64 Invasion (4)

Long, long time ago, all the races on the continent lived in harmony, and of all the races, three were prominent: the beast race, proud of their strength; the elven race, proud of their knowledge of the arcane; and the demon race, proud of their ancient lineage.

These three races dominated their respective kingdoms, which included many races, but then a race began to change that—the human race.

That race began expanding at a rapid pace; in a century, they conquered a lot of territory, fearing for their lands and their people. The three races united against this new race.

Unfortunately, the demon race was naive; they were betrayed by the other two. The demon race didn't know that they were jealous of them; the beast race was jealous of their strength, and the elven race was jealous of their knowledge in the arcane.

They colluded with the new race to bring down the demon race, which they did. In only a couple of years, most of the demon lands were divided between the betrayer's and the human race.

They successfully brought the demon race to the brink of extinction. The king didn't have any other choice; he prayed to our god day and night.

We sacrificed everything to get an opportunity to retaliate and regain our land, and our god answered. He opened up a portal to another land. In this land, the demon race thrived and lived in peace for a couple of centuries, getting stronger.

We didn't forget the betrayal and genocide of our race; they will pay.

********************

In a cave close to the now-destroyed mountain range, two individuals were around a campfire. One was a female figure; she was on the ground, stiff and without a spark of life in her eyes.

The other was a man dressed as a typical mage; this man was reading a strange dark-green book.

"I can't...did they seriously believe in this crap?"

Isaac was reading the memories of the demon that he captured.

"It is clearly a publicity stunt, but they seriously believed it."

*Sigh*

The history of the demon race was more like an indoctrination book used to mold the minds of the young demons into hatred for all other races.

"Tch, even the hierarchy and orders are messed up."

The king was an absolute ruler; no one questioned his decisions or motives, and dead was guaranteed if they did. As for the orders, they were precise and vague at the same time.

"Destroy and kill everything until you reach the capital of the kingdom, huh?"

Isaac looked at his prisoner.

A 5'3 ft woman with light red skin and dark hair was lying on the ground without moving an inch. She was wearing standard hide armor along with braces and boots.

"According to her memories, horns only grow up when they're older as a symbol of power; hmm, that means that she is young."

He continued reading the memories, and then he made an alarming discovery...

(Shit!)

He immediately stood up and bolted out of the cave, running as far away as possible from the cave.

(Who would have thought that she was the granddaughter of a demon Viscount...)

The demons were divided into social status: the lowest of the demons were called commoners, followed by Barons, then Viscounts, Earls, Marquesses, Dukes, Grand Dukes and lastly the ruler of them all the King.

Each title was earned by force: meaning by combat, after all only the strongest survive in thier society.

(Interesting, since the time they abandon this continent there has been only one demon holding the title of King.)

{Nevermind that!}

Isaac keep running south.

(The probability of a rescue party coming for her is high.)

After 30 minutes of Isaac running out of the cave...

Inside the cave...

*Thud* *Thud* *Thud* *Thud*

"We found her, sir." (???)

Four demons wearing impressive armor filled to the brim with runes and enchantments were surrounding the catatonic demon.

*Tap*

"Her mind was tempered by a skilled entity"(???)

One of the demons wearing an obsidian robe and a creepy staff touched her forehead.

"Hm?, not a human?" (???)

One of the demons asked, confused of her statement.

"No, it is impossible for a human to destroy the enchantment of our lord without destroying the mind in the process."

The robe demon answered confidently.

"It doesn't matter; pack her up; we are leaving in five!."(???)

A demon wearing onyx plate armor interjected in the conversation.

"Yes, commander!" (???)×2

*Huff* *Huff* *Huff*

A few hundreds of miles south of the cave, Isaac was catching his breath, lying flat on the ground.

(Even this far away, I can feel that viscose and dark energy.)

{The ones who came to get her are no joke; they could probably kill me in a few seconds}

*Sigh*

"I'm still lacking...ha, ha, ha, ha,"

Isaac started to laugh uncontrollably on the ground. After a while, he calmed himself and stood up.

"Well, let's finish this dungeon."

He looked at the blue screen in front of him.

[Dungeon Quest's]

[Save the trapped soldiers on the Fort.] ✓

[Eliminate or capture the demon threat] ✓

[Hidden Quest's]

[Collect any intel about the Demon Threat]✓

"Hmm, although the demon that leadered is gone, the horde is still active. Well, better get going."

**************************************

In Fort Gorn.

Preparations to receive the horde were in full swing, and now with Commander Braza on the helm, all was a little easier.

"What happened in the Fort, Braza?" (Commander Thorn)

Both commanders were on top of the gates, surveying the front of the fort.

"Chaos, Thorn, is the only way I can describe it; we were ready to receive them just like you are right now, but something wasn't right..."(Commander Braza)

He turned around to look Thorn in the eyes.

"Even before the horde arrived, monsters were already inside the fort, but not any kind of monsters; instead, they were demonized monsters..."(Commander Braza)

He walked to the edge, reaching the stone rail, and looked inside the fortress.

There, people were coming and going—some laughing, others worried.

"By the time we found out about them, the barrier protecting the fort vanished, and then the horde hit(Commander Braza).

An awkward silence followed his story.

Commander Thorn could not believe what he was hearing, but all evidence points to it being true. But in doing so, many questions arrived: how the monsters infiltrated?, how they knew what the core of the barrier was?, how come nobody saw anything? Like that, many questions pop out.

One thing could be certain: there was a traitor in our ranks.
