martha Kent welcomed the newest member of the family, Clark Kent.
