9 Chapter 9: Hagrid

Mason is much more accepting of traveling worlds than most people.

Because he himself has crossed over.

Although it was a Transmigration, this does not affect Mason's sensitive emotions about traveling. When he stepped through the "Gate of the World" opened by Old K, Mason even had an indescribable longing in his mind.

Perhaps, as soon as he steps out, he can return to the plain but actual days three days ago and continue happily managing his plan of traveling the world.

That was the first thing he wanted to accomplish after his thirties.

But of course, such a good thing would not happen in a post-apocalypse full of zombies.

"Bang, bang, bang."

A very rhythmic gunfire echoed in the ruined train station waiting hall, mixed in with the zombie's loud cries and the continuous sound of explosions.

The lightweight sniper rifle in his hand, which does not look outstanding but is unique inside, is very textured, and every time Mason pulls the trigger at a distance of nearly 300 meters, it makes the sight of a zombie's head explode, greatly enhancing the sense of safety of Kite, who was watching nearby.

He looked surprised at Mason, who couldn't speak.

That simple-looking sniper rifle even had no scope on it. Under the naked eye, a moving zombie at a distance of 300 meters was almost a black dot in the eyes of an average person.

'It must be super shooting skills' Holding Mason's friendship support engineering gun, Kite-Man secretly thought and said ''Hey, I thought we were good teammates who split equally, but I didn't expect him to be a hidden master.''

A sense of bewildering loss almost made Kite-Man cry, and Mason kicked him hard.

The young man pointed in another direction.

Although the zombie tide triggered by Plastique was coming from the front, there was no decent defense in this destroyed station, and zombies were approaching this area from the back.

"Oh, I see! Watch me!"

Kite-Man understood immediately after being kicked. He took a few steps back, first sensing the wind direction in this area and then pressing the button on his chest.

With a swish, a huge diamond kite bounced out of his backpack, and the lift brought by the wind direction made him jump into the air with cheers.

He manipulated his Kite like an artist, flexibly flying and spinning on this complicated ground.

His handgun also kept firing, knocking down zombies approaching Platform 9¾.

Of course, you have to hit the head. This is the first rule for dealing with zombies.

During a pause in reloading, Mason took a moment to look at the green flying man in the sky. This Kite Man was a guy who was almost at the bottom of the Gotham third-line villains. He was more of a comedian than a villain.

His story was actually quite sad.

But he had always been happy and didn't have many bad thoughts. As a Gotham villain, he even rented a terrible apartment with a roommate to share the rent.

That's why Mason chose Kite Man as a temporary partner.

A villain who is willing to pay rent on time and endure the same life troubles as ordinary people can't be that bad.

As for Plastique and Vertigo, Mason is also very familiar with their stories. In short, these two bastards belong to the traditional villains who would enjoy VIP treatment even if they went to hell.

If they were in Gotham, they would be the regulars of Arkham.

"One minute left!"

As Mason's sniper kill Count reached 77, Old K, who had been busy breaking the barrier, threw a bottle of black liquid towards the pillar without looking back and said, "That's enough, let them in. How many times do I have to say it? Teammates must stick together."

"Tch," Mason sneered, lowering the muzzle of his rifle and releasing a flying bomb that swept through the zombies 300 meters away with two explosions.

The reinforcements arrived just in time, giving Plastique and Vertigo, continuously bombing and blasting the surrounding zombies, a chance to break through. They both saw a thin gap in front of them and rushed towards it, pushing each other.

Vertigo even threw his ability onto Plastique, causing her to stumble and fall while running. Then he crouched down and crawled into the passage under the collapsed floor.

"Fuck!" Plastique cursed in a foreign accent with a dirty face.

If she weren't busy running away, she would have definitely blown up the bastard in front of her to vent her anger.

However, her situation was not so bad. Mason's sudden attack support guaranteed that as long as a large number of zombies approached, bullets would fly over to help her buy time.

Therefore, after crawling and rolling for a while, Plastique successfully entered the escape passage. She was also smart enough to grab a nearby brick and throw it towards the path behind her instantly when the zombie arms injected with an energy hit the gap.

The brick exploded, completely collapsing the wall next to the block and completely blocking the way for the zombies to advance.

"Behind you! Behind you! Run!" Kite Man, who was controlling the Kite flying overhead, waved his hands and shouted loudly at the relieved Plastique. The latter suddenly turned and saw a strange red figure quickly climbing the wall.

The twisted arms, which grew like sickles, almost blew up Plastique's head on the spot.

Kite Man kept firing in the air, but he couldn't hit it because of the unstable movement of the zombie.

However, at this moment, Old K also lifted the barrier of the platform. He whistled and waved to his teammates, then charged into the stone pillar in front of him.

Seeing a full-grown person disappear in front of a white pillar was somewhat strange, but Plastique and Vertigo, who had just survived death, didn't care.

They ran to rush in as they saw the way out in front of them. Kite Man controlled his Kite and landed, then looked back at Mason, who was still standing in place, and yelled, "Run! That thing is hard to hit!"

Bang

The moment the Aiming was locked on, Mason pulled the trigger.

The scorching hot bullet triggered double damage, causing the left leg of the red-clothed little girl spider zombie, who was pouncing on him, to explode completely.

He glanced at Kite Man silently.

The latter shrugged awkwardly and said, "Looks like you can handle it, buddy. I'll go ahead."

He also passed through the pillar, leaving only Mason alone on the platform facing the mutant zombie, which was still howling and jumping even with a broken leg.

She looked like she was only seven or eight years old, the most carefree time in a child's life.

It showed the beautiful things to Mason, then ruthlessly tore them apart, just like the face in front of him that was severely decayed and twisted, empty of innocence and only full of sadness.

"click."

As the breach-loading shotgun was raised behind him, the double-barreled shotgun was easily drawn out, the bullets were loaded into the chamber, and the muzzle was raised. Mason looked at the twisted figure that was approaching and spoke softly.

"The nightmare is over little one. Go home. Your parents have been waiting for you for a long time."

Bang!

The mutant zombie rush, its mutated, barbed tongue like a snake stabbing towards Mason. And at that moment, the trigger of sin was also pulled.

The ruthless blaze of the fire pushed the bullet forward, screaming forward and completely destroying another soul tormented by nightmares.

In the moment of flesh and blood bursting like a sickle, Mason did not hesitate to turn around and rush into the white stone pillar behind him. At this moment, he felt disgusted for this zombie in his gut.

Compared to here, even the simple and honest Gotham City seems so bright than here.

As Mason appeared into the stone pillar of the three-quarters platform, a message lit up in front of him.

'Successfully completed an outstanding special mutant killing. Shooting proficiency increased by X20, currently at Level 2. Unlocked combat talent: Quick Draw.'

'Unlocked character trait [Cold-blooded Gunman: Proficiency doubles when executing headshots].'

Before Mason could fully comprehend the meaning of this talent, he heard a loud explosion and Old K's angry scold as he rushed into the magic platform.

"What the hell are you guys doing? Get up there and stop them!"

"Hmm?" Mason realized that something was wrong here. There was a battle going on? And it had made Old K, who was always hypocritical and snobby, this angry.

It seemed that his teammates were not doing well.

"Ah!" In the instant that he was thinking, a scream rang out before him. Mason moved one step and easily dodged, and then Kite-Man was thrown at him.

The poor guy's diamond-shaped Kite was now in pieces, with claw marks and blood stains, and he almost ended up being torn apart on the spot.

Mason raised his gun and looked up at the big magic platform before him. He saw the three people from the K team battling a huge monster.

Standing over three meters tall, it resembled a half-giant.

It wore a black mole skin coat that was stained with blood, emitting a foul odor. The coat was pierced with bullet holes, scorch marks from magical attacks, and slashes from sharp objects.

Its twisted and swollen body, after being turned into a zombie, made this creature look like a moving mountain of flesh. The green poisonous gas that enveloped it made Plastique and Vertigo, forced to confront it, turn pale.

Old K removed the large crossbow from his back and held it with both hands, shooting it continuously from a safe distance.

The arrows he fired were surrounded by strange flashes of light. Upon hitting the target, they would trigger dazzling lightning, blue ice, or explosive flames. He had already blown off one of the giant zombie's arms by relying on these magical attacks.

The giant zombie's face, which was reminiscent of a giant's descendant, was covered with torn and rotting skin. Its eyes were as pale as a hellish creature's, and its teeth protruded, revealing strange, enlarged fangs.

Most importantly, Old K had already crushed this guy's forehead. The dried and crimson brain matter could be seen even in its stinking, shuffling crawl.

Each time its large claws struck the ground, the entire platform shook. It was also clearly slowed down by Vertigo's ability, causing it to be very unstable when walking and attacking, even falling down at times.

That dwarf-like messy hair and long beard were full of flesh blown up by the explosion woman. He looked very messy and miserable.

But Mason still recognized this guy's identity for the first time.

'Hagrid?'

Mason was shocked in his heart. This good-tempered big guy turned into a more dangerous mutant zombie than the red-clothed girl on the outside platform.

At the moment of recognizing him, Mason felt a chill in his heart.

This world-class zombie disaster has nothing to do with the wizarding world. Otherwise, it is impossible to explain why the virus would infect Rubeus Hagrid, a righteous wizard, a senior member of the Order of the Phoenix.

It seems that the wizards are also victims of this disaster. Their situation is no better than the world outside, which has become a wasteland.

"Mason! Did I save you just to watch the show there?"

Old K's shout was already full of anger, and he yelled.

"My magic arrows are not for use here! Quickly use your damn bullets to kill this tough guy! He's already turned into a zombie but can still heal himself. Damn these wizards and their self-healing!"

Mason grabbed the explosive Crit Shotgun behind his back and took a deep breath, kneeling with the gun raised.

The aim in sight constantly jumped around before finally locking onto the withered forehead of Hagrid, whose exposed skin was clearly healing. Mason fired six shots, all hitting their mark.

The double damage from two critical hits caused the zombie Hagrid's head to completely explode.

After Hagrid fell to the ground, Mason threw a few flying bombs, causing blood and flesh to fly everywhere. He then walked forward, with everyone else panting and staring at him, and pulled out the double-barrel pistol from his waist, firing two shots at the blood-spattered head of Hagrid.

The power of the single-headed bullet filled with engineering gunpowder was quite impressive at this range.

'Successfully completed an outstanding special mutant creature kill, headshot execution. Shooting skill proficiency increased by X20.'

After the notification of Hagrid's complete death appeared, Mason finally breathed a sigh of relief. In the dead silence, Mason expressionlessly opened the gun magazine, took out a thumb-thick bullet, and bent down to pick up something from the zombie Hagrid's body.

First, he found a string of motorcycle keys on Hagrid's blood-stained waistband, and then he pulled out a rough-shaped giant hunting knife from Hagrid's oversized boots.

As Mason prepared to remove Hagrid's black mole rat skin coat, which was full of bullet holes and burn marks, the people around him finally understood what he was doing.

"Hey! We killed this monster together! The loot should be shared among everyone!"

Plastique supported herself and stood up, her face full of annoyance and covered in dirt and slime. She still remembered how Mason used her as bait to practice shooting those damn zombies.

She shouted, "We put in more effort than you. You don't have the right to take so much!"

As she spoke, she walked towards the huge corpse, intending to join and grab a loot. But a bullet hit the ground near Plastique's feet with a bang, stopping her in her tracks.

Mason, without even looking back, continued to collect the loot. He held the rough-looking but intimidating double-barreled pistol in his left hand, its black barrel still emitting smoke and empty casings bouncing at his feet.

The meaning behind his actions was clear.

Watching the conflict between the new member and Plastique, Old K recovered his magic arrows. He glanced at Mason for a few seconds before looking away as if he didn't want to get involved.

The tense atmosphere made the Plastique even angrier. Her hands began to wrap around boiling energy, and the Count, who had quietly moved to her side, threw her a look that said, "Although I tricked you earlier, those small things don't matter. Now we're a team."

As for the Kite Man, he had nearly been slapped to death by the zombie Hagrid. He was now limping over, obviously scared but still tremblingly, standing on Mason's side.

He understood now.

In this team, only K and Mason were the real powerhouses. The Plastique and the Count were just cannon fodder and reserve garbage who couldn't get the job done. In the Joker's gang, fools who couldn't see the situation like them would be fed to Batman!

Mason gave the Plastique and the Count a cold glance, then waved his hand, threw his smelly mole rat fur coat to Kite Man, inserted his giant-style hunting knife into his waist, and threw the keychain into his backpack.

He then took out a small can of fuel, poured it on Hagrid's corpse, backed away a few steps, and fired a shot to ignite it.

Flames rose and burned.

A few seconds later, Old K coughed and said

"The train will arrive in an hour. Do you want to fight now and settle the score or wait for the train to arrive and fight in the carriage? I'm not rushing you, but if you insist on fighting, I advise you to hurry up."

I understand why this magic school has been discovered for so long, but no one has come to explore it. The danger here is even greater than in some weak B-level worlds.

So, everyone, as the team leader, I suggest taking a break and resting for a while. Let's put our struggles aside for now."
