4 Chapter 004: On The Magic Resistance Of The Kryptonians

Chapter 004 (Continued): On The Magic Resistance Of The Kryptonians

Clark flew backward, the force of the Man of Steel shattering a distant hill in his wake. In mid-air, head down, he quickly spotted Dane rushing towards him.

With no solid ground to push against, Clark felt a moment of anxiety as he stopped his descent in mid-air. This caused Dane's pre-calculated punch to miss.

"Oh?"

Dane fell back to the ground but swiftly flew into the sky, leveling himself with Clark.

"It looks like you've also learned to fly."

In reality, Clark had possessed the ability of flight since gaining his powers, but he had never actively utilized it. Seeing Dane effortlessly maneuver through the air, Clark decided to apply the skill in combat.

Dane couldn't help but smile as he watched Clark soar around him. "If you want to fly well, you have to practice more. Let me help you."

The sparring continued. Dane lunged forward, reminiscing about the movie "Man of Steel" and Space Punch. The familiarity was clearly rubbing off on him.

Taking advantage of his flight, Dane delivered a powerful punch to Clark's face, sending him flying once again. However, the robust Kryptonian was unharmed, quickly recovering from the impact.

"When Zod and his gang come, it is estimated that this battle will be difficult to fight," Dane commented as Clark adjusted his body, getting more accustomed to flying.

After exchanging blows, Dane suggested, "Let's stop here for the sparring." The fight had reached a point where going any further might escalate into a serious confrontation.

Dane had gained insight into his current strength level, roughly on par with Clark when he first encountered Krypton survivors. While Dane's basic attributes were extraordinary, his methods of dealing with opponents were lacking compared to Clark.

Kryptonians had inherent weaknesses. Clark's resistance to magic, in particular, wasn't as strong as his physical resistance. Dane noted that Clark's resistance to magic lightning wasn't impressive, especially considering the source – Zeus's thunder and lightning power.

"Let's stop here for the sparring."

The two halted their intense sparring session. If they continued, the friendly bout might turn serious, defeating the purpose of the exercise.

Dane assessed his position – his abilities were off the charts, but his means of dealing with enemies required improvement. Compared to Clark, who never yielded in a fistfight, Dane felt slightly better in terms of energy release.

However, Dane recognized the need for more power, especially considering the looming threat of Zod and his Kryptonian cohorts. With kryptonite yet to be introduced on Earth, Dane considered alternative strategies.

Back at the Rock of Eternity, Dane found a fresh set of clothes for Clark. Curious about Clark's age, Dane asked, "When were you born?"

Clark, uncertain of his true age, mentioned being picked up by Jonathan and Martha Kent in October 1980. Dane calculated that Clark was around 25 years old.

Feeling that he could overpower Clark with his abilities, Dane proposed visiting Clark's father through the Kryptonian spaceship key. The key stored Clark's father's digital consciousness, and Dane knew of a hidden Kryptonian spacecraft on Earth.

"Why are you helping me like this?" Clark asked, expressing genuine curiosity about Dane's motivations.

"Because I want you to be on Earth's side when Zod invades," Dane replied honestly.

As the conversation shifted to Clark's invitation, Dane considered visiting Smallville, Kansas. Utilizing his magical powers, he transported them to Clark's hometown instantly.

Clark, now treating Dane as a friend, invited him to stay with his family in Smallville. The chapter ended with the two friends flying toward Clark's home, engaging in light-hearted conversation as they soared through the skies.
